The hours, they bring me pain.
He had heard her voice after three months, blaring through his mother's phone which was left on speaker on the kitchen counter. She was blandly speaking of few ingredients of a recipe that his mother was probably trying out.
His steps refused to budge at hearing her ask his mother about his well-being to which she was asked the question of weather she had talked to him. He heard her ambiguous reply at concealing the differences that had risen between them before abruptly hanging up the phone. He saw his mother stare at the phone for a minute before busying herself back into the cooking.
He looked at the phone in his hand that had been buzzing everyday since he had arrived to the family home in London. Her voice sounded fake and filled with bubblegum excitement. There was a tinge of sadness in it and it made him wonder if he had made a correct decision. He turned on his heels and walked out the door to drive back to the office.
I was her love, she was my queen, And now a thousand years between.
Thinking how it used to be, Does she still remember times like these?
To think of us again? And I do.
He pulled the car into drive before screeching the car onto the road. He didn't realize it but he missed her more then before now. For some reason he felt deeply responsible for the hollowness in her voice. The stabbing pain in his chest spread all over his body as he pushed his feet to accelerate.
He missed how her eyes would automatically just light up every time she looked at him and her smile brought so much radiance to which ever room she was in. The clouds outside looked as if they were ready burst once more. The musky scene of earth travelled up his nose and reminded him of the one time he had splattered water all over from the garden hose. Nostalgia filled him in as he remembered her face when she had been forced out of the house by his mother.
The sadness in her eyes haunted him till this day. Her tears, wondering how many times she would've cried into her pillow after him leaving, made him ache unexpectedly. He gripped onto the steering more tightly then before to allow his breathe to regulate and ease off the pain. She was his everything. He saw the moments between them, of love and laughter flicker across the windshield momentarily until the clouds finally let go of the baggage on them and the skies cried along with his heart.
She was his everything even today. He only wished that her heart truly belonged to him just as he had hopelessly given into her.
