Prologue
Yash was sitting in the restaurant and was shocked at what he saw. He walked over to him and demanded to see him outside.
"Who is that woman, Prashant?"
"What has it got to do with you?"
"Where is Aarti?"
"How should I know? She is your wife."
He grabbed Prashant by his collar and shoved him against the wall.
"Prashant. You don't want to test me right now."
"Alright, let me go."
He left Prashant go and pulled his shirt back."
"Start talking"
"I really don't know where she is. That night was the last time I saw her. She ran out after you and I never saw her again."
"And the child?'
"What child?'
"Don't tell me you didn't know she was pregnant."
"No I didn't. But what difference would it make to me."
"It could have been yours"
"Then it had to be Immaculate Conception, because I never ... We never slept together."
"But that night ..."
"That night, she came to her mother but they were not home. I saw her and took her to my place. She was soaking wet and we were getting out of the rain. She was upset and I tried to comfort her. But that was it. That was all you saw. Nothing more. Hey, I wouldn't have minded. All the time we dated before you got married, she was pretty much frigid. But it's a bit late to ask now isn't it?"
Yash stopped listening he walked away, in a trance. He didn't know if he could believe Prashant. He didn't want to believe him. He couldn't believe him. Because I he did it meant that he had made the biggest mistake of his life. And he lost his wife and child for nothing. No, not for nothing, because of his on stupidity, his own insecurities and mistrust.
What had he done?
Note: I will try as best I can to complete this early this week.
