Europe's most popular IGCSE subjects
The ten most popular Cambridge IGCSE subjects taken in Europe are:
* English as a Second Language
* Mathematics
* First Language English
* Literature (English)
* History
* Geography
* Foreign Language French
* Biology
* Physics
* Co-ordinated Sciences (Double Award)
Many schools will find these subjects form the core of their curriculum. What's more, CIE offers more than 60 subjects at IGCSE including over 30 modern languages.
CIE reviews and updates its syllabuses regularly.
A new alternative IGCSE in Mathematics will be available shortly, for first examination in 2009.
Global Perspectives, an interdisciplinary IGCSE, is being trialled by 25 schools and is available for first teaching in 2010.
Other new developments from Cambridge include Heritage Studies, featuring individual IGCSEs in Pakistan Studies and Bangladesh Studies, available for teaching already. India Studies is in development.
