On the occasion of 100thepisode of KRPKAB , I thought of exploring the journey so far .
As I live in outside India I don't get to watch much Indian TV soaps , and haven't watched any promo of the show before it aired , so when I started I felt like a cliched show where an arrogant rich hero with a troubled past meets middle classed , spunky strong headed heroine , how they hate each other and fight only to fall in love later . The story was pretty much the same so far , but let me brief ,what hooked me into this still...
- Detailing given for each character sketch - I must praise the writers for it , not only for the leads but for the supporting cast as well, the way they have showed complexity of human emotions help us understand the characters better and where they are coming from even when you get to see some negative shades .
- Realistic portrayal of each character without OTT dramas - I really need to emphasis on this point .As I always depend on online sources to watch Indian shows , I find its safe to fast forward for a minute or two if there are scenes in which heroine trips/falls into hero's hand , if there is an eye lock , if hero is admiring or mesmerized by heroine's beauty , if there is any major twist or revelation in which instance I could skip next 3-4 minutes which will be close up shocked expressions of all the family members ( sometimes even neighbors 😆) , if the hero/ heroine is hospitalized half of the episode will be hero/heroine remembering their moments and crying/talking to unconscious one ,dragged story line with unnecessary misunderstandings among lead pair. Think of all these moments in this show and how realistically they treated it .
- Lack of "vamp" - I admit we are watching a TV show in order to get the story going and making audience gripped there should be some harsh characters , but what we get to see normally are some pretty unbelievable stuff , 23-25 yr old ones killing an entire family to take the revenge of losing the hero , one's own family plotting evil plans , like seriously ? But how differently they are showing it in this show , here its not about a negative' character , but its about the circumstances that make them behave that way, and backstories make us understand them better. (Except GKB , I still don't get where she is coming from, but still feels relatable as u can see GKB's in real life too ).
- No manhandling - As I mentioned before , the first impression of hero was arrogant rich business man but what amazed me was there was nothing regressive about the show and even during the hate phase(better to call it as misunderstood phase) the kind of respect the protagonist gave to woman as opposed to some stereotypical scenes , pushing /shoving of heroine to the wall, as such .
- Soulful music - as a music lover I do believe music also plays a vital role in story telling and heart touching lyrics and soothing melodies and BG scores of KRPKAB are in their own league .
- Perfect team - Impeccable casting , here I don't only mean about their acting talents but their off-screen persona as well . Sometimes when I watch the interviews of some of my favourite actors , I realize how different they are in real even though they portray their roles very well. When I watch Shaheer's interviews I feel like there is a Dev in him, mostly guarded may be because of being hurt in the past, but when get caught off guard , or open up ,we find a childlike innocence. I always feel there is a kind of honesty , sincerity in his words , which helps him essays this character in a way that touches our heart ,even he calls Supriya ji as "maa" whom we also feel like epitome of motherhood.Likewise I saw one interview where Erica's mom says how she is proud of Erica for being able to take responsibilities even when she was younger , from the time her dad got sick and about her focus and determination to be an actor (sounds like someone?). My point is positivity , realism and simplicity we are getting from the show comes from the whole team , writers, directors, actors.
I seriously think I won't be able to describe all positives even with this lengthy post . Anyway in my first post I mentioned how the same positivity I felt in this forum which encouraged me to come forward from silent reader . But in the past week I see lots of criticizing posts , I would like to to say one thing we all are here because we love the show , everyone is entitled to their opinion , if some are criticizing why take it as personal and feel the need of defending it , they are disapproving a TV show , they also loved the show and for some reasons have different expectations . And for the critics, the smile that this show brings in our face let's try to bring it here as well, even when you are frustrated with the track/characters lets not use harsh words, not only its damaging forum's positivity but think about the team behind KRPKAB visiting our forum , how discouraging it will be for them when they are trying their best to present a light hearted show against all norms and TRPs .
So let us do positive criticism, maintaining a healthy n friendly atmosphere here and celebrate the occasion of 100 episodes and discover more colors of love in this journey.
