CHAPTER TWENTY ONE
Raman got to the hospital with Romi and Simmi all anxious to find out what was going on. All they knew was that their sister had been shot, they didn't know why or where she was shot or if she was okay. There were a lot of things going on in Romi's mind while all this was going on.
He got inside walking straight to the reception as he began asking the nurse about his sister.
'Where is she? Her name is Rinky Kumar Bhalla and...'' He began
'Sir calm down, I will get someone to you as soon as possible to give you details about what is going on...'' Said the Nurse
'Raman...'' He heard someone call him only to turn
'Ishita...'' He said surprised
'What are you doing here?'' She asked
'It is Rinky they said...'' Raman began but a nurse came walking in
'Which of you is Bhalla?'' She asked
'I am...'' They all answered at the same time
'Okay I need one of you to come with me and donate the blood...'' Said the Nurse
'I will do it... Figure out what happened...'' Said Romi and Raman and Simmi gave in which meant Romi leaving with the nurse

Ishita could tell this was bad because all the time she had known him, this was the first time she was seeing him this helpless and also panicky.
'Raman... What happened...'' Said Ishita
'I don't even know. A nurse called me and said Rinky had been shot and that she is in surgery. I do not know if she is okay. If the gun shot was fatal. I mean that is why they need that blood. I swear I do not know what she got herself involved in...'' Said Raman

'She tried to get into the alt again... I don't quite understand what she thinks she is going to find there...'' Said Ishita
'My sister got shot and all you can think about is what was she doing there'' Raman snapped

'Just please... Give me some space. My sister is in there fighting for her life...'' Said Raman turning as he took Simmi's hand who was seemingly in tears and they walked to the waiting area which the nurse had showed them

'Let him go... ' She said and Ishita stood back frustrated

They had been waiting the entire night and Ishita was genuinely worried for what was coming ahead. She couldn't quite understand why Simmi was trying to make it seem like whatever happened was her fault or why Rinky was repeatedly trying to steal from her. The first time she had ended up in jail and one would have thought she had learnt her lesson. Something wasn't adding up and all she wanted to do was find out what. She never intended for it to come out like she didn't care.
If it was a different person in that surgery room she would have ensured they never knew any freedom or any happiness because the Alt was not just any place, it was where the Phoenix Project was. They were still securing a place for that software in the Iyer Technologies Building. Everything was transferable but the servers on which it runs, that wasn't easy to just transfer off and that is why the Alt was as protected as it was. Ishita knew Rinky trying to get into there had to do with one of two things and none of them would end pleasantly well for her.
Priya who was finding the whole thing ridiculous and quite frankly annoying left a distort Ishita sitting at the reception and walked to where Raman and Simmi were waiting.
'You have some...'' Simmi began
'Shut up...'' Rinky cut her off turning to Raman
'Your worried for your sister I get that but to take it out on Ishita is so wrong and you know it...'' Said Priya

'Didn't I just say shut up, I am not done talking...'' Said Priya and knowing her, he taken back by her stunt kept quiet
'She triggered a silent alarm in a part of a building she wasn't supposed to be in. The guards yelled at her to stop but she ran, got to the second floor and tried to jump out of the building. Once she got out, she tried to go over the fence and they shot her in the leg. They then called Mark who asked them to call an ambulance and also call the police. They got her here, gave her medical attention but the blood banks were low today and that is why they called you. Ishu didn't know who it was until you walked through that door... Now I am telling you this because I wanted you to know how Rinky was shot, now here is why...'' Said Priya turning to Simmi
'She broke into the ALT, AGAIN. And as isolated and completely insecure as it looks, it is probably the most secure building in Delhi, even better than Iyer Technologies, and it will stay that way until we say otherwise... The only people who have access are me, Mimi, Ishu, Shlok and Varun. She managed to use an algorithm to get passed the first floor but whom ever made it for her didn't know that each floor comes with a different system all together and the place she went to only five of us are allowed their...Not even my own father gets through and she trust him more than her anyone in her life'' She added
'What is in that place that it got my sister shot...'' Said Simmi
'Not your problem, your problem should be, why is software that we made for RKB Fashions being used to hack into our building...'' Said Priya looking at Simmi before she turned to Raman

'Ishita doesn't know yet. I haven't handed the diagnostics report to her yet but I just looked at them and I could recognize that coding anywhere...'' Said Priya
'What are you saying'' Said Raman
'Am saying, you have a mole in your company Raman, and your sister is at the front of it. What just happened could lead to serious jail time for you and her... Now either be pissed at Ishita or figure out what is wrong with your company because trust me, you don't want Iyer Tech after you and I am not saying this as a threat, it is just a statement of fact and Ishita won't do anything about it'' Said Priya turning to Simmi
'She is the reason she got shot, not Ishita. Your sister lacks boundaries and has not an ounce of a sense of responsibility in her. Instead of blaming everyone else for her problems, why not look in the mirror'' She added
'What was she doing there...'' Said Raman
'I do not know but you need to figure it out...'' Said Priya and she walked back
Back at the Bhallas, there was a lot happening in the lives of these siblings, Raman and Romi with their relationship drama. Simmi was always up to something and Rinky, she was always Rinky. Along the way they forgot about the most important thing, the kids.
Raman was busy and he saw his kids less times than he wanted, when he was fee they were in school and so he would end up spending that time either at RKB Fashions or with Ishita doing something RKB Fashions related. It was understandable, they were trying to bring back his company to the place it was and even though unaware, he became careless with his children.
Often than not they were left with either the driver, the house help or some nanny or the other and they became easy prey, especially given the person ripping them apart was from within.
'Adi... I don't like this...'' Said Ruhi as she sat on the bench at the park with him
'Me too but Mihir took long to come and I was tired of waiting, I figured I call Nanny to come pick us up...'' Said Aditya
'What if it is not Ishima...'' Said Ruhi
'You really think Nanny would lie to us. Besides she knew about you and me and all our pranks. Only nanny knows them. I am sure she will take us home and everything will be fine...'' Said Aditya trying to be strong
It is very easy to hold on to something and want it to be real even when everything else says the opposite. These are two innocent children who craved for a mother, a person they could relate to and talk to without a filter or having to worry about consequences and Ishita had become that. Someone was playing with their emotions and it was working.
They waited for about 45 minutes before a black SUV pulled over right in front of them. Aditya got up and pulled Ruhi behind him instinctively wanting to protect her. The back door of the car opened and then...
'Ma...'' Said a shocked Aditya
CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
Aditya wanted to scream but it was like his voice was caught in his throat, he wanted to run but his feet couldn't move, he wanted to cry but he was in too much shook to do even that and so, he just stood in one place and stared at her
'Adi my love...'' the woman said
'Adi... She looks like the woman on Papa's wall... She looks like...'' Said Ruhi as she looked at the woman as well confused
'Why are... What is ... You should...'' Adi began stammering
'It is confusing but I can explain...'' the woman said as she came close but Aditya moved back pushing Ruhi behind him
'Okay... I will stay back...'' She said
'You are not dead?'' He finally managed to say
'No... I am alive here touch me and see...'' She held out her hand
Aditya stepped back a bit, staring at the hand and then at the woman. He thought about it for a minute or two before she slowly took his hand and extended it to her. His fingers brushed her hand and he pulled back but she didn't take hers away as she patiently waited for him to come to terms with what was happening.
He gained courage and took a step forward slowly putting his hand into hers and for the first time he could actually feel her hand, her presence that she was really there.
'Mama...'' He said softly his voice breaking
'Yes... It is me...'' She said
'Mama...'' He said again as he fell in to her arms and he began to cry
'Oh My God... Mama... You are really here... Ruhi... It is mom... She is here...'' He cried as he turned to his sister
'But Mom is dead... You said...'' Said Ruhi confused
'It is a long story... Here come with me and I will tell you all about it...'' She said
'We are not allowed to go with strangers. We thought you were Ishi...'' Ruhi said but she was cut off
'Ishita... The nanny... I also have a lot to tell you about her... Your safe with me, I am you're...'' She said
'Come Ruhi... It is okay...'' Said a naive Aditya and Ruhi wanting to please her brother picked her back pack up and off they went

After a night of waiting, everyone had been at the hospital and it was obvious Aditya and Ruhi must have been home with just the help. No way were these siblings going to call their parents to help after what happened and Ishita being Ishita wanted to be useful in some way. She asked Priya to help with checking on Aditya and also maybe picking him from rehearsal given Mihir was still running errands for a very demanding Simmi and Priya agreed.
She drove to where she was supposed to pick the kids up and once she got out of the car, she could see Aditya talking to someone, it was a woman. The woman is holding Ruhi's hand as if trying to comfort her. Aditya teary hugs the woman before Ruhi does the same and the woman gets into a car and drive off.
'Adi...'' Priya calls him
Aditya looked at her and turned to Ruhi, picked his bag and run to where Priya was
'I am here to take you home...'' She said
'I know, Pratik Uncle called and told Ruhi's dance instructor'' Said Aditya walking passed her and into the car
'Oookay...'' Said Priya as she went to the car as well
'Your seat belt please...'' Said Priya and Aditya obliged
'Who was that woman...'' She added
'What woman...'' Said Aditya
'The one I just saw you talking to'' Said Priya
'She is not a woman, she is...'' Ruhi began but Aditya cut her off
'She is a woman...'' He said
'Yeah I see that, but who is she? Do you know her'' Said Priya

'No need to have attitude I was only concerned because it is not nice to talk to strangers'' Said Priya

'I am Ishita's and Pratik's friend'' She said
'Your nanny's friend, not mine...'' Said Aditya looking out the window before adding

'Meaning...'' Said Priya baffled as to why he had developed so much anger
'Are you going to quiz us all day or should we find our own way home...'' Said Aditya
'Alright... ' Said Priya putting her hands up and dropping the subject because it wasn't in her place and she knew it but she realized Ishita needed to know this
'Priya Auntie... Please I want to go see Rinky. She is at the hospital; Neelu told us she was not well. We want to go see her...'' Said Ruhi
'I do not think it would...'' Priya said
'Please... I want to go see Rinky... No one tells us anything...'' Ruhi began throwing tantrums
'Okay... Okay...'' Said Priya giving in and they drove to the hospital

Back at the hospital, Rinky was out of surgery and was now awake and God knows she had a lot of questions she needed to answer from a lot of people. Raman and Romi walked in as she began regaining consciousness both sighing with relied that she was alright.
'Rinky... Can you hear me...'' Said Romi
'Yes...'' She said as she tried to sit up but Raman held her back
'You have to keep that elevated...'' Said Raman pointing at her leg which was full of screws
Her knee had been badly damaged. She was shot twice in the knee and the doctors needed to ensure that they put it back together the best way they could if she was every going to have mobility in that leg, hence the long surgery
'What happened'' She asked
'Uhh... You don't remember...'' Said Romi
'I... Wait... I was actually shot, I wasn't dreaming...'' She said as she looked at her terrified brothers
'But am fine now that is what important right...'' She added trying to comfort them
'What were you thinking?'' Said Romi
'What the hell were you trying to steal from that place? Or better yet, why the hell are you even stealing anyway...'' Said Raman
'Oh yeah the ALT... No... No... I need to get out of here...'' Said Rinky as she began panicking
'Okay calm down, you are not going anywhere...'' Said Romi
'Is your girlfriend here?'' Rinky asked
'Who...'' Said Romi
'Not you, Raman... Is Ishita here...'' Said Rinky as she nervously looked up at Raman
'Rinky... What is going on?'' Said Raman
'I want to talk to her. I know she is here. You can't be here and she isn't plus it was her building I broke into so she must be around...'' Said Rinky who was beginning to get agitated
'Rinky...'' Romi began
'I needed help and you refused to help me. Now allow me fix my mess. I want to talk to Ishita... ' She said
'No... I am not allowing this until you tell me what is going on'' Said Romi
'Nurse... Nurse...'' She began to scream
'Rinky... Keep your voice down'' Said Raman
'Get Ishita into this room of get out...'' She yelled falling back down on the bead as she struggled to catch her breath
'Fine... Okay...'' Said Romi slightly scared
'So then go and ask her to come here. And while you're at it do not come in, I want to talk to her alone...'' Said Rinky standing her ground, something that her brothers were finding hard to quite understand because this was out of character for her
'I am not calling anyone in her until you tell us what the hell is going on...'' Said Raman
'Then get out, I don't want any of you here...'' She said
'Rinky what has come over you...'' Said Romi
'Leave... Why would you care? When I needed your help you didn't give it, now you care suddenly... I need you all to leave... Get out right now... I want...'' She yelled
'Rinky... Rinky ... ' Said a shocked Simmi
'Get out...'' She screamed and before they knew it, her eyes were shutting down and machines began beeping. The nurses and doctor came running in as they asked them to leave and allow them to treat her and they fearfully obliged
Once the nurse got to her and began checking her, she suddenly opened her eyes and looked at the doctor tears filled in her eyes much to the doctor's surprise
'Sorry...'' She said and he stood up looking at her
She put out her hand holding the Arterial line in her hands and there was some bleeping on her forearm where it should have been
'Came out by mistake...'' She added but he knew she was lying
'Nurse, can you please get her a new one...'' He said
'Yes doctor...'' Said the nurse
'Not a word of this goes to my siblings. I am allowed to have my records private. It is my right...'' She said threateningly
The doctor who had quite frankly had enough of the Bhallas just looked at her, shook his head and walked away leaving her their still looking completely terrified.
Raman and Romi were processing this differently and Simmi was no less. She was completely terrified as well built for different reasons. That code Rinky used, it was her who gave it to Jai and if that came out it was only a matter of time before they figured out what she had been doing for close to a year and everything would fall apart.
Rinky lied to her, she said she needed this code to help out a friend with who was designing a new program for a competitor company for Iyer Technologies, so she was more than willing to give away a piece of what RKB had because that meant her plans fell into place. Now this put everything into jeopardy
'What the hell is happening to our family...'' She said
'We need to find Ishita...'' Said Romi
'Why...'' Said Simmi
'What do you mean why...Are you blind'' Said Raman baffled by Simmi

CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
Simmi nervously stood back as she began panicking within. She hoped Rinky would keep her mouth shut and nor say a word. The doctor walked out and so did the nurses. They told them not to stress her so much because she needed to rest. The doctor told them of how she was a bit scared and they needed to be careful with the way they handled her before he left them alone.
Simmi who was impatient for obvious reasons couldn't hold on until Rinky got her shit together. She walked back into the room where Rinky was because she began having a feeling that Rinky was about to spill a few beans and that was good
'What do you think you're doing?'' She said as she walked in
'Oh God... Not you...'' Said Rinky as she tried to look away
No Rinky what do you think you're doing'' Said Simmi
'I have no idea what you are talking about'' Said Rinky
'Don't do that... Don't play dumb I have known you long enough to know your antics...'' Said Simmi
'Simmi Please...'' Said Rinky
'I am warning you...'' Said Simmi
'Relax... I am not telling Raman that your boyfriend made that algorithm for me...'' Said Rinky

'I can talk to you any way I want and you won't do a thing. You are worse than me and you're a crook. I would have told Raman what you are actually doing but I think he deserves it... On the other hand, mess up what is mine; I will mess up your plans. Your call... Am sick and tired and people threatening me especially low lifes like you...'' Said Rinky catching her breath again
'You know what, get out... Your presence is stressing me out...'' She added
Back outside Mark and Mihika were still giving their statements with Ishita nowhere in sight. When Romi got outside he began looking around as he tried to find her

'I don't know that is what I want to find out. She knows something and she is...'' He said suddenly turning to Mihika as he added
'If Ishita knows then you know as well...''

'What is going on'' Said Romi
'I have no idea what is going on and I can assure you, neither does Ishu...'' Said Mihika
'Then why does Rinky want to talk to her and why is she scared like something bad is happening...'' Said Romi
'I don't know... I will get Ishu when we will find out'' said Mihika who could tell this was harder for Romi than any of the siblings
'What is going on'' said Ishita as she walked back in
'What have you done to my sister?'' Said Romi as he charged to where Ishita was
'Okay I need you to back off and I don't take lightly to people trying to intimidate me...'' said Ishita still unbelievably calm
'Something happened and I will find out what it was and if I find out what you did something I swear...'' Romi began as he came towards Ishita but Mark stood in his way
'I suggest you back off...'' Said Mark
'Okay this is ridiculous... I will not stand by and listen to this childishness. Once you all start reasoning like adults... Call me...'' said Ishita as she turned around
'Ishita wait... Just hold on...'' Said Raman as he pulled her back
'Just... Calm Down and understand, she is our baby sister and she is acting strange. She doesn't forgo a chance to ask for anything because most of the time she knows she will get it. We have taken care of her for as long as we can recall and she is in trouble, So you have to understand why we are upset...'' said Raman and Ishita turned looking at him
'I get that but why is everyone on my case like somehow her misdoings are my fault... She tried to break into a highly secure building, what did she think was going to happen' Said Ishita
'I know... Just ... Please go in there and talk to her...'' Said Raman

'Okay... Okay I will do it...'' Said Ishita who felt like her heart was breaking into two when she saw the look in his eyes. He was truly torn apart and she could not only see that, she could feel that and she more than anyone understood what he was going through
'She turned around and began heading that way when she suddenly heard Mark tell her
'Mam... I wouldn't advise that you do that...'' But she just ignored him and instead walked straight to Rinky's room
'She is not worth it Raman... You should have to plead for her to do the right thing...'' Said Simmi who was standing by the door
'I know... But what choice did I have...'' Said Raman angrily
Romi who was pissed at a lot of things turned and walked out with Mihika following him. She wanted to make sure he was okay. He got outside and began screaming angrily which was a reaction that caught Mihika off guard
'Romi calm down what is it...'' She said
'I should have known somethings wrong. I should have known... When she came asking for that money I should have asked more questions, I should have given it to her. Maybe them she wouldn't have had the urge to go and do something so stupid. What if ...'' He said
'Romi... You can't think that way... It is not your fault what...'' Said Mihika but he cut her off
'It is my fault... I am her elder brother I am supposed to take care of her. Me... It she can't depend on me where else was she supposed to find help. What if something worse happened? What if she had been injured badly? What if she had died'' He began
'But she didn't... She is alright and she is in there recovering... You need to understand that her mistakes cannot be on you. You can't carry that weight on you. She is a grown woman who should have a sense of right and wrong and should differentiate the two... This is not you Romi...'' Said Mihika as she took his hand
'Hey... She added and she held his face forcing him to look at her
'This is not on you... And you are a good brother, trust me, I know...'' She said
'I just...'' He said
'You worried... But I am here to tell you that she will be fine. I am going to make sure; I get to the bottom of this. I run a Tech Company remember, this is what we do...'' Said Mihika reassuring him
'I don't think your bosses will like that very much...'' He said calming own as he sat down by the pavement in the parking lot
'Only one boss matters and you happen to be a very important person to her...'' said Mihika as she sat down as well
'What is that? Prospective brother in law ...'' He said chuckling as he calmed down
'No... The man her best friend is in love with...'' Said Mihika
There was a silence that one would have heard a pin drop. Romi turned and looked at her as he tried to process what she had said or even whether or no she had said it or it was in his head because the last time they talked he wasn't even sure she and him were going to be an item
'Do not say things just to make me feel better because this could actually be worse if you're lying to me...'' He said
Mihika looked at him and didn't say a word. She instead just leaned in placing her hand on the nape of his neck along the way and pressed her lips on his. It was so sweet and simple and yet it meant more to him than anything he owned in that moment. She pulled back and looked at him for a second or two before she shyly looked away saying
'This is not the place, nor the time so we don't talk about it until Rinky is out of here... I just needed to do that...''
'Oookay...'' said Romi as he smirked looking away as well and just like that, at least for that moment, all the worry and regret he had about his sister disappeared.
Back inside, Raman was seated in the waiting area pissed as hell with Ishita and yet he knew she was the hope he had to figure out what the hell Rinky was doing or why she was doing it or even what the was going on. Simmi was preparing to go home and prepare for the kids to make sure that they were catered for at least until Raman got back home. So imagine their surprise when
'Why the hell haven't you been picking your calls...'' Said Priya who walked in
'Am sorry I was kind of ...''He replied baffled
'Well don't blame me them. I wanted to warn you and let you know about'' Said Priya as she stepped back
