I already see many familiar faces here and those faces can very well guess how I might have landed up in this forum 😆
anyway, finally got aorund to binge-watching the first 15 episodes or so, still havent watched this week's episodes- and I am totally mesmerized.

No points for guessing that for me as well, Abhishek aka Priyansh Jora is the star of the show- not just due to his characterization, but also due to the many different facets and layers that he brings to the character, the way he emotes- he just tugs and pulls eevery single one of your heartstring. 😳 be it his helplessness, or his dedication and devotion to his family, the extremely beautiful bond he shares with his disabled brother, Rohan or in fact, just the way he is totally enamoured by Meera and considers her a silent source of inspiration, aspires to be free and happy just like her, somewhere deep down in his heart, but believes (at least for now) that it is impossible. It is not that such guys dont exist, but very rearely do such guys show the perseverance and determination to sail through all the problems that come along with a joint family of 14 people (which actually I have counted just to be 13, but maybe thats a topic for a different post 😆)

Coming to Meera, I have to say I was totally unimpressed by her in the first couple of episodes- I mean, a bubbly happy-go-lucky heroine...nothing new there at all for me, not to mention, in my opnion the actress is strictly average and does not bring much on her own to the character, so my only hope for Meera is that her characterization be improved. At least the actress doesnt go overboard with her bubbly antics and still manages to look cute and not stupid. Anyway, but Meera totally imnpressed me from epis 5-8 or so...you can actually see what it is about her that Abhi might find endearing and why Abhi might be that one sourse of inspiration for her, the one person who can give her the direction to her life after marriage, like her mother thinks.

Coming to the crazy families- I am very impressed with the makers for showing all of the black, white and grey shades and not just black or white. That made them so much more realistic than what one would normally expect from a family whose grandson is the only breadwinner of the family. Would like to find out some things that I found extremely real from the supporting cast

1. chachas and their awareness that their newphew is now the sole caretaker, yet the pride that they have in fact raised him to be the man he is since their older brother left, so they should be allowed anything and everything

2. madhu chachi and her pride at having managed the entire household work and the tug of war she feels everytime she has to respect Abhi's mom just because she is the elder bahu of the house, but in fact doesnt contribute much to the house.

3. Abhi's mom- I love her characterization. Just as you begin to think that she is yet another helpless abla naari, she comes up with gems like the one with Abhi and Amma, where she scolds Amms for being so passive agressive with Abhi...she is aware that she doesnt contribute to the house as much, not to mention her guilt at having a husband that left the house shedding away all his responsibilities...

4. The tokri of food going up and down- just coz Abhi's mom cannot physically contribute to the household work doesnt mean the other wont give her the chance or not include her in it. So ver refreshing from the other daily soaps where the family members would just be dishing out taanas and insults instead of actually thinking of a solution about the problem

5. The cousins are each adorable and annoying in equal measures but adoreee their love and respect for their bade bhaiiya, even a jerk like kapil 😳😆

6. Raizadas...I am actually reminded of someone very close to me when I listen to Meera's views about why her daughter should get married, so that can be as real as it can get for me 😆

7. Everyone getting together to play the mouth organ and complete the wall after the 11th girl leaves the house after not wanting to get married into the crazy pant family (really cannot blame her after the way they bombared her with the questions 😆😆)... symbolism of the fact that they might have a thousand issues with each other but when it comes to protecting their family, they were in it together. 😳

And saving the best for the last-

sigh...Rohan and Abhi...they are the reason I started watching the show in the first place and probably will be the reason even if the love story fails (although I am hoping against hope it doesnt because Meera-Rohan-Abhi are so, so special 😳).. having grown up with a spastic brother, I know exactly all of the good and bad times that come along with it ...so this subject is extremely, extremely, close to my heart and so far they have kept it so real 😳 right from the fact that Rohan is only absolutely close and open to his own people- aka his mom, his bade bhaiyya Abhi...not even Avni, because she also seems a stranger to him. He is close to his cousins, but nobody will understand him like Abhi and he can trust nobody else, too. Everyone else not understanding his predicament is understandable in a family so huge with each having their own problems... People like Rohan do not need sympathy-they just need to be treated with love and respect and considered as equals- it is only then that their confidence can be boosted and LOVED the rohan-meera interactions till now. So, for the sake of Rohan, I just hope that Meera-Abhi love story is as special to remember as is their individual bonds with Rohan. 😳

anyway, for now...just looking forward to seeing Meera navigate her way through the Pant family, coz if anybody can tackle the crazy pants-it is only the equally crazy meera😆 just like the shopkeeper from one of the episodes rightly pointed out : bhagwan iss ladki ko aur pant parivar dono ko bachaye jab unko ek dusre ke saath rehna pade 😆

Heyy! Great post!
There is definitely a touch of reality in this show which often goes displaced within a couple of days in other shows which begin off with that in mind. So I'm hoping this show maintains that :)

There are definitely some things in the show which annoy me, particularly how Abhi is basically used, but that's just a personal issue. I, quite honestly, know such issues are probably not uncommon, but that doesn't change the fact that it still angers me 😆

Regardless, as you've said, it's good that the characters aren't black or white, but rather grey. I especially loved when Abhi lashed out at his uncles, because after everything that happened, it'd be unreal if he'd just kept quiet.

I'm eager to see how the story unfolds now, but my expectations are sort of dropping. Let's see what happens.

Welcome to the forum btw :)

Ditto! This has been bothering me since the start of the show. He is being used and he is well aware of it.

The amount of patience he displays to all the wrong goings at pant bhavan is just so unrealistic to me. Or maybe its just that I am imagining myself in his shoes and feel that I would have lashed out at everybody at least once...

Was happy to see the younger cousins put in an effort to help their bade bhaiya with the wall problem. But otherwise, no one in the family except rohan and babli feel bad about the burdens placed upon Abhishek's due to other's wrong doing.

Incidents like kabir tearing up those currency notes so his cousin can't have it and not showing any regret for it at any point, ramraj endangering a person's life by replacing olive oil with groundnut oil are casually forgiven but abhishek is reminder time and again about his duties and his father's abandonment.

It will be good if they show Abhishek standing up for himself and not be used by everyone as they please. Instead of fixing every issue and letting the others carry doing the same I.e creating problems and escaping responsibility for the issue...he should let others face the consequences of their actions. Only then will others especially his younger cousins learn about responsibility.

Yes priyansh brings Abhishek's character to life. He portrays it so flawlessly that u can't help but empathise with and marvel at his strength. And it does not seem for even a second that it's an actor there not a real person!!! Have not felt the same in a long time...

be it his helplessness, or his dedication and devotion to his family, the extremely beautiful bond he shares with his disabled brother, Rohan or in fact, just the way he is totally enamoured by Meera and considers her a silent source of inspiration, aspires to be free and happy just like her, somewhere deep down in his heart, but believes (at least for now) that it is impossible. Maybe they counted Abhishek's future dulhaniya also as part of 14 member family!!

I kinda like the growing relationship between Abhishek and Meera. She manages to touch Abhishek's reality just by being herself. And Abhishek is a very sensitive person who notices the emotions behind things which she often comes up without thinking.

Ya Abhishek's silent observing but highly perspective trait seems to be inherited from her.

4. The tokri of food going up and down- just coz Abhi's mom cannot physically contribute to the household work doesnt mean the other wont give her the chance or not include her in it. You always manage to discover a show just when I am put off by it😆

And I love the irony that when we got great epis in the initial weeks, this forum was dead...and now when the show is in lame drag mode, suddenly activity spikes up😆

Abhi does try to lash out at chachus also like in Olive oil fiasco but they always escape by hitting at his weak nerve , "ur father stranded you...left the whole burden on us"...it breaks my heart...the mention of his father hurts him most...even yesterday when bubbly was lashing out and mentioned her husband one can see Abhi trying hard to control his emotions...may be he feel that he should repent for his father's mistake

Priyanshu have won my heart...compare him as titu and abhi...complete opposite characters and he nailed both characters...i didn't thought he could do mature sensible role of abhi so effortlessly ⭐️
