Bonjour my lovely people! What a week so far eh?!😆I don't think there could have been a worser week for me. So busy with work! Drained of energy by the time I come home. Then I watch 45 mins of landmark Indian television and feel like I need every healthcare professional available to sort me out😆I have been quite literally stumped for words. I thought I had seen the best Indian drama in history (clue is in my username😆) but I can safely say, the 14th June created historyNo ifs or buts, THIS WAS IT. If I was to provide a presentation on the perfect Indian TV episode this would be it. Phenomenal. Breathtaking. Soul touching. A romantic fairytale. Somebody send the other production houses this episode to convey howwriting, directing and touching the hearts of the viewed should be achieved. I was in Devakshi world for the next few hours so, it was that bloomin' brilliant. I feel jealous of what Devakshi have! I mean, they are goals! They want you to be in love! I want to have a Dex Dixit in my life! I cannot praise the writers, the directors, the actors and the whole crew enough for the magic that unfolded in front of our eyes.👏KRPKAB team - take a million bows! You have done something that I thought would not be possible on Indian television. You nailed it!
Now for the analysis. 😆The Dev-Ishwari talk stood out for
me for a few reasons. The first was the way Ishwari responded to Dev calling
off the engagement. For any other mother, pairo ke neeche se zameen khisk jaana
ki baat hoti. Instead she calmly says to Radha Rani that Dev would have made
this decision very carefully. It was as if she was searching for answers in his
eyes as to the possibility that it was down to his family and her that he
called it off. For me, Ishwari showed once again how important Dev is to her
simply through her expressions. Wonderful by Supriya ji! And Dev's answer to
her kyun about pyar and vyapar was the first of a thousand lies he will tell
his mother as his relationship with Sona begins. A pivotal moment in the
relationship between mother ans son.
Back at the Bose abode, my favourite Miss Bose continued to
clock watch in distress. But then there is the gem duo of a support system in
Elena and Saurabh who tried every silly trick in the book to cheer Sona up. One
of my parts of yesterday's episode was the writers showing Sona the
nutritionist binge eating on a combination of chocolate and crisps. Yuck! 😆Sona
reminded me of Sonam Kapoor in Aisha. Isn't this what girls do though when they
are are heartbroken? Turn to junk food? Hide away in their room? Such a cute
scene! She sits there stuffing herself, going for the crisps and chocolate in
turns. And the way Sona asks them to disappear in the most monotonous of tones
was hilarious! Love Erica for this! Also loved her for punching Saurabh on his
shoulder - she is such a delicate flower!
And this flower's khushboo permeated Dev's every cell, as he
stood in the mirror and called himself a santra! The best thing about the scene
was the use of the mirror again, and how the writers showed a Dev finally
imagining Sona. Just as Sona in love went through this phase of dreaming, it
was only right that we got to see Dev in such a state too 😊What I really liked
about it also, what that Dev asks her in his imagination, what's in her heart?
To him, she replies tumi ekdum impossible.'To me, it was him imagining
that Sona is taunting him once again in failing to realise that she likes him.
She goes on to describe how she feels sorry for him because he has fallen in love
with a girl who has never been in love
before. That she has built up so much love in her heart, that before she dies,
she wants to falls in love. And every word she has told him about her fairytale love is
remembered by him, as he imagines her repeating what she has always desired
when it comes to love. In this moment of dreaming, Dev knows that he will have
to do something that will be resemble a fairtyale for Sona. That he will have to
do something that will surpass her expectations. And as she brushed his shoulder,
he smiled. She caressed his shoulder once again and he touched it, feeling her
touch as if she is really there. What a contrast from pulling away Natasha's
hand on Monday before he told her he couldn't marry her! I knew then when he
took Natasha's arm off that he felt like he was cheatingon Sona for letting
another woman get close to him. That it was Sona's touch he most desired.😳
And he strolled downstairs looking for a speedy getaway but found everyone was sitting around depressed hath par hath rakh ke. They were down in the dumps but Dev was on cloud nine! And then there's this swagger
and new found confidence in love which causes him to almost bounce around the
house, ready to take on the world with Sona! And thaaliya aur seetiyan for Dev's
line 'nahi bahar vale ne banaya hai nahi tor sakta hai.' You can see the strength
he has found from realising he loves Sona, that he is able to now even answer
back to Radha Rani. And as much as I dislike Radha Rani, how much truth was
there in her words about 'koi shikajh nahi aye?'Stole the words right out of my
mouth! The way Ishwari looks up all nervy and exchanges glances with Dev, you
know that Radha Rani touched a nerve. Although she gives a fitting reply, underlying all her answer was her need to explain herself. Lovely, lovely writing and
acting there. In amongst the confession scene, kudos to the writers for weaving
in Ishwari's insecurities once again into the story. This is what I loved about
the episode. They never let go of the plot of the show. That whole
episode laid the foundation for the big story heading our way. Bravo!👏
Just as I thought Dev was about to head off, dhat teri,
Gujral ended up at the door. Knowing our Dev, he decided that it was necessary
to explain the situation. And you know Dev is pooping his pants when he offers
tea and coffee to Gujral because he is soo waiting to sit down for a cuppa! The
whole conversation was a learning experience for both Dev and Gujral. Both
messed up. You could relate to Gujral as a father to his only daughter, who was
looking forward to fulfilling his duties. You could also see Dev's regret. And I
wonder what the cost of breaking his daughter's heart will be? Would be
interesting to see if love will have its cons as well. Dev's shake of the head and
fist punch showed that he knows the deal is off. You win some, you lose some. It
all equals out in the end. This he won't regret though. It was good that
Ishwari stopped Gujral and gave one final apology as the mother. Something necessary
to close the chapter I think. But somewhere in her explanation, Ishwari fell
into thinking that Dev did what he did for his family - what a misconception!
For the first time, Dev did something risky for his selfish needs. And how
right was Neha in saying that she got her son back? But Ishwari despite all her
insecurities, has the perfect answer for everything. Bowing down to the writers
for the line on giving freedom to her children to make choices now that they've
grown up. Also liked how it shut Neha up
who needs to stop linking everything back to her issues and problems and
finding a reason to vent. One thing is for sure, Ishwari will most definitely
disapprove of Dev and Sona's relationship purely because it will shatter this
view she has formed of Dev. He is no longer her son only. He is now the lover
of another woman.
Confession scene
Camping out on the sofa having pigged out, Dev the doodwala
landed at the door. He couldn't help but smile at the sleepy ramblings. Then he
stated with his ramblings and it likes he's digested the guide on how to spout
classy and romantic words to your woman.' Mere saath chalo? Bharosa karti ho
mujhpe?'😳 And all that concerns her is she needs to change into something and
look good. 😆And how many times has he held her wrist at the door? Sigh. Sona's delicate
wrists and his hand on them are now a given. And how he just grabs onto her
wrist and you could hear the sound conveying that haq se strength of a guy is
magical. And he looks at her bending his head saying he can't wait no longer. Mesmerised,
she followed him. In the car, Dev is in a dreamy like state, smiling slightly
like he is in heaven. I loved this opening up of Dev to Sona. The cheeky talks
about her calling him Mr Aubhodro and then him turning a bit emotional on the inability to see colours but not feel them. Ladies, that is some deep talk
from a guy.😲 And what we got was a Dev talking about being the first to see
things, but not experiencing the moment by taking it in just a little longer.
Beautiful rainbow and sun examples Mr Rude. 😊And Sona's face become sad too. But
he senses that this is slightly sombre and with pride asked her if she's noticed
he's wearing the orange shirt. And she smiles again and asks him whether he is
ok because his bak bak is completely out of the blue! But she was also curious as
to whether he got engaged, hesitating so that she doesn't give away her heartache.
And he smiled, potentially knowing this question was coming? Or warming himself
up that it is off because he loves her? I don't know!
And what gave me joy was the fact that he remembered Sona's
suit colour and earrings the day after the batti scene. He noticed her then. He
was always noticing her. She was always extraordinary to him. That more special
than Miss Bose. Taking her to all his places of importance, how much more of a
message can a man be giving to a woman that he is in love with her by taking her on
his journey so far? By giving her the tiniest of details like how he looked
angry when he was born? How he distributed sugar on the birth of his sister but
was scolded by his mother? That was my most favourite part of his car journey. Such an emotional
childhood memory etched in his mind, leaving a mark on him and giving Sona a sense
of the hardships he suffered. Such private moments. How ironic he took her
through those same alleys where he once talked about marriage with Ishwari?
I loved how he ended that journey on the topic of losses.
Being a businessman, the man puts forward his desire to win and possess
something. Not deals this time related to money. But winning something related
to love. Her. He goes onto list how he has changed as a person - being happy,
saying sorry and learning to live without sleeping pills. What she has done to
better him as a person. The beauty of
this scene and build up was that he told her how she improves him as a person.
The very reasons he fell in love with her. Beauty came after. He edged closer to her and says he
wants to learn even more. And the way he says, you make me want to be a better
person, pauses and in his husky voice calls her Sonakshi... And so delirious he
is in this moment, he breaks out into a big smile and takes my breath away with 'naam bhi khoobsurt hai our aap bhi.' I just could not believe what I was
hearing. It was like the soul of every romantic literary figure or hero had
decided to take over Dev. Blushing, she looked down and smiled. At this point,
Sona knew that her dream was turning into a reality. Her love story was about
to be completed. And turning on the intensity levels, a no nonsense Dev Dixit
told Miss Sonakshi Bose that he loves her. And letting it sink in and then
double checking this isn't another friend zone message, she asked him whether he
loves her a friend? Dev Dixit goes down in history by saying one of the
classiest lines ever by a male lead - 'I love you as man loves a woman.' And as they stare into each other, Dev's chest
rising up and down in anticipation, you know you've just seen the most
beautiful love confessions EVER. Not even on Indian TV, just overall. Just to
relive that dream of hers again, she asks for a hug. A simple girl, with simple
desires. A hug will suffice. And boy was he glad to have her in his arms.
KRPKAB is in the
history books. Masterpiece.
