Colors latest offering Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki recently saw a 10 years leap following which the characters of Soumya (Rubina Dilaik) and Surbhi (Roshini Sahota) were seen as grown-up girls who are as different as chalk and cheese.
While we are totally liking the way the show is coursing, what caught our attention was the leap promo which features Vivian Dsena, Rubina, Roshini and Reena Kapoor.
The promo starts with Reena Kapoor who essays the role of Nimmi the mother of the girls saying 10 years have passed and that she has been protecting her daughter Soumya all these years. The scene shows Nimmi applying Kala Teeka for Surbhi; but before she can do the same for her other daughter Soumya, we see Surbhi drag her sister along with her leaving behind a worried Nimmi who wonders what is held in store for her daughter in the coming days.
The scene shifts to a market place where we see Vivian Dsena's character Harman enter in full tashan on a bike. Harman collides with Soumya and we have the famous RK style pose as the former tries to catch the latter from falling. The viewers get a proper glimpse of the grown-up Soumya who is very beautiful and has a very dainty appeal about her. The duo share a small eye-lock and while Harman is smitten by Soumya's beauty and compliments the same, we see a terrified looking Soumya trying to grasp what just happened; while Surbhi looks on at Harman and Soumya who are still locked in an RK Pose.
While the promo does have it's own appeal and a rather filminess to it, what we loved about it the BG voice when introducing Harman Singh "Aane wala kal lekar aayega ek naya rakhshak". The first part of the promo shows Nimmi's perspective of always being there for her daughter to shield her from every evil and even her own family who tried to hurt her, while the second half introduces us to the new 'Savior' aka Harman.
While we have seen the RK Pose be used a 1000 times, and more for cinematic beauty that having actually any relevance, here we can say that it may have some significance, because the promo talks about a new Rakshak aka savior and right after it is mentioned we see Harman catch Soumya before she falls. It is not highly symbolic but it can't be ignored either because how much and how good a Rakshak, Harman will prove to be is definitely something we are looking forward to watching especially since we know that he is most likely to fall in love with her without knowing her true identity.
On the other hand since Colors has chosen such a bold subject and also replaced it's most popular Balika Vadhu with Shakti, we certainly hope that it is not another 'Mills and Boons' in the making where the girl remains a damsel in distress while the guy saves the day. Now that we have seen Soumya and know that she is anything but powerful or opinionated, what would make Shakti unique will be giving the viewers a strong protagonist with the passage of time especially with regard to her identity which forms the theme of the show.
