This is an open letter to you from a person who has grown up dreaming, blushing and drooling over your superstars since 90s. I have been a TV and movie buff since childhood, i have grown up watching the movies of these superstars and then as i grew up, i started knowing them beyond the screen. I started knowing them as real people, and trust me i have always been proud, always been smitten by your off screen personas as well, but then i grew up a bit more and realised that there are stuff like PR and publicity stunts, and fake news circulations and image maintenance, well .. that is also fine. You need to learn the tricks to stay in the business, your un loyal marriages, your shameless affairs, your non serious flings, everything has been accepted by everybody in in the world because .. you know everybody does loves you all.
But recently, there is something which started, and that has made the fans repel from you all, okay i guess i shouldn't generalise, made ME as a fan repel from you all, and that is how you treat your children. People, dont you all love your children? Dont you aspire anything else for your children expect for being bollywood stars? You are so obsessed with someone carrying your lineage that you dont even let your children complete thier education?
I was shocked to read that star kids debuting 3 to 4 years ago are just 23 or 24 years of age at this moment. Now can anyone explain what is thier educational qualification? highschool? 12th standard? what? In a world of today, where a fruit seller makes sure his children complete graduation atleast, we have star kids raining with nothing more than 12th standard? Okay i am maybe unaware of some star kids are educated, but as for now i have not heard anything else than film courses in NYU. That is the only education they have,
I maybe old school by stressing so much on basic education, basic graduation, but tag me that, i cannot understand this fact of someone asking his children to work bfr they have a basic 14 years of education, and on top of that, you make your children subject to this complex of nepotism and proving thier worth. Where they are criticised ruthlessly and become nothing more than subjects of mockery. Look at abhishek, that humble sweet person is labelled a failure because he couldn't live up to the name of his father? and as this wasnt enough, now we have frequent pictures of teenage sons of BW superstars doing the rounds of social media.
I am sorry, but sadly i feel Bollywood walking on the pathway of the mughal empire, who only wanted there children to rule and carry their lineage, and there children remained uneducated, and learnt only how to cut the other person's throat so there is no competition. This egotism and obsessiveness of not letting an outsider succeed in Bollywood is similar to what mughals did.
Neptism has brought down centuries old empires, Bollywood is nothing in front of it, people should learn before its too late, and this is a genuine advice from a fan which will not like seeing the world's biggest industry fall down the drain because it was too scared to let new talent succeed.
Please, bring in your children to your profession on the basis of their talent, not their blood type.
Sincerely,
a Bollywood fan.
