Chapter 5

In Sid's office,

Sid was flipping through the files without any interest when suddenly his phone rang. It was his dad.

"Hi dad" Sid said enthusiastically.

"Hello beta. Seems so happy" he said.

"Nothing of that sort dad. So why have you called suddenly. Everything fine?" he asked diverting his dad.

"Yes. We have to represent our company in a meeting at London. Since doctor advised me not to travel, I want you to go. I have mailed the tickets, the flight is today night. Go safe and do well." he said and hung up.

Sid can't deny his dad so he accepted to it.

He went to his home and started to pack his bags and was about to leave when Roshini arrived from her school.

"Are you leaving the home?" she asked puzzled

"Not so soon baby. I'm going out for work. Will be back in 2 days. " he said and pecked on her cheek. Roshini stood still on his action. Sid clicked his fingers in front of her and she looked at him angrily.

"Miss me" He said winking at her and left.

"Thank god , he left. Atleast for 2 days I can be free " she said going to her room.

The 2 days passed like a wind. Neither of them missed each other and was leading their life normally.

Sid was about to come early morning the next day. Roshini came from her school that night because of work and changed to her night clothes and slept .

Around 2 am the power went off. It started to sweat. She dizzily opened her eyes and murmured "Ah.. Power goes off frequently in this place".

She got up from bed and took her phone to turn on the torchlight but it was switched off because the battery drained. She sighed and went to kitchen to take the candle when she saw a shadow near the kitchen window . Fear surrounded her.

"Who is it there?" she asked moving near the kitchen window when that shadow moved by. Thankfully she had locked the door yesterday.

She took the candle when she heard foot steps. She couldn't find the match box and her hands started to tremble. She slowly walked towards the hallway shouting "Who is it? Come in front of me.." . Tears welled up and she ran to the kitchen , searched for the matchbox and she found it finally. She lit the candle and walked again to the hall when she heard the door opening. She was praying desperately to god to save her. It was Sid who came inside. She forgot everything. Dropped the candles on the floor and went and hugged him tightly crying. Sid was too shocked to see her this way. He hugged back pacifying her.

"Thank god it's you" she murmured hugging him.

"Relax .. why are you crying?" he said still hugging her. Roshini didn't let him go. She hugged and let all her fear and tears roll out.

Sid waited for her to relax. After few minutes, Roshini realized her action and moved away from him.

"Are you alright?" he asked her and she nodded.

"May I know what happened?" he asked her and she narrated the incident.

"It was me. I searched for the key and I didn't find it. So I walked to your room window and saw you going to kitchen and followed there. Finally I found my key, so I unlocked myself and came here" he said.

Roshini let out a hugh sigh "You scared me to death Karan. you should have atleast told it was you" she said angrily.

"Okay Sorry. Can I go now. I'm so tired and sleepy" he said

Sid rested on his bed and recalled the incidents few hours ago. Sid came near his home when he saw someone walking around. He tried calling Roshini's number but it was switched off. He came near slowly and noticed a silhouette of a man holding something . Sid knew he too noticed him. In order to escape he pretended to talk to police in phone.

"Yes sir, Please come here now." Hearing him talking the man jumped off and ran away. Sid thought it's better not to tell Roshini. Little did he know that she was trembling inside. He thought to tell her the truth. But the fear with which she hugged him, he came to know she is new to this "living alone" stuff. So he made up a story and pacified her. Recalling the incident Sid went to sleep.

The next day was Saturday. Roshini woke up around 7am and thought to make some breakfast for both Sid and her. She thought what would have happened if it was not Sid. She went to his room and saw him sleeping peacefully.

Roshini is new to kitchen works. She has never been to kitchen in her home. She thought to see online recipe for bread omlet and searched the fridge. Luckily there was 2 eggs and bread packet available. She put the pan on the Induction and roasted the bread(making it burn to the core). Sid woke up from the smell of burnt bread. He thought some fire accident took place and ran to kitchen when he noticed Roshini doing bread omlet.

She looked at him and said "Good Morning karan. I'm doing breakfast for us. You freshen up and join me". Sid couldn't tell her the truth. He just nodded and went.

After few minutes he joined her. She served him first. He took the first bite of the bread and it was worse than he expected. Roshini was looking at his face waiting for feedback. He smiled at her with a IT IS VERY DELICIOUS expression and glupped the bread.

"Is this your first time?" he asked her.

"Yes. How come you found out?" she asked him.

("Anyone could have guessed it" he thought in mind) "You did great for your first time" he said and eat all the bread slices.

"You didn't spare me even a bit of my try" she said angrily and went inside the kitchen. Sid rushed to the bathroom.

In kitchen , Roshini found one slice of bread omlet still left over. She ate it and immediately spit it out. She wondered how he ate that thing.

"So I can make lunch for us" Roshini said when Sid came back.

Sid immediately shouted "NO"

"Why? you said I did good" she said looking innocently.

"Yeah it was good but don't strain yourself too much. "

"I know my breakfast was bad" she said looking down.

Sid doesn't know how to tackle her. "Okay now your turn over. I will cook for lunch" he said

"you know to cook?!" she asked shocking.

"I hope better than you " he said smirking at her "Okay I will give you a list. Buy it from the market" he said and started writing. "Do you know how to buy Stuff ?" he asked her and Roshini nodded her head lightly. "Leave it. I will also accompany you. I will teach you so that next time you can do it yourself" he said and looked at her. She smiled happily like a kid.
