i know the serial is illogical since crap has to be senseless..but still just wanted to let you know about the workings of Divorce Law..so here it goes
Divorce is never AUTOMATIC..You and Your spouse can live separately for years but you cannot legally move on with your lives until you bring the court in on the process by filing a PETITION or COMPLAINT for DIVORCE.However, doing so after a lengthy separation can STREAMLINE and SIMPLIFY the process..so for all intents and purposes Raman and Ishita are married.. Googled it so thought of sharing ..

the article does not specify the time frame..but the writers twist the law according to their convenience...maybe the twist is -they have to stay together before divorce is granted.. if someone from the forum studying law can clarify it..

There is a law of divorce that if your spouse is missing and never reported to be found alive for 7 long years, you can file a petition for divorce.
But if spouses are away for even 7+ years and never reported to be alive; doesn't means that divorce is done automatically. You need to file a petition.

In YHM case Raman was liable to file petition before Ishita returned (if he would have done that before he would have got divorce); if he didn't did it then that means their marriage still exists. For Ishita, she wasn't even liable to file divorce because for her Raman was existing somewhere in this world while for Raman and others she was already dead (so from Raman's end petition was possible).

CVs are just using 7 years law. They are skipping the petition part.
