Sanjay forbids use of Ishq & Mahiya

Says Gupta, "I know it's like guns and roses coming together. But I've been convincing Gulzar Saab to be part of my cinema for a long time. I'm his biggest fan in the world. And my car has only CDs of his songs."

Continuing to share his experience Sanjay added that I requested Gulzar saab to take a quick glance through all the ten stories and then personally compose poetry for each film and he agreed. Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Naseer and Shabana and Amrita Singh have reiterated these poems in my film.

"Keeping in mind the great work of Gulzar saab and touched by his kind gesture, we have also come out with a special CD of his poems that he has composed for the film," adds Sanjay.

Sharing his thoughts Gulzar stated that Sanjay Gupta and he had met quite a few times and he was quite impressed by the concept. He felt that it would be interesting to make his poetry a reflection of the visuals in his short stories. But all he insisted on was that Sanjay gets the actors from the different stories to recite the poems and not him.

"You know I'm responsible for flooding the film-music market with songs about ishq and mahiya. I've forbidden all my lyricists from using these two words in any of our films. Now my cinema needs a new poetic expression. Hopefully Gulzar Saab will allow his vision to be part of more films from my production house," concluded Sanjay.
