Supriya Palgaonkar on her new show on Sony TV.

Supriya Pilgaonkar is a regular face on television. Ranging from "Tu Tu Main Main" to "Radha Ki Betiyan Kuch Kar Dikhaengi", she has carved out her own niche on the small screen. Wife of noted actor Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya is also a household name in the Marathi film industry. She was in New Delhi recently to promote her new show on Sony Entertainment Television, "Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi".

She took a few questions from The Hindu.

Excerpts:

What is your role in the new show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi?

This is a romantic show, it is a new age love story, a realistic take on love that today's generation will resonate with. It is not a typical dramatic love story and I am playing the character of Ishwari, mother of the male lead Dev played by Shaheer Sheikh. Mine is a powerful character. After going through the script I found it very interesting and I said, yes. I hope the audience would love to watch it. I must tell that there is no negative character.

As you said, there is no negative character, how will it sustain the viewers' interest?

This is the thing that baffles me, negative characters bring sensation in a story. On the other hand, I think that the producers and the channel had taken a courageous step. Here I must tell that we have been given a story of only six-seven months and maybe the writers have something surprising in store.

You have also been a winner of a dance reality show. Are you going to tap your dancing skills for this show in the coming days?

My husband Sachin and I have won "Nach Baliye". It was very difficult for me as I am not a dancer. I had to learn dance and then perform and with very little time at our disposal, I had to work very hard and that has taken a toll on my knees and back. I still feel it. So, I can now dance only for promotions if required and that too for a minute or two.

You have been around for a long time on the small screen. How has the medium evolved over the years?

The television industry has gone through a drastic change in the last two decades. The biggest change is the money actors are getting today and that is why you see bigger faces of the film industry joining in. The other noticeable thing is the technological improvement. It has made things very easy. Earlier only good and genuine actors sustained but today an average actor can also hold on, thanks to technology.

Are you still actively involved with Marathi movies?

I never left Marathi films. Recently, I have been offered a Marathi film with a big banner and what I am told is that it is a good film and I have a pivotal role. It will start after three-four months and by the time my role in the show will be less time consuming.

here is ur answer.(marked in red)

I don't know, but maybe 6 months.
I would love for this show to go on for a while without losing the essence of the show.
I don't want the makers to turn this beautiful show into a Saas Bahu Saazish saga 🤢

The very thought of it ending soon. . Scares me
I am loving it to the core😳 I heard it is a finite series. . But that doesn't mean you rush things. . And end it quickly. Even when you can smoothly run with sanity for a long timeā¤ļø I hope this show runs long😭

Finite shows are always rich in content.. I would love it if KRPKAB fulfils the intended time period without losing its essence...

I rather it be a finite series with only a 6-8month plot line than a story that is dragged on and on! The thing with Hindi tv is that there are no seasons of just 12-13 episodes, there are just episodes 5 days a week and that takes a toll on the original plot and the actors as well. And I rather prefer a sharp and fresh ending than see saas-bahu drama after the crux of the story is finished. It's better not to waste amazing talent like that in my opinion!

I want them to keep it finite and good. It doesn't matter if it ends in 6 months, I don't want them to drag it. XD
