Part 7 (A)

Rey was tossing on his bed, wasn't able to sleep after whatever happened. Whenever he closed his eyes to sleep her face flashed in front of him. Her eyes which were full of pain, her painful shriek making him restless.

He got up from his bed and moved out from his room and walking though the hallway he stood in front of the door of her room.

He was about to knock on the door when he stopped thinking, why he is worrying about her so much... why does it matter to him if she is fine or not..?

"Because... she is my responsibility since mom-dad are not here so I've to look after her otherwise if anything happened to her then they would blame me." He reasoned to convince himself for his changed behavior.

Turning the knob he opened the door and entered inside, without creating any noise. He walked inside and stopped near the bed, where she was sleeping peacefully, this made him relieved. Her face was glowing because of the moon light and the innocence and purity on it making her more angelic.

Unknowingly his hand reached near her face and was about to touch her but she stir in her sleep which brought him back into senses and pulled his hand back.

"What I'm doing?" he scolded himself and hurriedly went back into his room and slept.

Next morning, Rey came out of his room all dressed up, ready to leave as he has some work to do before going to college. He was passing through a living room when he remembered something and moved towards kitchen, where kaka was working.

"Rey baba, breakfast bas ready hai, aap baithiye main laga deta hu." Kaka said as he saw him there.

"Nahi kaka, breakfast rahne dijiye, mujhe late ho raha hai. Main yahan bas yeh kahne aaya tha ki... woh Taani ki tabiyat theek nahi hai toh usse kahiyega ki aaj college aane ki jarurat nahi hai." He said plainly, didn't want to show his worry.

"Kya..? kya hua hai Taani bitiya ko?" kaka asked worried.

"Jyada kuch nahi.. woh bas uske pair mein zara si moch aayi hai." he replied. Kaka nodded.

Rey turned around to leave but stopped, as if his feet were not ready to move. Again turning around he walked over a counter and grabbing a sandwich from the plate he turned towards kaka, who was looking at him confusingly.

"Woh... uska khayal rakhiyega." He said in low tone, which made kaka surprised because it was the first time he had seen him concerned for Taani.

"Warna mom-dad mujhe hi blame karenge." Rey added further for covering up seeing kaka's curious stare and hurriedly left from there.

Kaka looked at his retreating back and smiled knowing that how much he would behave rudely with Taani but still he cares for her.

She opened her eyes as sunrays falls on her face, she got up and sat on the bed resting her back on bedpost. She tried to move her foot to check if it's still paining but she felt better. She looked at the clock and thought to get ready for college. She was about to get up from bed when she heard a knock on the door and then kaka entered in her room after getting her permission with breakfast.

"Arey Taani bitiya, aap uthiye mat. Aapko to moch aayi hai na. Aap aaram kijiye." kaka stopped her when he noticed she was trying to get up.

"Nahi kaka, ab main theek hu aur mujhe college bhi jana hai." she replied him.

"Bilkul nahi, aap aaj college nahi jayengi aur ghar pe hi aaram kareyengi... aur yeh mera nahi Rey baba ka order hai." kaka told her when she tried to argue which made her surprised... happily though.

Her lips curved into a small smile feeling happy that he cares for her, she even had seen it last night also. It give her a little hope that maybe he takes little time but one day or other he will accept her.

She came out of her thought hearing kaka's voice who told her to have breakfast and take some rest and leaves from there.

She came out of the bathroom after taking shower and moving towards a mirror when her cell phone ringed. She moved towards the bed and saw the caller's name.

"Hello, Rohan ji." She answered the call.

"Hii, Taani. Kaisi ho tum?" he asked from the other side, his voice held concern for her.

"Main theek hu." She replied politely.

"Ok. Tum college aa rahi ho na?" he asked.

"Nahi Rohan ji, main aaj college nahi aa rahi, woh doctor ne aaram karne ke liye kaha hai." She answered.

"I understand Taani, par kya tum thodi der ke liye college aa sakti ho, woh actually VP sir ek baar tumse milna chahte hai kyunki tumhe drama team ka part banane ke liye unki permission chahiye aur wo aaj hi milna chahte hai tumse as wo kal se kisi seminar ke liye shahar se bahar ja rahe hai. Toh kya tum aa sakti ho?" he knew she must be in pain because of the sprain but still he asked her to come because he was helpless, VP sir wants to meet her and only after his permission they can make her part of their team and starts the rehearsals.

Taani was in dilemma that, what she would do now because one side Rey has told her to not go to college and other side it's important for her to go college otherwise it'll trouble the team. But then she decided to go and thought to talk about it Rey later as she still has to tell him about her joining the drama team.

"Theek hai. main aati hu." She said.

"Ok. Main tumhara wait karunga. Bye." He replied before cut the call.

Rey was walking by the corridor when he noticed everyone is gossiping about something, he felt weird but then ignored it and went into RH, where he looked the same scenario which made him confused.

"Hi Rey." All greeted him.

"Hii... what is happening guys... is there anything happened in college?" he asked curious to know about the matter.

"What would happen, Rey, jab se wo bloody behanji iss college mein aayi hai tab se roj kuch na kuch drama ho raha hai aur ab to wo drama queen ban gayi hai." shanaya said disgustedly. Her hatred towards Taani has increased so much as she thinks because of her Rey talked to her rudely and felt insulted.

"Shanaya, can't you answer simply of my question?" Rey said in annoyed tone as he knew she is talking about Taani and he didn't like it... yeah he has his own problems with her but she hadn't done any harm to shanaya or anyone else but still she hates Taani and never leaves any chance to mistreat her.

Shanaya sulked back hearing him, this only adding fuel to her hatred for Taani.

"Woh... you remember the new girl, Taani... she is now a drama team's part and everyone talking about her only." Vicky answered Rey which made him shocked and angry too. Shocked because she hadn't told him about this and angry because she is now with his enemy. Only the thought of her being with Rohan ignited the fire within him. He was feeling betrayed and he left from there in fury leaving the gang confused with his behavior.

After sometime all forgot about that and starts doing their usual masti but one person was lost somewhere else and he was Swayam, who was still thinking about Rey. He has been observing his best friend's behavior who is behaving weirdly from last some days and more precisely from the day this new girl Taani has joined the college. He knew something is wrong with Rey and thought to talk to him later.

After leaving the RH, Rey was walking in corridor absentmindedly as he was only thinking about the news he heard some moments ago. He was angry at her that she hadn't asked from him about joining the drama team...forget about asking she hadn't even informed him this.

He was going towards fire exit when he noticed familiar figure and stopped to look at the person and got shocked when he saw the person was Taani... who was coming out of VP sir's cabin with Rohan. Seeing her with him something burned in him but then he remembered something that he had ordered kaka that not to let her come to college today and tell her to rest but she is here. Why?

He then called at home to ask about this to kaka and kaka told him that he did refuse her to not go to college but she got some call and then she left. He tried to stop her but she said she will come back soon.

He got angrier thinking that he hasn't have any importance in her life that's why she didn't keep his words and came to college and leaves for home.

"Thank you so much, Taani, mere kahne pe tum college aayi wo bhi iss condition me." Rohan thanked her genuinely as they came out of VP's cabin. He was feeling guilty that he troubled her.

"Koi baat nahi Rohanji. Yeh kaam bhi to jaruri tha na. Kya ab main ghar ja sakti hoon?" she asked as she wasn't feeling good because despite of Rey's ordered and kaka's pleadings of take rest at home she came here and that too without even informing Rey.

"Haan, chalo main tumhe ghar drop kar deta hoon." rohan suggested.

"Nahi... main chali jaungi aur waise bhi abhi to apki class hogi na." she denied politely.

"Ok. Take care, Bye." Rohan sighed knowing she won't let him drop her home.

"Bye." She gave small smiled and leaves from there.

Taani entered in home and was going towards her room but stopped when she found him in living area, pacing to and fro. She got confused seeing him back that too so early. She then thought this is right time to talk to him and tell him about her joining the drama team.

"Reyaanshji.." she called him slowly as he hadn't noticed her yet.

He stopped in his track and turned around when he heard her voice. Her sweet voice had a calming effect on him but then he ignored it when he remembered whatever happened some time ago.

"So, mil aayi apne friend se? ohh... I'm sorry... wo sirf tumhara friend thode hi hai wo to friend se kuch jyada hi hai... hai na?... aur ab to tum usse roj mil sakti ho as tumne 'uski' team jo join kar li hai. " he scoffed at her angrily. His eyes were red with fury and his jaw was clenched.

She got shocked seeing him so much angry and she knew the reason of it.

"Reyaanshji, main aapko batane wali thi ki..." She tried to explain him but he cut her off.

"Kya batane wali thi ki aur kab...? Yeh to college mein sabko pata hai, sivay mere... ya fir kuch aur bhi hai jo kisi ko nahi pata... mujhe bhi nahi?" he scoffed at her and raised his one eyebrow at her as he strode towards her and stopped some feet away.

"Reyaanshji, aisa... aisa kuch nahi hai, main aapko batana chahti thi par kal wo..." she stuttered but again he cut her off.

"SHUT UP, Taani, just shut up.." he shouted at her which made her shudder in fear.

"You know what... shanaya was right... tum jaisi chote se gauv ki ladkiyon ke dreams bahut bade-bade hote hai aur unn dreams ko pura karne ke liye tum kuch bhi kar sakti ho... kuch bhi... fir chahe kisi amir ladke ko emotionally blackmail karke usse shadi karni pade ya fir kisi aur ke samne aansuo bahakar, apna yeh innocent sa chahra dikhakar sympathy gain karni ho... bahut expert ho tum." he sneered at her in rage. She flinched in disgust hearing his accusation. Tears were streaming down from her eyes as her heart bleed seeing hatred in his eyes for her.

"Aur haan, ab jab tumne Rohan ki team join kar hi li hai toh ek baat kaan khol kar sunn lo, jitni nafrat main uss Rohan se karta hoon, utni hi uska sath dene walon se bhi karta hoon... fir chahe wo koi bhi kyun na ho... koi bhi..." he said each word clearly so she understood what he means and then left from there leaving a teary Taani behind without realizing what damage his words had done to her.

Next day was Sunday but Rey left home for to meet his friends as boys has organized a basketball match so he thought to go there to distract his mind from her. He was unable to sleep last night as his own words were making him guilty and restless but then his ego took over his guilt.

He returned back home at late evening, all tried when he found kaka was coming out from Taani's room with tray in his hands full of food and his face was showing worry. He moved up to him.

"Kya hua kaka, yeh food..?" he asked confused.

"Rey baba, wo Taani bitiya ne kal raat se kuch nahi khaya hai, aur aaj subah se to wo apne room se bhi bahar nahi aayi hai, kahin unki tabiyat na kharab ho jaye.." kaka told him in worried tone. Rey's brow knitted in confusion but then he remembered about last night and mistook it.

He went away from there and entered into her room angrily as he thought, she is doing all this drama to seek his attention and sympathy. Whole room was filled with darkness, so he switched on lights and found her sitting in the corner of the room on the floor.

He walked up to her and grabbing her arm, pulled her up with so much force that she stumbled on her feet but he held her by her arms.

"WTH do you think of yourself..? huh..? tumhe lagta hai tum yeh sab natak karogi aur main tumhare paas bhaga chala aaunga...then you're wrong, Taani, tumhara yeh innocent charm mom-dad aur baki sab par chal sakta hai but mujh par nahi... samjhi tum..." he shouted at her. He still hadn't come out of the thing her being with Rohan and whenever he thinks about it his anger increased more.

He then noticed, she wasn't looking at him and probably not even listening what he said, instead she was looking down at ground as if something precious was there, with teary eyes. He looked down and found something was lying on ground. When he pulled her up then something dropped on floor from her hand which he failed to notice before because of his anger.

He got confused as he looked it was a photo frame and his grip loosened on her arm and next moment she fell on the floor on her knees and took that photo frame which had her parents photograph in it and it was broken now, then only he realized what he had done.

He knelt down beside her on the floor and looked at her, she was looking at her parents' photo lifelessly, there was so much pain in her eyes which he failed to notice before. He felt as if someone has stabbed his heart, seeing her in pain.

He knew her parents are not alive and maybe she was missing them but what he did. His own deeds made him ashamed on himself.

He raised his hand to put it on her shoulder as he wanted to apologize to her but stopped seeing her broken condition and tears made his guilt deeper and he left from there to not hurt her more.

He entered into his gym and starts punching on bag to hurt himself but it didn't less his guilt instead it was increasing by each second. At last, he punched his fist on wall to ooze out his frustration and guilt which had result his already wounded hand bruised more and it starts bleeding but he didn't feel pain because he knew his pain was nothing in front of the pain he has given her. He sat there leaning his back on wall and closed his eyes.

As soon as he closed his eyes, he saw her. She was in the same white suit in which he had seen her first time when they went to her village. She wasn't looking less than an angel but what confused him most were her eyes, which were filled with pain and sadness.

Every scene flashed in front of him from the day he met her till now and then he realized he had never seen her smile... not even once. She always stay quiet, sometime sad and scared... scared from him.

He opened his eyes with jerk as realization drowned upon him that she always stays scared because of him... he had never behaved nicely with her for once, always hurts her with his harshness and today what he had done was unforgivable.

"I've to stay away from her... yes it's better to stay away from her as much as possible so I won't hurt her more and I can also live with peace." He thought to himself as he decided, as this is the only way they both can live peacefully but little did he know his this decision is going to be real tough for himself to stay on.
