PART 12
Recap: Sanyukta is pregnant. Sandhir tell kausggy about it. Jiggy suggests an anomaly check.
"...Sanyukta... sanyu daro mat...kuch nahi hua hoga okay?? Woh...woh doc ne tumhari test results ke liye bulaya hoga...ha!!" Randhir said, trying to console a panicked sanyukta. They had been workimg in the office when he got a call from the doctor, asking them to meet asap.
"Ran...randhut...jhut mat bolo...agar esa hota toh woh hamein itni urgently kyu bulati?? Aur woh bhi itna darke...
Nhi randhir...kuch hua hain mere babies ko...par...esa...uffo randhir yeh driver kab aayega!!"she nearly wailed. Fortunately he arrived just then and they set off.
FLASHBACK
FEW DAYS AGO, HOSPITAL. ...
"...Haan sanyukta. Mainr infact aaj tumhe isiliye bulaya tha. Maine socha tumhara 5th month shuru hone wala he, toh ek hi saath check up bhi lar lenge aur test bhi. Aur ab tumne hi suggest kar diya toh accchi baat hain!!" She smiled at sandhir. "Haan doc...woh actually hamare ek frnd ne hame bataya ku 5 months me ye test kar le toh accha hain...taaki agar kuch complications ho toh use sudhaar sake..." Randhir replied. "Very well" doctor said. "Lets check her up now?? Come sanyukta..."
She took them to the sonography machine. Sanyukta lay down on the examining table and, as usual, randhir
Gripped her hand. Doctor switched on the machine and a small, grainy image flashed on it. Sandhir smiled.
"Haan toh sanyukta...tumharr test ki reports tumhe kuch dinn me mil jayengi. Ab philhaal toh tum rest karo, your kids are tired!!" she winked and sandhir set off for home.
END OF FLASHBACK
Within 15 minutes, sandhir had reached the hospital. Anxiously, they made their way towards the doctor's cabin.
"Come sanyukta...randhir...have a seat" she said, looking up from the reports. Randhir carefully made sanyukta sit down and sat beside her. She grasped his hand tightly.
"Doctor...aapne hame ese achanak...koi problem hain kya? Babies toh thik hain??" Randhir asked, scared.
"Haan...maine tum dono ko isiliyeh hi bulaya tha. Sanyukta ki test reports
Aa gayi hain. Doni twins ki development toh thik hi hain...sirf ek problem hain" she said. Sanyukta's blood ran cold. She looked at randhir who was staring at the doc with a pale face. "K...kya problem hain doc?? Bacche thik toh he?"
"Listen sanyukta...twins ki development ho rahi hain. Lekin problem ye hain k they are conjoined at the hand. Matlab dono hand ke part se jude hue hain. Look at this picture. It looks just as though they are holding hands...see" she said, showing them the report. "Just like the two of you are holding hands right now" she pointed.
"Lekin doctor...koi toh solution hoga inhe separate karne ka?? They cant go through their lives joined together, can they??" Randhir asked.
"Ofc mr shekhawat...solution toh hain.
Hain. Lekin yeh case thoda different hain. Aapke twins me se ek bacche ka heart weak hain, it is not developing properly. Use apna aadhi blood supply doosre twin se mil rahi hain. At this stage toh chodo we cant even think about separating them before birth so that the heart develops...we have to wait. Agar uska heart delivery tak develop hua toh ham unhe separate kar sakte hain. If not, ya toh hame unhe waise hi rehne dena hoga or..." she hesitated. "Or what???" Randhur demanded. "Or we might lose one twin. Lekin uske chances kaafi kam hain. Mostly ese cases me heart 7-8 months tak develop ho jata hain. Toh aap tensuon mat lijiye. Bas mommy ko khush rakhna. Sanyukta, tumhe ab tumhara pura dhyan rakhna hain...ni stress, no tension. Okay? Tum khush rahogi toh babies bhi khush honge and they will develop. Okay??" Randhir nodded. "Dont worry doc...main uska
Poora dhyan rakhunga." He said. "Thats what I expected mr shekhawat. Thik hain, ab aap inge le jaa sakte hain. Next month imhe le ana n bichme zarurat pade toh just call, okay?" She said and smiled at sanyukta to make her smile too. "Okay doctor...thank you." Randhir said and got up. He held an extremely pale sanyukta by her hand and dragged her out. Silently, they both came out of the hospital. He called for the driver. "Take us home" he said and settled her at the back.
