One week had passed. Manik and Nandini were still the same as were initially. They did talk, but occasionally and regarding only business matters. Apart from that, neither of them could recall when was the last time the 2 talked directly to each other concerning personal matters.
Tring! Tring!
Manik was getting ready for office when his mobile rang.
It displayed 'Ryan.'
"hello!"
"hi Manik, Ryan here. Hope you recognize."
Ryan spoke with nervousness glazing his voice and Manik could easily decipher that.
"yeah! Obviously dude!! Tell me now, is something urgent?" Manik talked coolly not making Ryan feel anymore nervous.
"no not really, Manik. Umm... Actually, Manik I wanted to meet you once. Today. And don't let anyone know about this, plzz. This is important."
Ryan sounded really nervous
"yeah sure Ryan. We can meet today. But is everything okay?" he asked out of genuine concern for his new friend.
"yeah! *chuckle* yup! Everything's good. It's just that there's something important on my mind that I want to talk about, that too with you only. Is it cool with you if we talk it over lunch?"
"yup man! Everything's cool with me. You don't need to explain. By the way, don't mind plzz, but... *chuckle* you actually sounded like as if you're asking me out! Hahhhaa!"
Both laughed.
"dude!!! Am straight!" Ryan shrieked still laughing.
"haan!! So even I am!! You have doubts?" Manik asked amusingly.
"buddy! I already have a girlfriend! Isn't that enough as a proof."
And Manik stiffened over this statement by Ryan.
No matter how much casual he may behave, it still hurts in his heart to accept that Nandini was with someone else.
"hellooo Manik! You there?"
He came out of his thoughts with Ryan's voice.
"huh! Haan! Yeah!!... Ok then buddy, I'll meet you in office in a while. Bye!"
And they hung up.

"Ryan!!! Are you ready?"
Nandini entered Ryan's room when she saw him standing in the middle of the room with his phone in his hand and lost in his thoughts.
"Ryan."
She called him again. Ryan turned to Nandini and kept staring at her. It seemed that he was still in his daze.
Not able to understand what particularly he was staring at she turned around to see if there was something behind her, but it was just thin air. Nothing else.
She swirled back to her position but to her dismay Ryan was still on the same spot with his eyes still gawking at her.
What is that he's thinking so deep! She thought and quietly went towards him without distracting him. She went near his ear and...
"Aaahhh"
She shrieked in his ears so loud that the next moment Ryan was lying on the ground because of the sudden shock he received and Nandini... Oh that naughty girl was laughing like there was no tomorrow.
"what the hell Nandini??!! What was that?" Ryan shouted but Nandini kept on laughing to his response.
"OMG!!! This was amazing! Oh god!! You were so much engrossed in ogling at me so I preferred this to be the best way to help you CONCENTRATE on your thoughts!!! But then your reaction!! Ohh man! This was too hilarious!" and she again started laughing and even Ryan chuckled this time.
"okay leave all this!!! There's something I need to tell you. Now!" Ryan said getting up and Nandini controlled her laughter.
"Nanz, I am going back to New York!"
Ryan spoke and the reply was no less than what he expected.
"WHAAAT?"
"Nanz, you sure you talking to me or the neighbors!" he said, while his eyes closed and hands covering his ears.
"what the hell?!!!! How can you go just like that!!!!" she shouted.
"oh god, Nanz!!!! Stop shouting first. And it's not my choice! I'm not going away from you willingly. It's your lovely godfather!! You know right, his hair are turning grey and with that his mind too! So what can I do if he's called me there??!!" he explained to her calmly and Nandini just hummed in response and hugged him tightly.
"and moreover I have full confidence on this tiny girl!! She will pull off all the work like no one else! Am i right or am i right??"
"yeah!"
After this the couple stood in silence hugging each other.
I'm sorry Nandini! Ryan thought to himself and on the other hand Nandini felt bad that her support system was going away from her.
"when are you leaving?" she asked him not breaking the hug yet but the answer was totally unexpected.
"tonight!" he said in a meek voice.
"what?? You idiot!! You're telling me now! How could you???!!!!"
And she started running after him constantly hitting him with cushions and this tom and jerry fight continued.

It's not always love that binds two people. Those two indivoduals need to have alot more in common than just loving each other!! And that's what make the bond grow stronger. That could be between anyone. Lovers, bestfriends, siblings, etc.'-'-'-
Am sorry guys for this short update but am sorry couldn't write anymore. I'll come back soon till then you guys keep guessing why Ryan was apologizing and why he wants to meet Manik secretly.
