This is a total mess and everywhere but I needed to write something and this was the best I could come up with.
There had always been one day of the year where Twinkle Taneja would wake up early before the sunrise and everybody knew that Twinkle waking up early meant that there was going to be trouble brewing. However, one person was oblivious to the fact and was on his way to become the next victim.
Twinkle felt her hurt strain with the fluttering in her stomach and sat up rubbing her eyes. She turned to look at the alarm clock at the nightside and was almost about to drop herself back on bed but stiffened as she realized what day it was. She shot a mischievous glance at her husband who was fast asleep and slipped out from the bed. Picking up her dupatta from the side the couch, she slipped out of the room to find the colors that had been brought in to play Holi.
Kunj felt the weight of Twinkle shift away from him but instead of speculating, he let himself fall in a deeper slumber remaining oblivious to the plans brewing in his wife's mind. Little did he know that a rangoli was about to be made on his face. Twinkle silently knelt down beside his side of bed and gently rubbed the rainbow of colors on his face. A smile formed on his face as her fingers caressed his face making her almost snicker.
Kunj stormed down in anger. It took him twice the usual time to wash his face and even then the color wouldn't come off properly making him appear yellowish-green with red spots here and there.
"Knuj. Tumhare chehre ko kiya hua hai?" Usha asked as he walked towards the kitchen.
"Rangoli ka canvas bana hua hai." he gritted. "Twinkle kahan hai? Usse tou main ne chorna nahi hai aaj. Sarre badle loon ga!"
"Puttar, woh tou nashta karte hi apni Ma ke ghar chali gai thi. Hum sab ko bhi tou Leela ji ne bulaya hai. Hum bhi nikal hi rahein hain." Bebe spoke, silently chuckling along with Usha.
Kunj stared at the ladies angrily before stomping off towards the door. He had only stepped in, past the doors that he stood shocked. Twinkle was up in someone's arms going round while squealing. The man dropped her back to the ground and proceeded to hug Chinky while Twinkle gathered up fistful of color and threw it on the man's face before running away.
"Arre Kunj puttar. Tu yahan khara hai? Andar aa." Mama ji yelled over the crowd walking towards Kunj. "Arre yeh kiya. Chal koi nahi, Har saal Twinkle ka nishana Pinni aur Bubbly bante the. Iss bar tu sahi."
He escorted him in before excusing himself after finding the snacks table finally set up.
"AHHH!!!! Chinky distract kar!" Twinkle screamed as she crashed into Kunj and felt her heart stop for a moment. There wasn't any color on her yet besides her hands that were covered in red.
"Kunj." she whispered.
"Tu abhi kis ke godh mein thi?" he inquired, taking her along with him to the corner.
"Woh..oh.", she stammered before realizing what he was talking about and composed herself. "Arre who to Abhi hai! Mer or Chinky ka bachpan ka dost. Delhi shift ho gaya that last year parhai ke leye. Holi pe aya hai pair wraps chilla jaye ga." she grinned, turning around and collecting more colors in her hand.
He felt the tension dissolve as he looked at Abhi running after Chinky now. He looked at her, and remembering his face in mirror from morning, splashed a bunch of yellow and red all over her face.
"KUNJ!"
"Kya Kunj? Hain? Mere muin ka kya hashar kiya tu ne!?" He argued as she jumped back from him.
"Haan tou!" she replied frustratingly.
"Haan tou kiya! Aik tou tu ne mere soothe hui mujh be rangoli bana di uper se jab tujhe doondha tou tu kisi aur ke godh mein chari hui thi!!" His voice escalated as he folded his arms over his chest.
Twinkle stared at him for a while before bursting into laughter. "Jal rahe ho? Kunj Sarna, biwi hoon tumhari. Haq jamana hai tou rang laga ke dekhao!" Twinkle squealed throwing gulaal on his face before rushing into the crowd.
He stared at where she was standing before running after her.
It was unclear as to what had happened and how it happened but when Kunj and Twinkle woke up, one squealed and other laughed.
"KUNJJ!!" The scream was loud enough to penetrate outside the walls of their bedroom. Twinkle woke up to find her face mirroring a smilier pattern of colors that she had made on Kunj's face earlier in morning.
"Tum na!!"
"Kya tum na? Haan! Bol bol!" he pretended to hide behind the couch while drying his hair. "Aik tou mere puri Holi kharab kar di uss Abhi ke saath chipak chiapk ke aur phir itna bhagaya!"
"Abhi se kya problem hai tumhe? Mein ne kabhi kaha ke apne dostoon se na milo?"
He walked up towards her, pulling her up close towards him while brushing off the colors off her face, "Maya ko bhool gaye? Or Vandy. Bechari ki puri dress kharab kar di thee tu ne."
She scrunched her face and struggled to get away from him but his hold on her only tightened.
Usha and Mahi were wrapping up the dinner plates when Kunj and Twinkle stepped down the stairs. The family was gathered around in the living room along with Twinkle's family.
"Kahan gaib ho gaye the tum dono?" Usha questioned as Twinkle stpped forward to help with the plates.
"Chor Usha Rani. Holi ka din hai. Alag se khel rahein hoon ge." Bebe spoke with a mischievous hint in her voice. "Kyun puttar? Sahi hai na?"
"Chal koi gal nahi. Ja apne aur Kunj ke leye khana le le."
Twinkle smiled and walked away obediently towards the kitchen with Kunj closely following behind her. It had been a long day.
