As she slowly walked through the corridor that led towards her room, Jaya recollected the conversation that she had overheard between Adarsh and dad and mom a few minutes ago.

Jhoot bola hai mom. Dad ne jhoot bola hai. Aapse bhi aur mujhse bhi.

Adarsh, tumhe apni biwi ko support karna hai toh karo, lekin mere pati ke against mein kuch nahi sun sakti. 30 saal mein mere pati ne kabhi bhi mujhse jhoot nahi bola hai.

Yahi mom. Yahi Blind Belief jo hum dad pe karte hai, iska faida utaya hai inhone *slap*

Get out, get out of here Adarsh

With that, Adarsh had walked out, walked out of the house. Just like that. How could he? Jaya could not remember another time when mom had been more upset. And dad, he had been plain hurt. He had not even lifted his eyes once to meet that of Adarsh's or mom's. What is wrong with Adarsh? He accused mom of having blind trust on dad? Could he not see that it was he who had blind trust on Swadheenta? In his love for her, he was accusing his own father of treachery? He was breaking his mom's heart?

As she walked in to her room, she saw that Jai was already in bed, fast asleep. She slowly walked towards him and sat on the bed next to him. Tenderly touching his hair, she noticed how peaceful he looked. She gently touched her lips to his forehead and sat on the bed looking at his sleeping form. She remembered his words from a few nights ago, his words where he had praised Adarsh referring to him as an ideal husband, while demeaning himself as an unworthy one. She smiled to herself If you know what your brother has now done, you will be so ashamed of him Jai, you will be so hurt she thought to herself. We have seen so many bad things these last few days. This entire family is falling apart, all because of Swadheenta, and now Adarsh too. But I will stand by you Jai, I promise. You are a good man. I cannot tell you how lucky I feel to have you. I will always stand by your side, no matter what. We will get through this Jai. We have not done anything wrong. Adarsh has been misguided by his love for Swadheenta. He will see sense soon she thought in her mind.

As she sat thinking, she heard a knock on the door. She quickly got out of bed lest Jai gets disturbed. She opened the door quietly to see mom standing at the door. She could tell that mom was upset. Before she could say anything mom asked her if she could talk to Jai. But mom, Jai toh so gaye hai already. Should I wake him up?

No Jaya. let it be. I will talk to him in the morning.

Not knowing what else to say Jaya nodded her head. As Suhasini started walking back, Jaya quickly held her hand Mom, I saw Adarsh walking out of the house. Aap chinta mat keejiye. He is in love and has been influenced by it. He will realize his mistake soon and come back. Everything will be ok.

Suhasini gave Jaya a blank look and went back. Sighing Jaya came back into the room and got into bed. The last few weeks since Abhay's death had been tough. Swadheenta's insensitivity had been beyond her comprehension. Despite Swadheenta's relationship with the Jilani's, everyone was willing to accept her into the family without a question. But still she had insisted on fighting for a terrorist. I cannot believe that I supported Adarsh attain his love. I should have realized that Swadheenta is a stubborn girl who will be a misfit in this family. If she cannot care for her brother-in-law who had accepted her as his sister, then how could she care for anyone else? I made a mistake. I should never have encouraged Adarsh. I should have insisted on him marrying Vanshika she thought in her mind for the millionth time. She turned to look at Jai's sleeping form. I got lucky, she thought to herself again. Smiling lightly, she turned off the lights to get some sleep.

As always, Jaya woke up at 6 AM. She quickly freshened up and got the morning coffee started. She wasn't sure if she should take a pot to mom's room. She decided not to. She carried one pot with 2 cups to her room. Jai had just woken up and was making the bed when she went in. Good morning she smiled at him.

Morning! I will quickly freshen up and join you.

Ok. Come soon.

Just as Jaya was pouring coffee into their cups, mom walked in to their room. Mom, Good morning

Is Jai up Jaya? I want to talk to him

Yes mom. He is freshening up. Aap aaiye. Let me get another cup. You have your coffee here. Please, baitiye na.

Ok.

Jaya served Suhasini a cup of coffee and as she sat down to wait for Jai, she went to the kitchen to get another cup for herself. She noticed that Mahesh was in the kitchen and asked him to take some coffee for dad. Advising him on what to get started for breakfast, Jaya walked back towards her room. As she neared, she could hear mom's raised voices

Don't lie to me Jai. If my instincts serve me right, I know that I have been lied to enough already. I cannot deal with any more lies. Not anymore

Mom, please listen to me

I am Jai. I am listening to you. But I only want to hear the truth. Adarsh is right, isn't he? Swadheenta has been right all along, hasn't she? Asad and Professor Jilani are innocent, right? Suhasini's voice was steady, but even without seeing her, Jaya could tell that it was calculated. It was the voice and tone that she used in court. There was a conviction in mom's voice. Although her voice sounded calm now, it was anything but that. Jaya neared the door and waited, hesitant to enter.

I am tired mom, tired of this. These lies. I have been covering up for dad all my life. Adarsh may have thought of dad to be his idol all along, but he never followed dad blindly. I did! But not anymore mom. I have already lost one brother, I cannot afford to loose another. Jai looked down at the carpet on the floor, and remained quiet for the next few minutes. Jaya could see that Jai was thinking intently, as if trying to choose the right words. She realized that she felt numb. There was a slight pain in her heart, and she could tell that it wasn't physical. As her mind made sense of all these reactions, a sudden fear gripped her heart. She stood silently, waiting for Jai to speak.

Finally, Jai lifted his head again to look at his mother There was an internal inquiry. All the evidence available proved beyond reasonable doubt that the Jilani's were innocent victims. The cops had not seen Asad shoot at Abhay. Yash's team even seemed surprised that Yash admitted to Asad being a terrorist, because according to them, he had appointed Asad to provide information regarding any happenings in his college. Asad had been appointed to be Yash's informer. Some officer's in Yash's team recognized Asad after the shoot-out because they had seen Yash, Abhay and Asad talking together that night. One even went on to state that he had overheard a conversation between Yash, Abhay and Asad where Abhay was saying that it was Asad who had called them and helped them identify the location of the first bomb site. They diffused the bomb there. Every evidence pointed to their innocence mom. But if that came out, the system would look bad. It would have to own up to the fact that in their lapse, they had killed an innocent boy who was trying to help. It would mean a lapse in the system on so many accounts. Hence the minister asked dad and me to cover this thing up. he wanted us to ensure that the Jilani's were convicted. And we did. We used Allen Broad, Yash, everyone available to lie, plant evidence against the Jilani's. We did everything. But Adarsh found out. He found out the truth and confronted me about it yesterday. Yet again, I asked him to shut up and not do a thing. Swadheenta would loose the case, and things would slowly settle down I told him. Jai laughed at his own statement. Nothing is ok mom. Dad is sick, sick for power. And I have become like him, willing to do anything for power. Even if it means destroying the life of my own brother, and sister like sister-in-law! This is who I am!

The cup that Jaya held in her hand slipped from her hand and landed on the floor breaking into a million pieces, just like her heart. Jai and Suhasini looked towards the source of noise and saw a distraught Jaya. As soon as their eyes met, Jai lowered his eyes in shame. He could not see the unspoken questions in her eyes. He knew he had no answers to any. Suhasini got up from her seat and walked towards the door, towards Jaya. She put a hand on Jaya's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. With that, tears in her own eyes, Suhasini walked away for she now had many things to handle. But Jaya could not move. She could see nothing else but Jai. She continued to look towards him, willing him to look back, hoping in her heart that this was all untrue, and that he will somehow clarify it. But he didn't. He couldn't even bring himself to look at her.

With a sense of urgency Jaya rushed to Jai's side I know that I misunderstood something I heard. Yeh sach nahi ho sakta. Haina?

He continued to avoid looking at her and had his head bent low.

Jai? You wouldn't do anything like this. Zarooth kya hai aapko? Sab kuch toh hai aapke paas? Why would you do something like this? Nahi, kuch toh misunderstanding hai She tried to reason.

He continued to sit without moving, without even attempting to speak.

Swadheenta? Asad? Asad is dead Jai! Swadheenta kept telling us he was innocent. You knew all along that he was innocent but didn't say anything? Nahi nahi. Please, please tell me this is not true.

Jai didn't move!

Jaya was now beginning to get restless. She started feeling breathless. Breathing heavily she said Asad died a martyr? Like Abhay? And you denied him justice for so long? Even after knowing what it was doing to mom? To Adarsh? To Swadheenta? To the Jilani's? How do you expect me to believe this? You are a good man.. I know you are!

At this Jai turned his head away from Jaya, as if even listening to her was painful.

Jaya now again remembered Jai's words from a few nights ago Adarsh is an ideal husband, I am an unworthy one. I am even unworthy as a person! As the enormity of the situation dawned on her she gasped. Hearing her gasp, Jai looked at her and extended his hands to hold her Jaya

No, No! Don't touch me! Please, don't touch me! With that Jaya turned around and started walking away from her room as fast as her feet would caary her, through the same corridor that she had walked through last night, but so many things had changed. As she walked, she remembered all her venomous words to Swadheenta

Kaash ki Adarsh ne Vanshika se hi shaadi kar li hoti. Atleast woh Abhay ke kaatil ke liye ladti toh nahi!

Hamare acchayi ka faida mat uto Swadheenta. Uss terrorist ke liye hamare ghar mein rone ki zarooth nahi hai!

Yeh Swadheenta ko samajna mere liye naamumkin ho raha hai. Woh apni baat prove karne ke liye dad ka naam kharaab karegi? How low can she get?

Her own bitter words kept ringing in her ears, as were Swadheenta's pleading ones

Vanshika! Ungrateful! Terrorist! He is innocent! Mera bhai terrorist nahi tha! Mere maamu terrorist nahi hai!

When she found it impossible to withstand anymore, she covered her ears tightly with both her hands. No, no, please! Please! She felt like she couldn't breathe anymore. The house was making her feel claustrophobic. She needed to get out. She had to get out. As she tried to take another step towards the main door, she felt herself buckling. Her knees first hit the floor and she instinctively put her hands in front to break as fall. She was gasping, gasping for breath.

In that moment she realized that despite all her emotional disturbance, confusion, heart-break, uncertainly, to her dismay there was one point of absolute clarity. It wasn't Adarsh after all who shared a blind trust on his spouse. It was her! And her blind trust had been broken, never to be fixed again. Ever!

Perfect! Just plain perfect! Couldn't have been better.
The way Jaya trusted Jaidev blindly, something like this was so needed in the show. I was majorly disappointed with the CVs for the way that they treated the entire JJ track and their story. Jai's acceptance was rushed, the romance seemed forced and the end, when Jaya said that even if Asad and the Gilanis are innocent it will be very difficult for Swadheenta to prove it, it was annoying. There was not a single moment of remorse or shock on part of Jaya and I hated it.

I'm taking care of the first two 😛 and your OS took care of the last bit. So between the two of us, we have JJ under control and the way we wanted them. 😆

I enjoyed reading about the emotional turbulence within Jaya after she realised how wrong she was. The part where she pushed away Jai and asked him not to touch her was the icing on the cake. 😃

😲 This is about her realization of truth. Her fall... Uske girne ke baare mein bhi nahi padna chahti? 😆

No worries. Chod de...!

I felt what was shown of her redemption or the lack of it was unrelatable. So, I had to write something to bridge the gap in my own head. 😊
