Part 3
Geet was awed by their vast garden with a tar matted path leading towards the outhouse, green grass surrounded both sides of the path giving the garden a clean elegant view. A wooden garden table was set with 4 sandy wooden folding chairs where Maan often spends his mornings simply enjoying nature.
As Geet stepped inside she was awed by the beauty, the living room with diner was beautiful, it wasn't over the top, minimal, simple yet so modern. The only colours used was white, cream and beige, the colour may sound bland but it worked here as the room didn't look anywhere close to be bland but was contemporary, aesthetic and modern. A few metres away, a small black yet transparent dining table fixated with 4 chairs.
"It's beautiful" she commented admiring the room. "I think I'd be spending all my time here" she chuckled.
"Well I'm glad you like it & I don't mind if you do" he smiled proudly, looks like his hard work paid off, before the wedding his mother had him redecorate the entire outhouse, and not having seen Geet or talking to her except the first meeting he didn't know what she liked or anything such, so he himself had spent time decorating simply hoping his new wife will approve but here Geet not only approved but she liked it.
"Shall we?" he waved towards the kitchen, Geet nodded and followed him to the kitchen.
The kitchen was another beautiful room to which she had no words to say, she was beyond speechless. This kitchen was drool worthy, the cabinets were white whereas the tiles on the wall were magnolia. There was a black kitchen Ireland fixated which gives more space and since there's only the both of them there was space that may not be even used. A metallic grey fridge aligned beside the cabinets, a 4 gas cooker with a breakfast bar at the end where if they wished they could have the food here. Geet noticed a door she looked back at Maan silently asking him.
"Open it" he told her.
Geet opened it a little, rays of sunshine radiated in within the small gap, she pulled the door open wider to be greeted with the most breath taking sight. This door led to a private garden, small flower beds brightening with green garden with their colours. She turned as Maan rested his hand on the small of her back.
"Come with me" he spoke having not noticing her sudden nervousness, she walked along though she was very much aware of his hand on her back, as she walked she began to relax and comfort herself mentally telling herself this was her husband. Maan opened the door to a glass covered room just joined to the outhouse, like an extended room that'd been recently built.
As they entered Geet came to know this was his gym.
"yours?" she asked
He nodded. "Now yours as well if you wish to use it. Though I doubt you'll need it" his gaze glided down not in a manner of lusting his wife but admiring her figure. She was fit, healthy and quite beautiful.
She smiled faintly with colour creeping to her cheeks, with that Maan realized he's embarrassing her. He cleared his throat. "Upstairs?"
She nodded, instead of walking outside, he crossed the gym as they passed Geet noticed a hot tub in the next room which was separated by clear glass. She followed as Maan opened the door and they were back into the living room. She was wowed by the way the house was, it was extended and joined which made it easier to move to and fro. Instead of going through the kitchen, into their garden then to the gym, Maan could just go through this door and go.
Like each room downstairs, upstairs was no different, the rooms were beautiful simple and elegant. She loved the 3 rooms, their bedroom, Maan's home office and a spare bedroom.
"Whats the spare bedroom for?" she asked as they made their way down.
"When we argue, I sleep there" he joked.
She shook her head at him. "Aap bhi na.." she chuckled.
"Spare bedroom is spare bedroom innit?"
She nodded.
"And anyways when the kid will be here it'll be a nursery" Maan spoke.
"Kid?" Geet frowned confused who was this kid now?
"Our kid Geet" he winked. "I mean hamara baccha toh ek na ek din hoga na?" he stopped mid stairs backing her against the railing smiling at her mischievously.
"Aap jitna shareef dikhte hai na aap hai nahi aur waise bhi Khuda ke marzi hai, baccha hoga ya nahi"
"In Sha Allah hume hoga, hamara apna nanha munna sa baccha." he responded and moved back offering his hand to her.
Geet slipped her hand into his and let him walk her down.
"Aap bacche pasand kar te haina?"
"Haan bohut. Simrah ke baad aur koi baccha nahi hai isi liye sab ki laadli hai woh"
Geet smiled. She knew then her husband has a soft gentle side to himself, the other sides were yet to be revealed.
"Who designed the house?" She asked remembering what she'd wanted to ask him all this time.
"Why?" Maan replied back with a question.
"So I can put a face to the designer. I mean I should know na who designed our house" she said. Maan's heart swelled with pride, his wife was accepting and adjusting slowly, from his house it'd become their house.
"Our?" he raised his brows with a smirk.
"um.." she looked away for a moment. "erm" she turned to face him. "Its ours na? We're married so it's ours" she answered back with as much confidence she could gather though her voice trembled. "And you stated our our' first"
Maan laughed throwing his head back hearing her, he looked at her as he laughed shaking his head.
Geet looked away, colour crept her cheeks so much she turned pink with her heating up as well. Maan stopped and saw she was too embarrassed and she didn't meet his gaze at all and he even noticed their hands which were linked for a moment was now separate.
"Bohut nervous ho?" he asked softly, he got to know one thing about his wife, it was she was nervous, too nervous and is so shy. Geet nodded looking down, her fingers entwined together playing with themselves.
"Here sit" Maan gestured to the sofa as they'd just stepped into the living room, he separated her hand slipping in his own and linked their fingers together leading her to the sofa.
They sat next to one another, Maan kept a hold on her hand and looked at her. He wondered what he could say to her to make her feel a little comfortable.
"Geet I know being in a houseful of strangers isn't easy for you but I don't want you to feel uncomfortable" he started. "If not everyone I can assure you I'm here if you need me at all. He spoke pressing his other hand to hers promising her. "I want you to accept my family just as your own".
She nodded. "I will"
"Its going to be difficult and I won't lie and say everyone will love you or care for you as your own did but from my side I will do my utmost best as your husband"
A glimmer of hope, happiness and confidence sparked within, she didn't need anything but her husband's support, he didn't need to do anything just as long as he is beside her that in itself is the biggest support to overcome the hurdles and problems she may face in the near future.
"Hellooo romance khatam hogaya toh hum aajaye?" Sameera chirped as she walked in happily with Anisa and Hena along with Nadiya.
"Why do you even bother asking? You've come already" Maan said moving away and settled in the corner as the others joined.
"Oh well" sameera shrugged, she plonked herself down on the opposite side looking from Maan then to Geet. "So bhabhi how did you like the house?"
"Its beautiful" Geet replied.
"huh? You find it beautiful? How one earth can you find this beautiful? Bhabhi there's no colour but white, cream and black? Hai Allah I think I'm going to have a heart attack" Sameera pressed her hand on her heart. "Choti ma ne bhai ke female copy le aaye hai"
"Stop being so over dramatic" Anisa whacked her while Maan glared at Sameera to which she rolled her eyes.
"Bhabhi don't mind her. Sameera aise hi hai" Anisa spoke.
"Janam se" Maan added.
"Bhai" Sameera whined.
Maan shrugged smiling at her.
"Bhabhi its colourless" Sameera said.
"Hello colour ki kya zarurat hai, bhabhi hi bohut colourful hai. Dekh hum sabse bhabhi hi zyada stand out kar rahe hai" Anisa stated.
Geet flushed chewing on her bottom lip.
"Khair.. will you lot please tell me what brought you here?" Maan asked guessing Geet had gotten embarrassed.
"Oh yeah.. Walima (Muslim reception)"
"Walima? What about it?"
"Choti ma has chosen quite a few Sarees for bhabhi but she wants to know which suit you'll be wearing so that she choose bhabhi's saree to match" Anisa stated.
"I'll be wearing the black one she'd bought with the maroon tie" he replied.
"Alrig." She gasped hearing the voice over for their mosque go off.
The Adhan (Pronounced -Azaan : Call to prayer) went off.
"Ab sab chalo Zuhr (Afternoon prayer) ka waqt bhi hogaya hai" Maan said standing up and headed up towards their room.
"Yeah you lots go" Sameera ordered.
"Aren't you praying?" Anisa asked standing to her feet.
"Can't. I've got my periods" she explained leaning back and stretched her legs smiling.
Anisa shook her head and headed out with Sameera.
"You know bhabhi us women we're much luckier than the men?"
"Kaise?" Geet asked as she stood to her feet.
"We've got 5 days off each month and we don't have to make up for the prayers we missed"
"Hmm and yet we still complain about reading these 5 prayers. You know back then the muslims had to pray 50 times. Just think we would've had to do that if our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) hadn't asked for us, and he didn't go back once, he went so many times and asked until Allah brought it down to 5" Geet explained to Sameera who nodded as she thought of it.
"Khair main namaz padhke aati hoon" Geet excused herself and went towards their new bedroom which Maan had showed her.
As she entered she saw Maan was already praying, she padded towards the bathroom to perform wudhu ( ablution).
Unpinning her pallu from her head she first made her intention.
Once she'd made her intention she performed her wudhu.
Wiping her face dry Geet fixed her hair, as she walked out of the room she picked her small side bag, unzipping it she picked out her scarf and pinned it properly covering her hair, assured she was covered properly, she looked around for a prayer mat unfortunately she hadn't found one, she sat on the bed and waited for Maan to be done. Maan just had finished, lifting his hands up he made his dua (verbal prayer), once done he looked at Geet.
Geet stood to her feet. "I.. I couldn't find the prayer mat" she muttered softly.
"Its in that drawer. You'll find another" he answered gesturing with his eyes then continued to recite duas beneath his breath.
Taking the prayer mat she aligned with Maan's facing in the same direction which is directing towards Makkah (Mecca) and started her prayer.
Maan stood to his feet once he'd finished, folding his prayer mat he walked behind Geet and placed it back in its place, also took his hat off and kept it back in its place. His thoughts went to Geet, he looked at her over his shoulder as she prayed, he simply looked at her for some time, he didn't know what to think of her as of yet but he simply hoped to fulfil his duties as her husband. He headed downstairs leaving Geet alone to pray so she could have her own privacy if she wished, as he reached the bottom he saw his mother entering into the house.
"Ammi aap?" he asked softly.
She smiled. "haan. Aap jante hai na aap Geet ke saat jaane wali hai unke mayke walima ke baad?"
"Ji" he nodded.
"Unke ghar walon ke liye kuch lena toh padhega hi"
"haan. Main khareed lunga" he assured her before she gets worried on what to buy and gift them.
She smiled. "Teek hai.. ab Geet ko leke ghar aiye sab hall mein hai" she headed out leaving Maan standing in the hall.
He turned to go up but stopped seeing Geet descending down, she'd taken her headscarf off and pinned back her pallu atop her head.
"Done?"
Geet nodded smiling softly.
"We're going back to the mansion. Everyone's gathered round"
She nodded and followed Maan alongside and proceeded back to their mansion.
