Chapter 6
"Rajveer Sir... !"
She is unable to trust on her own eyes. She rubs her eyes thrice. But what she is looking, not changes. She repeats herself again, this time audible to her ears only.. "Rajveer Sir.."
Tears starts flowing down from her eyes. She tries to call others but unable to speak anything. She calls with all her strength, "Ali...". But no... that was not enough. Then again she tries, this time more louder than previous, "Ali...", "Aalekh..."... and that is all for her. She starts crying quietly.
Here, First Ali hears her. He says, "Shayad Pooja hume Bula rahi hain." But Huda cuts him, "Are usool tujhe toh hamesha punjaban ki pukar sunayi deti hain. Woh toh apni kisi phoneline mein busy hongi aur..." When Huda going to say further all again perceive sound that Pooja is calling them. All notice that this is not her usual voice. Her voice is trembling. 4 boys run at first floor.
They see her crying near the door of last room in the corridor. Ali runs towards her and asks her while holding her by both of her shoulders. "Pooja, kya hua? Aap aise ro kyun rahin hain?" Pooja smiles at him with tearful face and points out inside the room.
All look at that direction where Pooja's fingure is. They see inside the room and all get numb. They stand there looking at inside the room like statue. Aalekh is first who reacts.
He steps inside the room. The room is not so big or spacious. The room has a medium size window for a natural and pure air. Near the window, there is one stand where all monitoring machines are there. Near that stand, there is one single bed, on which Rajveer is sleeping peacefully with oxygen mask on his face and all the wires of machines are attached to his body. Machines show normal heartbeats and pulse.
Aalekh sits on the stool which is near his bed. He touches his hand first and then his cheek. His tear fells on Rajveer's hand but he didn't move. He calls him, "Rajveer sir..." But no answer. Meanwhile, others also come there. Pooja sits on the corner of bed infront of Aalekh and Ali stands near Pooja holding her by her shoulders. Yudi sits another corner of bed near Aalekh and Huda stands near stand and staring his face. Silence was the only one who can feel the happenings.
"Are, bachhon kya hua. Tum sab yaha kya kar rahe ho." They come back from their daze and look at dadaji and his friend who accompanied dadaji there. Dadaji sees their teary eyes. "Bachhon, tum ro kyu rahe ho, kya hua? Kya tum isse jante ho?" Dadaji asks them confusingly.
Ali looks at all his friends. He understands that no one is in the situation to give answer to dadaji. So he asks dadaji, "Dadaji, aap jante hain ye koun hain? Aur inki ye aisi halat? Kahan mile ye aapko?"
"Are beta, badi lambi kahani hain." Aalekh stans up and gived dadaji place for seat. Yudi also follows Aalekh and helps Khurana dadaji to seat on bed. Dadaji starts to narrate them all the incidents which took place before one and half year.
"Ye dedh saal pehle ki baat hain jab hum sab picnic gaye the. Wo kya hain bachho, jab bhi hum me se kisiska beta ya family hamse milne, hamare saath rehne aati hain hum ek din picnic pe jate hi hain. Hume bhi toh saal bhar yaha rehke badlav ki jarurat hoti hain. Aur akele toh jaa nahin sakte. Toh saal mein kabhi bhi koyi aaye jo humein le jaa paye hum chale jaate hain. Mujhe yaad hain barish ka mahina tha aur ittafaq se mera aur iss Khurana ka beta ek hi waqt pe aaye the. Toh humne tay kiya ke najdeek se najdeek Ambala fort pe jayenge.
Waha jaake humein kisine ye kaha ke aaj waha army ka bada mission hain aur hum waha ruk nahin sakte. Waha bahot sankhya mein black uniform pehne aur haath mein gun liye jawan the." All 5 understand that all jawans about whom dadaji is talking were none other than Gehlot's man who attacked Rajveer. They look at each other with meaningful gaze and again turn their attention to dadaji.
Now Khurana dadaji continues, "... Hum sab bade mayus ho gaye. Phir Karunaji ne bataya ke jungle ke pass ek acha sa resthouse hain jo fort ke piche ki taraf hain. Toh hum sab ne faisla kiya ke hum waha jaake rukenge par picnic cancel nahin karenge. Jab tak hum waha gaye hume bahot sari goliyon ki aawaj sunayi dena shuru ho gaya. Humein laga ke army ka opration shayad shuru ho gaya hoga. Hamari toh picinic paani mein chali gayi. Wahi resthouse ke room mein baith ke sab khatam hone ka hum intejaar karne lage."
"Kuch ghanto baad sab shant ho gaya. Toh hum neeche utre. Barish ka mousam tha toh watavaran bhi kafi prasanna tha."
"Prasanna means?" Yudi asks abruptly but after looking at his friend's faces, he understands that, he did a mistake. So he says, "Wo ... sorry.. continue dadaji."
Malhotra Dadaji laughs and replies, "Koi baat nahin bete. Prasanna ka matlab hain pleasant. Toh humne cricket khelna start kiya. Aur galtise ball jungle mein chala gaya. Aur hamare Varma sahab ball dhoondne nikal gaye jungle mein. Hamare mana karne ke bawjood. Wo bahot der nahin aaye tab mera beta, Khurana ka beta, Khurana aur main usse khojne nikle. Wo mil nahin raha tha aur humne dekha ke waha military bhi thi. Koi chan bin chal rahi thi shayad. Kisiko dhoond rahe the wo log.
Main chupaunga nahin lekin main thoda dar gaya tha. Ek toh Varma mil nahin raha tha aur uparse mujhe kuch toh gadbad bhi lag rahi thi. Varma ko khojte khojte hum jungle ke fort wale hisse mein aaye. Lekin saansein chal rahi thi. Humne jab uska purse check kiya toh hume "Captain Rajveer singh Shikhawat" ke naam ka card mila aur ye do(2) photo mile.
Dadaji opens the small cupboard near the bed where some glucose bottles and other medicines are there. Dadaji stretches his hand in order to reach behind corner of cupboard and takes out two photographs and gives to Aalekh. Everybody looks at the photographs in Aalekh's hand. In that two photos, one photo is of Naveen and Rajveer in army uniform and they placed their hands on each other's shoulders. And the other of Rajveer and Naina, where they were dancing in valentine's night, the day of Rajveer and Ritu's engagement. They all have tears in their eyes after looking at those photographs.
Khurana Dadaji continues, "Humein to kuch samajh nahin aa raha tha ke kya kare. Itna toh pata chal gaya ke ye army se tha. Toh humein laga ke shayad army use hi khoj rahi hogi. Toh humne tay kiya ke hum jawanon ko iske baare mein bata denge." They all look at both of them terrifyingly. Looking at their faces Malhotra dadaji says, "Are tum logon ko kya hua..? Suno toh pehle. Jab main aur mera beta unko batane jaa rahe the toh najdeek ke bridge par se jorose aawaje aane lagi.
Koi kisipe chilla raha tha aur keh raha tha ke kya matlab hain tumhara ke wo Captain nahin mila. Agar uski laash humein nahin mili toh sir humein nahin chodenge. Usko dhoondo aur maro. Agar wo jinda bach gaya toh hamare sahab bade mushkil mein aayenge. Wo unhe kahi ka nahin chodega aur hamare saare illegal kaam duniya ke saamne aa jayenge.
Ye sunkar humein pata chala ke ye log army ke jawan nahin hain aur ye iske jaan ke piche pad gaye hain khudko bachane keliye. Pehle toh hum bahot dar gaye. Jab maine Khurana ko aake sab bataya toh usne kaha ke kahin hamari jaan mushkil mein naa aa jaye. Uska kehna bhi sahee tha par aise kisiko marne ke liye chodna mere swabhav mein nahin hain. Maine mere bete se kaha ke agar ho sake toh isko bacha lete hain. Khurana ke bete ne bhi haan kaha. Pucho mat beta, wo 15 minute mere zindagi ke sabse daravne 15 minute the jab hum isse chupte chupate rest house le gaye. Aalekh gives him water from the near table. Dadaji cleans his sweat on forehead. Then Aalekh asks restlessly, "Phir kya hua?"
Dadaji looks at him with smile and replies, "Phir mere bete ne apne apne kisi dost ko phone kiya aur chupchap gadi le aane ko kaha. Maine baki sabko iss Khurana ke saath yaha wapas bhej diya. Hum tino unn logon ke najron se bachke jaise taise isse hospital leke aaye. Hospital lane mein waisehi der ho gayi thi. Bhagwan ki daya se ye bach gaya lekin coma mein chala gaya. Wo doctor Khurana ke bete ke school ka dost nikla toh humne jab usko sab bataya toh usne kaha ke woh hamari madad karega.
Uske dusre hi din wo log ise khojte khojte hospital aa gaye. Uss doctor bete ne kisi tarah unhe roka ye kehke ki inke pass koi warrant nahin hain. Lekin humein pata chala ke isse yaha rakhna bhi thik nahin. Toh doctor ne kaha ke hum isse sari equipments ke saath yaha shift kar sakte hain. Humein uss waqt yahi thik laga. Hum me se jinki pension aati hain, jinke bachhe paise bhejte hain unhone kahan ke hum kharch kar sakte hain aur waise bhi hum sabko itne saare paison ki jarurat nahin padti. Jinke bachhe unhe milne bhi nahin aate aise hamare doston ne kaha ke hum sab milke iska kharcha karenge. Chahe kitne bhi din, mahine ya saal lage.
Par doctor ne kaha ke agar ye apnon ke bich rahe, apnon ke mahol mein rahe toh jaldi thik ho jayega. Par humein toh iske baare mein kuch pata nahin tha. Aur kisiko puch bhi nahin sakte the kyunki iske jaan ko khatra tha. Tabse ye yahi hain. Roj subah sham hospital me se wardboy aata hain jo Rajveer bete ke baki ke kaam dekhta hain jaise ki kapde badlana, shaving karna. Aur hafte mein ek baar doctor aake check kar jate hain. Wo fees nahin lete lekin iss sari medical equipments, injections, uss wardboy ki salary inn sab ka jitna kharcha aata hain wo hum sab milke karte hain."
All are staring at dadaji. Gratitude is evident on each of their faces. Aalekh kneels down near dadaji. He has tears. With heavy voice he says, "Dadaji, aapun ko kya kahe kuch smajh mein nahin aa rela hain. Aapko shukriya kaise kahe. Aapne hamare captain sir ko bachaya. Unko yaha itne pyar se rakha. Aapko pata nahin aapne aapun sab ke liye kya kiya hain. Aapun aaj jo kuch bhi hain inke karan hain. Inko aapun ne bahot dhoonda. Inko pane ki umeed aapun kho raha tha. Dadaji, kya ye kabhi uthe?"
Dadaji also gets emotional after listening Aalekh's words, he replies, "Sirf Ek baar Rajveer bete ko hosh aaya tha. Lekin uss waqt usne kisi Naveen aur Naina ka naam liya aur kaha ke Naina main Naveen ko jarur bekasur sabit kar dunga. Mujhpe vishwas karo. Bas.. itna kehke phirse behosh ho gaya. Tab doctor ne kaha ke agar Naina ya Naveen inse baatein kare toh shayad jaldi thik ho jaye. Ye teen mahine pehle ki baat hain. Aur hum toh kisiko jaante nahin the. Lekin hum iske saath baatein karte hain. Hamare baare mein batate hain. Kayi baar yaha baithke baatein karte hain taki iske aaspass ka mahol acha rahe. Ab hum mese har koi ek manjil chadhke yaha aa nahin sakta. Jinko takleef nahin hoti wo aa jate hain. Main aur Khurana baaju ke hi room mein sote hain. Baki sab neeche."
"Dadaji, kya hum inko hamare saath le ja sakte hain?" Huda asks. All looks at Huda as if he has asked same question which everyone wanted to ask.
Both dadaji looks at each other and Khurana dadaji says, "Dekho bachhon, hum bhi yahi chahte hain ke Rajveer beta apnon ke bich rahe aur jaldi thik ho jaye. Tum sab isko leke gaye toh iski aur achese dekhbhal ho payegi. Lekin ab humein bhi iski aadat ho gayi hain. Isse ek rishta jud gaya hain."
Khurana dadaji takes Rajveer's hand in his. Then Ali says, "Hum samajh sakte hain. Aur humein toh lagta hain ke aapse achi dekhbhal toh shayad hum bhi naa kar paaye. Ye aapke kuch nahin lagte phir bhi aapne inke liye itna kuch kiya. Hum aapko vachan dete hain ke jis din hamare sir bilkul thik ho jayenge hum inhe aapke pass le aayenge."
Malhotra dadaji says, "are Khurana aisa kya kar raha hain. Hum bhi toh yahi chahte the le Rajveer bete ke apne mil jaye. Aur dekh, kitna bhi naa kahe lekin budhe toh hum ho gaye hain. Inhe jaane de. Bachhon hum neeche jaake ambulance aur doctor bete ko bulate hain. Chalo Khurana."
Dadaji gets up from the stool and turns to go. But then again turns back and keeps his hand on Rajveer's forehead and then moves from his hairs. Khurana dadaji puts his hand on Malhotra dadaji's shoulder and gestures him to come. They both go downstairs.
Here, all are looking at Rajveer happily with big smile and happy tears on their faces. Yudi breaks the silence first, as usual, "guys, am I dreaming?" Pooja listens to him and pinches him hard. Yudi shouts, "Ouchhh.. pooja, what are you doing. Ek toh mujhe pehle hi vishwas nahin ho raha ke humein hamare Rajveer sir mil gaye. Kal hi toh humne decide kiya tha ke hum sir ko jarur dhoond lenge. And see."
Pooja says smilingly, "Haan Yudi.. sahi keh raha hain tu. Aakhir sir ka call humse connect ho hi gaya. Kitna try kia hum sabne ke connection jud jaye humara sir se aur dekho aaj jud gaya." Pooja hugs Ali.
"Aaj humko hamare Captain sir phir mil gaye. Aur mera ye wada hain ke main sir ko uthake rahunga." Huda starts crying. Aalekh keeps his hand on his head and says, "Tu akela nahin hain. Aapun sab hain. Jasti shaanpatti nahin chalegi." After listening to Aalekh's words Huda hugs him tightly. Yudi look at their friends who are taking each other's emotional support. So he says annoyingly, "Guys, maine kya kia yaar. Mujhe bhi toh lo. Mujhe bhi rona hain." Aalekh smiles at him and gestures him to join them and Yudi hugs Huda and Aalekh like a baby.
After some minutes, Ali asks, "Lekin hum sir ko kaha leke jayenge? KMA?" As soon as Ali finishes with his questions Huda replies immediately, "Nahin, main sir ko KMA naa le jane wala. Mere bhaison ki kasam, main uss jhabrile ko yeh pata bhi nahin chalne dunga ke hamare Captain sir mil gaye hain. Aur aap mese abhi koi kisiko kuch naa batane wala. Samajh lio sabke sab. Aur wo jhabrila abhi KMA mein hi hain. Wo toh acha hua kisi kaam se bahar gaya hain toh usse milne ki naubat nahin aayi. Yudie, tujhe kuch problem hain agar hum Rajveer sir ko tumhare ghar leke gaye toh?"
Yudi looks at him astonishingly and says, "What are you saying bro? Mujhe kya problem hogi Rajveer sir mere ghar rahe toh. Hum unko wahi leke jayenge aur kisiko kuch nahin batayenge. Don't you worry."
Aalekh's phone starts ringing. Screen flashes Naina's name. All look at each other. Pooja says, "Aalekh, Naina ko abhi kuch mat batana."
"Haan Qaidi, punjaban sahi keh rahi hain. Wo bina vajah tension mein aa jayegi. Usse bol Yudi ke ghar jaye aur hamara wahi intejaar kare." Huda supports Pooja.
First, Aalekh controls his emotions and then picks up the phone, "Haan, Naina bol. Ho gaya tera kaam?" He asks her.
"Haan Aalekh, mera kaam toh ho gaya. Waise tune phone uthane mein itni der kyun kar di? Kya bahot masti kar rahe ho kya tum sab mere bina? Naina asks.
"Nahin Naina. Tu kya bol rahi hain. Tere bina kaisi masti." Aalekh replies.
"Acha wo chod. Maine ye batane ke liye phone kiya ke main yahase nikal rahi hun. Auto ya taxi leke main pahonch jaungi." Naina informs him about her plans while coming out of KMA.
"Nahin Naina.. tu mat nikal." Aalekh shouts on phone.
"Aalekh, kyun kya hua? Tu chilla kyun raha hai." Naina asks hin surprisingly.
"Wo Naina, aapun sorry hain. Aapun ke kehne ka matlab tha ke tu Yudi ke ghar jaa. Aapun sab wapas aa rahe hain." Aalekh tells her.
Naina halts in her way. "Aalekh, sach sach bata. Kya hua hain? Tum log wapas kyun aa rahe ho?"
"Naina, kabhi toh aapun ki baat sun. Aapun tereko sab batayega. Pehle tu Yudi ke ghar ja." Aalekh is very well knows that he can't hide anything from Naina. Naina can easily read him through his voice also.
"Thik hain. Lekin Yudi ke ghar jau kaise? Mere pass keys kahan hain?" Naina tells him one genuine problem.
Aalekh looks at Yudi enquiringly and asks, "Keys?"
Yudi snatches his mobile and replies to Naina, "Hii Naina.. its Yudi. Dekho hamare neighbours hain Upadhyay uncle unke pass hamesha ek spare key rehti hain. Tum unke pass se key le lo. Main unhe inform kar dunga ke tuna a rahi ho."
"Thik hain Yudi. Thank you." Naina says while walking on the road.
"You are always welcome Naina. See you soon. Bye." Yudi cuts the call.

Naina catches auto but she feels something unusual. She think in mind, "Yeh log aise wapas kyun aa rahe hain? Kuch toh jarur hua hain jo koi mujhe bata nahin raha hain? Kya ho sakta hain? Naina starts panicking now.

Here, at Vintage House, everyone is at downstairs now. Doctors and ambulance are already there. They complete almost all shifting procedure. Doctor is talking now with them, "Dekho, waise toh itne mahino mein koi problem nahin hua. Aage bhi nahin hoga. Wo hamare treatment ko respond kar rahe hain. Inhone aapko bataya toh hoga ke teen mahino pehle inko halkasa hosh aaya tha. Well, let me tell you, it's a good sign. Lekin ho sakta hain ke mahol badlane se kuch problems aaye. Agar aapko kuch bhi kabhi bhi laga, meri madad ki jarurat padi then let me know without hesitation. Here, take my card. Mere ward boys aur assistant aapke saath aake sab settle kar denge. Pareshani ki koi baat nahin. Let's hope for the best."
All express their gratitude to doctor for whatever he had done and is doing for their Rajveer sir. Doctor smiles and assures them that Rajveer will wake up soon. Then all 5 go to all dadajis and dadis who have tears in their eyes. They fold their hands infront of them to show gesture of thank you with tears. Malhotra Dadaji holds their hand and says, "Iski koi jarurat nahin bachho. Mujhe khushi hain ke Rajveer bete ko uske apne mil gaye. Aaj ki hamari mulakat shayad isi karan se hui. Main aaj bahot khush hun. Bas ye thik ho jaye toh batana aur ho sake toh milte rehna. Humein acha lagega agar tum sab humse milne aaya karoge."
Huda says, "Are dadaji aisa kyun keh rahe hain aap? Hume apne potey hi samajho. Jab bhi jarurat pade phone kar lena. Aur hum toh aapka picha chodne se rahe. Zindagi ki sabse badi khushi di hain aapne aaj hume. Bas aap sab apna khayal rakhna aur hamesha aise hi rehna. Kabhi dukhi mat hona."
All 5 take their leave after saying good bye to all. Aalekh, Yudi and Huda sit in ambulance. Ali and pooja sit in Jeep. They all wave them good bye and starts with their journey. When they has came there, they were five and now when they depart that place, they are six.

At Yudi's place, Naina is impatiently waiting for them to come back. She is sensing that something is going to happen but what. She is unable to find out. She holds her head with both of her hands and sits on sofa in living room. At that very moment, she hears sound of ambulance and horn of jeep. She runs outside the house without wasting even one mili second.
