Jodha Akbar is the better film. In every freaking department. No debate there IMO. From the soulful beautiful songs, to the amazing performances by each & every member of the cast, to the direction. Even the cinematography was stunning. Costumes were beautiful. Aish looked her best, & Hritik looked a million bucks. And HR/Aish's chemistry was divine in this film.

Maybe cinematography (more like VFX effects) is one department Bajirao can give competition to JA. Even then, I prefer JA's cinematography. But other than that, Bajirao was a bad film. It didn't do justice to its genre. The storyline was horrible. And Deepika's bad performance took away from the film. DeepVeer hardly had chemistry in this film for the eternal lovers they were supposed to be.

Answer to every question is JA. The only film where I liked Ash. JA is more epic too. Most of the Ash and HR scenes have been copied multiple times on TV. Same can't be said of BM.

For a person whose existence is in doubt in the case of Jodha, Hrithik and Ash portrayed a intense love story that crossed all barriers that you believe in.

BM is a real story, but because of Deepikas weakness IMO you do not get the intensity of the love story even though these two people existed and it is an actual historical fact.

Performances wise,HR and Ranveer were equal IMO. I am giving Ranveer a bit more in the preparation department because of what he had to do.
Costumes wise, I liked HR better. He was just so majestic and handsome and emperor like as Akbar even if the real Akbar was not supposedly.

PERFORMANCES?
DIRECTION?
MUSIC?
COSTUMES?
STORY?

OVERALL FILM?

All these metrics and also repeat watchability, chemistry, enduring movie wise, Jodha Akbar. It is just a beautiful movie while BM just has too many flaws for me to watch it over and over.

JA has got a classic status over the time. BM just released last year. In couple years, it would get the same status too.

I would not call one superior over other. But JA surely holds more strong ground coz of the story. BM is messed up in terms of characters. Even though Jodha wasn't Akbar's only wife or their love story so epic, Gowarikar conveyed it so well, their love story looked most convincing.

Whereas in BM, even though Bajirao - Mastani loved each other, they were married by Mastani's father and it was a political alliance, they came across as home-breakers. Conviction lacked big time.

PERFORMANCES? -- BM. RS & PC so nailed it. Better than HR - Aish.
DIRECTION? - Both
MUSIC? - JA
COSTUMES? - BM
STORY? - JA

OVERALL FILM? - JA coz of the consistent screen play & better story flow.

For me JA was a masterpiece easily.

Ashutosh is a better director than SLB when it comes indian epic historical films especially.

Performances was nothing OTT.

Musically AR Rahman's one of the best work in recent times.

Costumes were apt for the era.

Overall Hrithik's dialogue delivery and body work was more natural than Ranveer who was rather OTT

JA > BM

Neither appeal to me as good period films. Too much kitschy melodrama.

When it comes to music, JA wins for me. Overall, it's hard to pick.😔
