When I had made the post during Tadaka vadha I had highlighted the aspect why Ram killed a woman. Why he was forced to do it. Today once again we are going to touch that topic, albeit a little different way.
Because Tadaka was an outsider. But today Shatrughna dealt with his step mother and her elderly dasi.
We see a complete lack of respect from him in dealing with these 2 women. A noble young man behaves rashly rudely. He chases a elderly woman and he is willing to raise his sword against his step mother.
In many families women like Kaikeyi and Manthara get away with the tag of being mother, being elderly after doing all the damage. You just need to watch some hindi TV soaps to see this phenomenon. Inside the family these so called elderly woman can do any rubbish, destroy other's dreams for their power hunger, use emotional blackmail and they are to be respected.

Look at the dialogue Kaikeyi uses Raghukul hi maryada doesnt allow you to behave such way to a woman. It is not right. And what Shatrughna says you have lost the right to talk about dharma adharma . That was a very powerful statement. One who does adharma does not have the right to stop another in the name of so called sanskaar. And the one neednt listen to it also, the way Shatrughnan was today.

If it is a woman or a man if they do adharma whether inside family or outside family they have to punished. We need to know that Lord decided to take care of the outside world while he left his brothers to cleanse the inside. That's how a family should function. Duties has to be shared for that you need to have same values. Unfortunately that is what a family today lacks. No common value system which the Ayodhya brothers and Mithila sisters had.

And last line of Shatrughna I was like doob maro Kaikeyi " aapka ram, mera bharat". I will forget you are bharat bhaiyya's mother.

Wonderful post Shruti!
Just read your other post in the loops and symbolism .

True that Shatrughan was perfect today .
Agree with what you have mentioned as to people in the path path of adharma have to be corrected without exception to gender etc.

When we do attach the strings of karma to the souls which are beyond these biases then the correction or check of adharma too needs to be done without biases of gender stautus. Etc .

Screenplay for Shatrughan though was strong and bold was very necessary too !

Loved the performance of the actor and the episode too .

( as you did mention , many soaps which ignore this stand of punishing the wrong doer in the families when it is the elderly women etc is quite unacceptable and sets a very wrong tone to the society too )

@vipraja I have been to another forum where I have seen people justifying the MIL's behaviour and even telling in a family that is how things should work. It shows the extend at which the media has manipulated the minds of people telling good means dont even raise voice to defend yourself. Suffer. Good means take any rubbish and you are not allowed to raise any question to elders.
When I watch SKR I am very happy to tell that screenplay has ensured such notions are overrided and when the voice can be raised clearly shown irrespective of the gender.

BEAUTIFUL POST👏...what an apt reply by shatrughan nd the powerful acting...
my mom alwas tells me that respect has to be earned for respect to be given...that is if you want your peers / colleagues to respect you, you need to respect them back, through your words and actions. that is respect has to be earned. you don't inherit it.
same for keikei, she thinks shatrughan should respect her because of her marital position in this house...he gives her a KNOCK KNOCK ! thgh I m nt so sure abt the sword raising part, but can understand that he feels directionless and aimless with the loss of his father and elder brother in one go...and could hv been a moment of weakness ...
the crowd stoning of Manthara is found in Kritibas Ojha's Ramayana isn't it...???...

I agree with you Shruthi. Bad deeds should be punished irrespective of gender .No one whether it is a a man or a woman ,has the right to harm others either with words or deeds. But I am also against shoving or using any form of physical force to drive out the evil. Physical force is acceptable only if it is used as a means of self defence. Ram never used his strength and power without thought. If it was utilized then it was utilized for the greater good of the mankind. Shatrugan 's convo with Kaikeyi was bang on. It was needed to wake her good sense. Hope this skr team retains its excellent screenplay. Except for Mahabharat this is the only serial which has managed to hold my attention for so long, for its great overall presentation of a much beloved story.

Beautiful post Shruthi. Loved the dialogues yesterday. All were spot on.
Our epics and culture have already given us the way of life. We just have to understand them to know the right path.We are taught at home n at schools that we should respect our parents, teachers, elders and women. But we don't how to respond in the right manner when our elders do something harmful. It starts from home. Whatever wrongdoings are done by the elders in the family everyone keeps a blind eye towards them by misinterpreting our sanskar. We try to follow this masala sanskar shown in daily soaps which doesn't have even an ounce of reality. When we start keeping a blind eye at home how are you expected to react to the wrongdoings in the society. We are expecting someone to come forward take up the mantle to be the torchbearer for the society. But we already have someone who have shown us the path already. We just have to understand the epics in the right way. Our leaders were the ones who followed this path. If we start acting against injustice at home we will start voicing against injustice in our society.Or else the farmers who have taken mere thousands as loan from banks will continue to end up committing suicides where as billionaires who take billions as loan will again freely roam around. Judiciary will again allow celebrities to go free where as a common man will end up in jail for the same crime.

Well said shruti 👍🏼. I always get angry when I see that in Indian daily sops they never punish a bujurg woman for her wrong doing. That's disgusting . They should learn something from SKR.

Some one aptly pointed here ...shatrughna lost his father, his big brothers have been wronged ... He is seeing Bharath so helpless and broken...what else is he supposed to do...
Why was dragging Manthara,

That's simply because his words too would not effect that lady in any way...would she have left if he would have just shouted at her and asked her to leave?..

About raising the sword... Here we need to understand his situation...like I mentioned he had lost his father and his brothers were wronged being the youngest what is he supposed to do? He is seeing his family broken because of two ladies... Manthara... Whom he literally kick's out and the other is his step mom who is the reason for this devastation...

Being the youngest and no brother to guide him for now..his reaction was understandable... Why should he hold back...it was apt for what they did to destroy the family...

Great post Shruthi

@jayashree, savitha sometimes brutality is needed at physical level to drive that fear. We think evil listen to our words, our mild admonishing to be frank it never happens.
And I agree to Anu Shatrughnan was in an emotionally derailed situation as much as Lakshman that day.
He took the decision and we need to see that even then he is not touching Kaikeyi leaving her to his brother. He is only touching the root cause. There is one particular dialogue of his. It is raghukul maryada even a dasi is treated mother, but then this woman has lost that right.
Yes evil need to realize the way they lost the right.

@geena yes that's why we have misplaced human rights which talks for the criminal and not for the victim. We have learned to give justification for the evil. It starts from home. Good always get second hand treatment. I always say if someone hits you with adharma, use below the belt to defend yourself. Adharma for defense against adharma attack approved by Lord himself and he protects you.
