Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, Deepika Padukone's Padmavati and Ranbir Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos - 5 Bollywood films that made news for WRONG reasons
Not just SRK's film, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's Jagga Jasoos, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor's Rangoon too have faced hurdles. These movies in a away were stuck and amidst controversy for various reasons.
Fans are often disappointed when their favourite star's film gets delayed or shelved. And looks like this year we had many such moments...
Shah Rukh Khan's Raees was to release this year alongside Salman Khan's Sultan. It was going to be the battle of Khans at the box office this Eid. However, the makers of Raees finally backed out citing different reasons. But it is not just SRK's film, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's Padmavati, Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor's Rangoon too have faced hurdles. These movies in a away were stuck and amidst controversy for various reasons. Here are five Bollywood films starring superstars that have been delayed and were in news for all the wrong reasons...

Controversy: Shah Rukh Khans Raees teaser trailer made fans go berserk with anticipation. Unfortunately for them, King Khan bowed out in the nth minute and let Salman's Sultan have a solo release during Eid. While buzz suggested that non performance of Fan is what prompted the Raees team to pull back SRK himself insists that the real reason was something else. The actor while addressing the media at his Bandra residence Mannat during Eid said, "I was injured when we were shooting, because of which all of my films were delayed by a good 8-9 months. We did the action scenes but there were some left. After we completed the shoot, I thought some of the scenes haven't turned out the way I wanted it to. The film is over now. But it was all done in a hurry and so we took the decision."
Reason for delay: While Shah Rukh might complete re-shooting the scenes, he is yet to finalise and announce a release date. The makers were hoping to release the film in January over the Republic day weekend, but Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil will also be releasing on the same day. What's worse is that SRK had confirmed that he was in talks with Rakesh Roshan, but the latter has refused to back out. Hrithik like SRK has pressure of performing at the BO after Mohenjo Daro bombed. Kaabil's director, Sanjay Gupta added more fuel to the fire when he suggested that his team was working at break-neck speed to complete the film in a month's time and hit theatres in January 26. With Shah Rukh yet to find a release date it's safe to say that this film is stuck!
#Padmavati

Padmavti
Controversy: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's this film can literally be called the queen of controversies. The casting drama if telecast would beat any daily soap opera in TRP game. First it was said that Deepika and Priyanka Chopra, Bhansali's two current favs were fighting for the lead role. While Deepika came on board later, SLB's pet Ranveer Singh threatened a walkout. The reason, Shahid Kapoor wasn't just roped in with a fat pay cheque, but rumours suggested that the filmmaker had promised Kapoor to make his role meatier. Buzz was also that Ranveer almost ditched the project and had to be coaxed to comeback on board. And if casting coup wasn't enough Deepikas hiked fee and profit sharing details were widely discussed.
Reason for delay: After sorting the issues with his leading starcast if you thought that Bhansali's woes had ended, then you were absolutely wrong. The film apparently went so over budget that one production house couldn't handle it. If buzz is to be believe the historic saga of Rani Padmavati and Allahuddin Khilji is being made at a whopping budget of Rs 190 crore! Yes, the starcast itself will take home a sum of Rs 30 crore. And we now hear that makers are trying to rope in another producer to support this magnum opus. So while the film is supposed to have kick-started the hunt for another pillar of support is still on...
#Jagga Jasoos

Jagga-Jasoos
Controversy: Director Anurag Basu recently shifted the blame from ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif for delay of Jagga Jasoos, and insisted that it was his choice to postpone the film. Buzz was that Ranbir-Katrina's personal relationship was the real villain. The two stars had signed the movie when they were madly in love. The film however faced several delays, first due to the two stars other commitments - while Ranbir was filming for Tamasha and Bombay Velvet, Katrina got busy with Bang Bang and Phantom. Ranbir - Katrina's break-up only made matters worse. After much delay the two stars did come back on sets, but it was tough handling the two. Pics of the two stars' friend Ayan Mukerji on the sets only added fuel to the fire that Kat-Ranbir were keeping safe distance and shooting uncomfortably. During their Morocco schedule in fact Katrina travelled separately while Ranbir was seen having a gala time with the unit.
Reason for delay: The film was originally supposed release by the end of 2016, in fact the team had started work in March and finished the first twenty days of shoot too. With the actors' giving other filmi commitments priority Jagga Jasoos was put in the back burner. It was also said that Basu was unhappy with the scenes that he had shot earlier and wanted to re-shoot them. Also in the two years a lot had changed and apparently Katrina Kaif's transformation in these years only affected the continuity. This year before Ranbir-Katrina's break up it was alleged that the movie would hit theatres in July. But now the team has shifted it to next year. Which only means that there's no surety that this film will come out next year.
#Thugs Of Hindostan

Controversy: Initially Hrithik Roshan was supposed to be a part of Aditya Chopra's this production venture until he bowed out recently. Insiders suggest that Aditya Chopra had the last laugh with Mohenjo Daro failing to perform at the ticket windows. The actor apparently demanded a whopping Rs 60 crore as his fee which inflated the film's budget. YRF announced that Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan had been roped in and HR was out of the film. Reports also suggest that Roshan's Rs 550 crore deal with a GEC was inclusive of the clause that satellite rights of his movies releasing in 2017 were to be shared with the same channel. The makers obviously wouldn't comply to this and it's no surprise that the actor's film releasing next year happen to be only his own home production ventures - Kaabil and the next installment of the Krissh franchise.
Reason for delay: The change of cast affected the film badly, Hrithik's walkout from Thugs Of Hindostan came out only recently. While Yash Raj managed to rope in Aamir and Big B, we all know that Mr Perfectionist already is engrossed in a couple of projects. First up the actor had his Mahavir Phogat biopic, Dangal is slated to release in December this year. AK is also doing a cameo in Secret Superstar. And if our sources are to be believed than the actor will work on Rakesh Chawla's biopic again. Knowing Aamir, he will prep for the role and get into the skin of the character. So it is safe to say that not only did Hrithik leave this project, but his exit also resulted in the delay of it further.
#Rangoon

Shahid-kangna-Rangoon
Controversy: It was said that Deepika Padukone was trying hard to oust Kangana from Vishal's this film. The movie was initially titled Julia and we hear that no Bollywood hero wanted to be a sidekick to Kangana Ranaut. Hence it was rechristened as Rangoon, but seems like that didn't change much. Coz soon after stories of Kangana Ranaut's bossy behaviour on the sets started doing rounds. An online report revealed that angry Kangana blasted co-star Saif Ali Khan for making funny faces while shooting an intimate lovemaking scene. Director Vishal Bharadwaj managed to make peace and can the shot, but we hear that Ms Ranaut didn't exactly share a friendly rapport with either of her co-stars. Shahid Kapoor and Kangana too maintained safe distance and buzz is that both the heroes were irked with Kangana doling out acting tips and suggestions to them. Stories of Kangana wanting to ghost direct the film were also doing rounds and it seems that Bharadwaj had to literally put his foot down and ask Kangana to steer clear of his area of expertise. Going by the rumours the entire schedule of the film was quite tumultuous and Kangana wanted to cominate every department. The actress we hear wants to personally paint the film's posters.
Reason for delay: The movie went on floors in early November last year, but went on till recent. Kangana went to New York and Mexico as a part of preparations for the role. While the makers would have finished this much in time, Shahid Kapoor's and another actor were injured during the January schedule this year and the shoot had to be cancelled for some time. The film would have released in October this year, but now the film is set to release on February 24 around Shahid's birthday.
Clearly while Bollywood stars might have tried hard to steer clear of controversies, their films have managed to be in news much ahead of it's release for all the WRONG reasons!
