I would say the only similarity I find with SGP is the slice of life aspect and lack of OTT-ness.

Otherwise, there are many differences...Suhana was a crazy brat while Meera is not...she may be irresponsible and lacking focus, but she isn't belligerent like Suhana generally was.

The other major difference is that Ishaan and his family in SGP were not dysfunctional like Abhi's family is in this case...there was a solid family structure there despite Bade Papa having abandoned them...here, it's Abhi who's barely holding the family together while everyone else shirks responsibility and a desire to get along.

In SGP, the main premise was about Suhana integrating into a happy, compassionate, loving joint family...while in this case, it seems more like a case of mutual evolution with both Meera and the crazy Pant family having to adjust to each other and evolve along the way. Also, Ishaan and Abhi are poles apart...Ishaan was a mousy, bullied kid while Abhi is much more responsible and takes charge as the man of the house.

Started watching this show ------ feel of joint family is same ---- but rest is different ---- Family members in this drama are greedy, lazy and nikamma types --- Instead of rooting for the joint family, I am rooting for the male lead to run away --- *😛*

You know what, this was exactly my first reaction when I started watchng the show that how is it so similar to sasural genda phool-same joint family theme, same sort of direction, same sort of story where family is finding it difficult to find girl for the boy, eldest member left d family like that of badi ma..basically it provides the same feel as sasural genda phool-subtle, realistic and lack of OTP. But it should be noted that though feel is the same , characterisation is totally different. Sgp was more about a close knit joint family loving and respectingeach other immensely and depicts how a rich spoit motherless girl enters the family and shakes the family foundation to some extent but it showed how family and especially badi ma held everything together and how suhana adjists herself.
also in that ishaan was a very meek boy bullied by everyone in family and suhana was a rich spoilt girl. Also the family was close knit wid similar opinions.
but in BBKD, abhishek is strong guy just hounded by lots of responsibilities which he cant let go bcoz of hislove for them and maybe guilt that his father left. Meera is totally different from suhana. Where suhana was naive , meera is intelligent and mature girl wid her own opinion and thoughts but a child at heart who just wants to enjoy her life. She though belongs to rich family but still care foe others and can adjust herself in any situation. Also the family members in this show , though love each other but still are lazy and selfish , and have pit all burden on abhi.
the concept of sgp was how a spoilt girl adjusts herself in a joint family. But plot of bbkd is till now not going in same direction in any form..
