It was 16 years ago, when Kareena Kapoor Khan started her journey in Bollywood with J.P. Dutta's Refugee and the actress has not looked back since then. Bebo has starred in many critically and commercially successful movies. Here's a look back at her career with some of her most memorable films:

Refugee

We start off the list with Kareena's debut film, Refugee which was directed by J.P. Dutta. The movie was a moderate success and the 5th highest-grossing film of 2000. Kareena won a Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

K3G was Kareena's breakout role and her character Poo, had a major impact on the younger generation. She was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Asoka

Starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena's role as a warrior princess was highly appreciated. She was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Chameli

At the time when actresses were skeptical about choosing roles that shed a bad light on them, Kareena starred inChameli where she essayed the role of a prostitute.

Yuva

With power-packed ensemble cast of Rani Mukerji, Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena made her own mark in Mani Ratnam's Yuva.

Dev

Kareena's performance in Dev was subdued and mature, unlike the lively and modern characters that she is known to portray. She won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).

Omkara

Omkara was an Indian adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello. Although underrated, Kareena excelled in her performance as Dolly (Desdemona)

Jab We Met

Kareena's portrayal of Geet was loved by critics and masses alike and her chemistry with Shahid Kapoor was undeniable. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Kurbaan

Kareena enacted the role of Avantika, an average modern day woman sucked into the world of terror and violence. This film demanded from Kareena some of her most emotionally draining and charged scenes.

Golmaal 3

Comic timing doenst come easy to everyone...but it sure does to Mrs. Kapoor Khan! Kareena played Daboo, a Tomboy who indulges in cussing and gaaliyan galore, and is always one step ahead of the boys!

Talaash

Ethereal is an understand to describe Rosy in Talaash. Kareena was a vision. Subtle, seductive, soft, mysterious, with just the right amount of sass. Her performance was the most appreciated in the film along with Nawazudin's.

Ki & Ka

Kareena essayed the role of a modern-day independent woman who breaks stereotypes. The movie was a success and her performance was lauded by all quarters.

Udta Punjab

Kareena's recent release was amid controversies, but the end justified the means. She did sincere justice to her role along with Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.

We love you Bebo, from Poo to Geet and Kiya, you never fail to surprise us!

She looked eternal in Kurbaan, like the peak of her beauty
I remember copying that look for the lonngest time.

Anyways Yay, her career had ups and downs but when she tries shes such an amazing actress, its a shame thinking how much more it could have been but then you see her interviews and how happy she is atm with her marriage and everything so I can't hate.

I just hope now, the few movies she does are more performance ordinate instead of flowerpot, all I ask for. No matter what she's still one of my favorite actresses and def. my fashion icon.
I remember loving her since I saw this song/video

Truly an illustrious career.
I remember when she arrived and made an instant stamp - even with a flop film.
Then she immediately became a teen icon.
Struggled for a few years to find her niche then hit the jackpot with JWM.
She's been knocking out class performances ever since then - once again, even in flop films (Heroine, Kurbaan, Tashan).
I do wish she didn't fall for flowerpot roles a few years ago. Thankfully she's over that phase (?)
More Ki + Ka and Udta Punjab, less Bodyguard/Bajrangi Bhaijaan please.

Kareena Kapoor has cemented her place amongst the greatest of the greats along with the likes of Meena, Jaya, Nargis, Rehka, Nutan, Kajol, Madhuri, Sridevi, Rani, Aishwarya.

My Top 6 Fav KK Performances
1 Jab We Met
2 Kurbaan
3 Udta Punjab
4 We Are Family
5 Gori Tere Pyaar Mein
6 Heroine

Kareena has truly made me so proud. I remember in early 2000s, everyone pretty much hated her, and it was sorta unusual to say your favorite actress is Kareena Kapoor. That's changed, and HOW

Overacting ki dukaan 😆😆
BW and fans are really forgiving where people give chances after chances to non actors and over actors.
👍🏼

Asoka and K3G, year 2001. Kareena debut in 2000. This is 2016. Cut her some slack. Those two films were her first year of bollywood. And I still think she was phenomenal.

Poo was supposed to be ridiculous and over the top. Her overacting helped in that case. Asoka was her third film, total.

U mean 16 years of torture.🤣

Kidding, on a serious note. Growing up, I was a huge Kareena fan. I might not be one anymore, but one of my fav character is Poo. I would talk, around and act like Poo when I was little driving my bro and mum crazy.I wanted th same clothes as her. I wanted Amisha to loose and her to win.😆

I loved her all movies growing up and have watched her for eons now. Congratulations to her. She is a good actress, but not a great offscreen personality though which made me turn of my switch as a fan.
