I feel this kid has enormous potential, the basic ingredients of singing which makes a song so beautiful are harkatein, murkhiyan etc.. which are imbibed in only few people.. This kid has a treasure of those. Though he doesn't have the "in your face" attitude and personality, he is confident enough to perform on the stage. Not everyone has the x-factor. But everyone gets a makeover. Top singers like sonu also don't always dance while performing, so why is it that this kid is getting so many negative remarks everytime. Either he is "kansura" or "less of expression" according to Sureshji but he contradicts himself when he says that less expression is ok for him sometimes.

He is a far better singer than Rohanpreet who gets "A+" so easily may be because they want to bank him on punjab votes later on 😕. Since 3 kids are from Delhi may be that is the reason why this kind of attitude towards Sayon. 😡. I hope someone shares the same feelings as me and voices out their opinion.

Sorry for the long post but I feel this guy might get eliminted because of the double stance by the judges.😭

Sayon has good "tayyari" in the voice that comes from training in classical music and he already showed us with the thumri that he sang a few lines of (ka karoon sajni), that he has amazing flexibility in the voice which is required to produce the traditional harkats in classical singing. But, in this competition the kids are expected to sing all kinds of songs. For example, the rock songs can't be sung with harkats, for those songs one has to be in perfect sur and sing with a lot of energy and expression. Sometimes having too much harkat in the voice can also get in the way.
I think both Sonu and Mr. Wadkar know Sayon's potential and want him to get comfortable with all genre of songs.
I also hope that Sayon stays in the competition, I think he will come into his element with time.
I do feel that Mr. Wadkar seems to have a soft corner for Rohanpreet and I also feel that Sayon sang better than him last week.

Agreed that Sayon has potential but he needs to improve on his sur..Even in the thumri he sang, he swayed from the sur..In singing, I feel the most essential thing is to be in sur; whatever harquaten/murkiyaan one does should be in sur..Many kids do plain singing but they sing in sur..Some kids do harquaten but in the process miss the surs..To do harquaten, in sur, one needs to have lot of riyaz..That is why one should always be cautious and calculative, about how much harquaten one can manage..I think Sayon needs some guidance regarding this aspect..

I too don't understand the judges' weakness towards Rohanpreet. I didn't find him singing different genres. Most of his songs were Punjabi type. The last one in the Rocknroll round was different, but I felt I heard a Punjabi accent. I wouldn't term him as versatile.

Sayan is a singer material but he is not a competition material. I see a fighter in most of the kids on show but i feel he is not having the spirit in him. Sooner or later he is going to be eliminated.

Amritavarshini and lifeztuf. Thanks so much for the responses , but Sayon is not a besura singer.. he keeps swaying "thoda kam zyada..", so if the judges have someone pay attention to him for the rehearsals, I am sure he will come out in flying colors. Whereas Rohanpreet sounds katcha and nasal. He is an ok singer and definitely does not deserve all those A+s, when the judges analyze so much into others singing like Anamika,Rohit, Loria etc.. why do forget about everything when it is Rohan's turn.
I think its also matter of luck why some contestants enjoy a special place in the judges mind and some get ignored.

Rohanpreet mostly sung Punjabi songs throughout . So nasal might not have been an issue with the judges. When he starts singing non-punjabi repertoire , the judges will be in a better position to evaluate him. Looking at how Anamika and some others got A, Rohanpreet's A+ seems funny.

How strict and authentic Sonu looks, he also get swayed away sometimes, he has a soft corner for Vaishali, Vibhore and Rohanpreet from day one. Vibhore is a good singer but inconsistent whereas Anamika, Rohit, Loria are pukka singers.
Can't comment on Smitha because her singing seems so artificial, looks like she really learnt all the mannerisms from prior Saregamapas on how to react when judges comment and and the way she tries to grab attention reminds me of Mauli, Twinkle etc.. 😛

I was very disappointed to see Sayon eliminated last week and then found it
ironic that in the very next episode Asha Bhosle comes in and encourages
children to be strong classical singers first. Of course Sayon like all of the
younger contestants has lots of room for improvement. However it is my
opinion that the format of SRGMP now discourages that kind of foundation.
In C2005, they has no classical round and in C2007, it was towards the end.
During the glorious Sonu Nigam SRGM days, they had these great sections
like classical, regional, folk, non-filmi, ghazal, etc... Someone should start a
topic on this.
