I'm a frequent visitor of the forum but never got a chance to make posts.
Today's episode compelled me to say whatever I'm going to say.

Today's episode was a clear example of how love marriages or two people in love are treated in India. Now, this is not a derogatory comment for my country but an observation.

When people in India fall in love, maximum number of times the guy's family starts behaving weird with the girl. Exactly like Ishwari (though Ishwari has her own set of insecurities, which are totally unrelated here)
In today's episode, she easily defended her son but took no time to point out that Sona should have said NO, without considering the fact that Sona, in fact, said no, tried to get out of the picture & ran out as soon as she was allowed to do so. But Ishwari didn't acknowledge that.

Secondly, the guy's family starts pointing fingers at the girl. Remarks like 'Naak ke neeche se beta chura liya' as said by Vicky are so common. It's because people stereotype girls as gold digging seductresses who are out with just one goal- to trap rich guys. Amazing, no?

Thirdly, guy's sister who happened to be the girl's best friend before, turn into bitches. They forget all about the things they shared & feel offended that they were not informed about the love story and other details.

The guy here is Dev & girl is Sonakshi. And they can try as hard as they want, dream about a beautiful future together but can never really live it with the mentality that's etched into our brains.

Only character that made sense today was Neha. She knows her mother way too well. She's been in love. She knows her brother. She knows Sona. Her childhood suffering has taught her something that none of the members from Dixit family could ever learn.

I hope that Dev realises all this soon.

P.S.- Can Sona please stop working for Dixits? It has been so awkward for her since the revelation and Ishwari's taunts are not helping in any way. Please leave with respect.

I agree with your post. It's a shame that Indian parents automatically start doubting the girl's character once the boy falls in love with her.

Very well said it's Indian groom family mentality in love marriages. I think some families are there who is understanding but they are minority.

Exceptions are always there.
Nowadays people are rapidly becoming open minded and accepting love marriages but there's still a long way to go :)
