Televisionpoint.com Team Sony Entertainment Television is seeing a good run in the 8.00 PM to 9.00 PM band with programmes like Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai, Fame Gurukul and movies like Mughal E Azam, which all have delivered, thereby increasing the overall primetime share. Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai produced by Balaji Telefilms has increased its rating to 3.15, from the earlier of below 3.00, the reality show Fame Gurukul has picked a strong pulse delivering a whooping TVR of 4.62 for the Sept. 29 episode, the Gala round aired on Sept. 30 is rated at 4.57. SET which has premiered the legendary Mughal E Azam movie on Sunday, Sept. 25 was the highest rated asset on the channel with a TVR of 4.89, in the 9 Cities, MF 4+, C&S TAM Media Ratings. The TAM Media Research also shows that for the C&S 4+ in the Hindi speaking markets, the Mughal E Azam movie has delivered a TVR of 5.45 and that the channel share has increased from 12-14 per cent to present 15-17 per cent. Tarun Katyal, Business Head and Executive Vice-president, SET India, said, "We were expecting the same kind results. Kkusum, CID, Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai, Fame Gurukul and Mughal E Azam have proven the efficiency of Sony to break the myths, that we cannot be No. 1. The latest ratings are very satisfying and consistent with Sony's upward trend in a category where viewer resilience to a change in channel is high." MR Katial also informs that the next challenge for Sony is to bet big in the 9-10 PM time slot, he says the channel has heavy plans for this time band and Indian Idol 2, which is coming on air very soon will definitely increase the share further. Recently, a report has said that Sony promises to deliver a superstar every year. "We have been part of our winners and finalists journey post-success. We plan to offer the same platform for the winners of Fame Gurukul and Fear Factor once complete," says Katyal. Sony will also introduce a show, which will cast Narayani Shastri, Sameer Kochar, Payal Rohatagi, Bhairavi Goswami and Aly Khan as participants, apart from popular soap queens, Nausheen Ali Sardar and Tasneem Sheikh. Comparatively, Mum Tum aur Hum has not worked for Star Plus in the 8 - 8:30 PM slot, the game show has managed a deliberate TRP of 2.61, 2.59 for the episodes aired on Sept. 29 and Sept. 26 respectively. Insiders reveal to Televisionpoint.com, Star Plus is planning a heavy budget show in the 8-8:30 PM slot, for which a final draft is to be made ready and that Mum Tum aur Hum is just a replace for that yet to be named show. |
