Expectant Prantik Sur is waiting for big things
"Grounding in classical music is a must. I've trained in classical music for 15 years," he says. On his by-now trademark cap, Prantik dons feathers like – winner of ETV Bangla's Sa Theke Sa, finalist in Tara Bangla's Eto Noi Sudhu Gaan, and among the top 7 in Zee Bangla's Sa Re Ga Ma.
His next few months look promising. Two songs sung for Ravindra Jain are expecting release shortly. Big Music is doing an album comprising the 'Bemisal Barah' (the top 12 in Voice of India). Also, Star Plus is planning music tours with the top contestants.
Is there a skewed weightage on on-stage histrionics in these TV contests that overshadow core talent? "Showmanship, stage presence are important along with core singing talent. Even top playback singers 'act' along for best impact," he shares.
Do these TV contests bestow too much too soon? "Well, these contests provide the welcome platform. On the flip side there is harsh scrutiny too. But one needs to keep the feet on the ground always," says Prantik his body language confidently relaxed.
