'We've rediscovered our relationship'
Irrespective of whether they win or lose 'Nach Baliye 3' has afforded Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shiekh quality time writes Sapana Patil Poojary
The dance talent show 'Nach Baliye 3' (Star Plus) has entered its final leg and finalist Aamir Ali and partner Sanjeeda Sheikh are aiming to make it to the winners' pedestal.
Quiz Aamir on what he thinks is the couple's strength and he states, "I think it's our simplicity. Judges often tell us that we hardly speak."
But don't Aamir and Sanjeeda feel threatened by contestant Rakhi Sawat and beau Abhishek Awasthi's immense popularity?
"We are popular too. Otherwise, we wouldn't have reached this stage. Of course, our popularity is backed by our performance. But I would say that we are popular in the right way; we are not a controversial couple," says Aamir matter-of-factly.
There is a strange co-incidence surrounding 'Nach Baliye 3'. In the first season, jodi number 9 (Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar) had won followed by jodi number 8 (Tina and Hussain) in the second.
Interestingly, Aamir and Sanjeeda are jodi number 7. Does he think that being jodi number 7 could bring them luck (keeping the reverse order in mind)? "I hope it comes true; though we would want the best pair to win," he smiles.
Nevertheless, Aamir is expecting to win the contest this year. "We have worked hard," he reasons.
Aamir insists that the couple is not making any gameplan. He says, "There is no substitute for hard work. Even during the week when we were spared from the elimination, judges had called our performance splendid."
Having said that, he says Sanjeeda and he are prepared to accept whatever fate has in store for them.
"Of course, we will feel bad if we lose after reaching this far. But we will accept it. Sanjeeda and I have learnt a lot. We've rediscovered our relationship. We had never worked together earlier nor spent so much time together," he says adding,
"Our happiness will be boundless if we make it because it's fun to win against good competition."
