Backstage drama

The 7th Indian Telly Awards was a night to remember. The large audience witnessed some scintillating performances by the stars. As at every occasion, it's the behind the stage masala that always escapes the audience's eye.

Tellychakkar's very own Mayur Lookhar who witnessed all the backstage happenings brings you those not-to-be-missed moments
.

Ekta's Bhool Bhulaiiya! At the 7th Indian Telly Awards, Ekta Kapoor bagged the award for the best continuing serial (Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kahbi Bahu Thi). After receiving the award Ekta headed to give an interview back stage. After winding up her interview Ekta forgot to take her trophy. She's won many an award and perhaps she's lost count of them all. But this one was too special for her and she came back for it.

Deven a doting husband! Deven Bhojani won the best comic actor award for his character Gattu in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. On the dais, Deven confessed to preparing a victor's speech and it didn't take him long to read from the piece of paper. Post receiving the award he headed back stage for his interview. Unfortunately for Deven, he had to wait for some time. And an uneasy Deven requested to be excused as his wife was sitting alone. Now, that's what you call a doting husband.

Red Bull is the booster for Shaktimaan! Popeye derives his strength from Spinach; Stanley Ipkiss becomes invincible after wearing the Mask, Anger turns Dr. Bruce Banner into The Incredible Hulk. Ever wondered what keeps our desi super hero Shaktimaan (Mukesh Khanna) strong?

Well, here's the secret. Our Shaktimaan was spotted sipping on to a Red Bull (energy drink) backstage. If one had any doubts over the energizer's effect, one merely had to see the spirited performance by the actor while dancing to the title track of Om Shanti Om.

Akashdeep - the true showman? Akashdeep Sehgal has been in the news lately for his poor health. However, that didn't deter him from performing at the Telly Awards. Prior to his performance, the actor took his dose of medicine. Now that's what you call a true showman.

Quizmaster Basu puzzled by his award? Siddharth Basu is not known to hog much media space. For two decades, he's gone about his work without making much hue or cry about it. At the 7th Telly Awards, Siddharth and wife Anita won the Hall of Fame award. When congratulated by our team Siddharth gave a somewhat puzzling reply, "I don't know why I have been awarded." Mr. Basu will forever remain modest.

Restless Karan! From the time he arrived, Karan Oberoi was much clued on to girl friend Mona Singh's whereabouts. Mona was scheduled to perform in her Jassi avatar. When she was about to make her stage appearance, Karan, who was chatting backstage ran to take his seat to catch his loved one perform.

Special moments

Zee and Balaji's Kasamh Se bagged the trophy for the best actor in both the lead categories- Prachi Desai and Ram Kapoor.

Prachi looked like an angel in white and was thrilled on hearing the announcement. Her on-screen beau Ram Kapoor was shocked when his name was announced for the best actor category. "I thank Ekta and both my wives- on and off the screen," said Ram.

Not without my wife
Anita and Siddharth Basu received the Hall Of Fame Award. It was a truly poignant moment when Siddharth gave a special thanks to Anita and said, "It wouldn't have been possible for me to reach this stage without my wife."

Blow hot blow cold
Smriti Irani received many accolades for Virrudh. In her acceptance speech she said Virrudh was possible only because Ekta had released her from KSBKBT and thanked Ekta for the same.
And catching Ekta's eye she continued, "I would have been crying until now had Ekta not set me free. I'm really thankful to her and my Virrudh team. It feels good to get this award."

And when it was Ekta's turn to accept the award for the best production house- Balaji she in turn congratulated Smriti for Virrudh

Traffic jam
Despite staying stuck in a traffic jam for three hours, Ronnie Screwvala was determined to make it to the function. Though he was a bit weary with the time spent in the car he was elated on receiving the award for his contribution to the television industry

The conjoined twins
They made their first live performance at the telly awards. AmberDhara really rocked the crowd as they danced to the peppy 'Hum to aise hai bhaiya... 'It seems Ekta too enjoys the show because when she came to receive the award with her pal Tanu on stage she said, "Tanu and me are like AmberDhara. We are each other's strength,"

My childhood friend
Ronit seemed to be so happy after receiving the award for The Best Actor in Negative role. that he called his best pal on stage and introduced him to the audience by calling him his chaddi-buddy. His pal in return smothered him with a kiss on his cheek

Enjoyed every moment
J. D. Majethia whose Ba Bahu Aur Baby did well at the awards was a very happy man. He had came in early and stayed till the end.

Ruling TV since seven years
Kyunki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi got the award for the Best Continuing Show. The Virani family took centre stage with the golden statuette in hand. Their happy faces seem to tell us to continue watching for yet another seven years

Happy Threesome
Smriti, Peter Mukherjee and wife Indrani look pleased as punch. What with Smriti's show on their new channel it is a win-win situation for all
