Now a days , Dev literally applying this statement.
Since he committed himself to Sonakshi , even after break up , he still shows Sonakshi that he is around her and force her to think that she only belongs to him.
He is doing this by hook or by crook that he throws all goodness or caring personality that Dev Dixit was famous for.

When his father died , He made commitment that he will not worship God. Now he has every luxury of life , he still angry.
When he was child , he made commitment with himself that he will work hard to become rich and powerful. he lost his childhood but he never left from his commitment.
He worship his mother and made commitment that he can do anything for her. This commitment cost her love.
