Does RGV get the credit he deserves?

As the title says, does he? I mean I think there is no one person that has contributed to Bollywood and its quality than RGV through his movies, actors he has introduced, directors who have coming

For one, he was first film makers to become a mainstraim giant while still working in parallel cinema..say Satya, Kaun, Shiva,Company,Jungle

Number of genres he has traied

Shiva -- Student Politics

Satya , Company ,Sarkar Series-- Gangster Epics. Satya is referrenced by internal audience and even directors like Danny boyle as best movie to come out of india..and is always placed in top 10 movies ever made india

Kaun -- Pyshcological thriller

Bhooth ,raat -- horror

Daud- comedy and road movie

caper film -- Jungle

first succesful anthology film -- Darna zaroori hai

First suc

Road movies like Anaganaga oka roju(telugu), Road, Daud With those he has started a trend of mumbai noir movies which was not existent before

Provided the story for an Epic called Dil se

Produced /Wrote /screenplay for Shool -- National award for best film that year

Produced some ground breaking movies like Shool, ek hasina thi, Ab tak chappan

Also tried some movies which challenged the society... my wife's murder, nishabh ..which may or may not be good...but definately pushed boundaries of indian cinema into the taboo territory( we appreciate lolita and american beauty...why not make something on the lines?)

Movies that dealt with philosophy of life with reference to ayn rand etc -- Naach

even the erotic undertones like in rangeela pushed the envolope for 90's conservative india

All the mainstream Directors today who are known for their content driven films all started out under varma as assistants or in his productions

started the trend of making niche films with niche concept for limited audience...

With so many achievements, dude does not even get mentioed today...when far far inferior film makers are celebrated..like of imtiaz are nothing in front of rgv's contribution to cinema..leave fake film makers like kjo and slb.

Back in those days, I used to love his films, not just me but my cousins as well. Satya, Kaun, Kshana Kshanam (Telugu) are like my all time favourites. He used niche subjects but he very well knew how to blend commercialism in them. Shiva had fabulous songs, satya had a sweet tender story going on amidst full on violence, the humour in kshana kshanam was totally bang on. Rangeela too was a perfect blend of everything. Company, Jungle, Bhooth and Govinda govinda too are the films, I enjoyed. He introduced the audience to a genre of films, that wasn't too familiar before. His films had a peculiar tone which was a first in those days and we used to totally enjoy it.

But off late the kind of shit he has been churning, it is difficult to even sit through their trailers. They give off such pervy vibes, it's so awkward and uncomfortable. He is somebody who is set to destroy his own legacy. A few bad films, anybody can tolerate but if one goes on a spree , you can't help but cringe and roll your eyes. Too much self indulgence is the reason why nobody takes him seriously these days.

On topic:

RGV was celebrated all over and deservedly so for all the achievements stated in the first post TILL Aag happened. Something snapped in RGV after its release and the kind of reaction it got, he hasn't been the same person since.

Feared something similar would happen with Anurag Kashyap after Bombay Velvet but his interview with Rajeev Masand was reassuring and Raman Raghav was enough to say he didn't loose it all.

Good films or not, they don't deserve to be clubbed along with the rest because the rest are way way way beyond terrible.

I never liked RGV's movies as they were all about violence and underworld. The only movie I liked was Kaun and Bhoot and that too only the first part of Bhoot as the ending was bad.
