AP is a disputed area. China claim the whole state of Arunachal Pradesh to be part of theirs. In 1962, India and China warred over this region.

Insurgency issue was there in 2-3 states but most of them have simmered down with time and now part of mainstream like the MFN in Mizoram was an insurgent group now its part of the electoral process. Ulfa was like the khalistani movement but local people stopped supporting them after a while and once they lost that, peace returned. And these are only few instances. Govt agencies, newspapers or news portals won't give u the real picture. U need to visit those places or talk with the locales to know reality.

Unfortunately it will take a long time for this issues to get totally resolved. Cos the diversity is so huge that its easy to create trouble in these areas. Also most of the leaders of these insurgent groups live outside the country and from to time create trouble to stay relevant. But now people are tired of such incidents and they want peace and prosperity , economic development. The Govt needs to do lot to develop, educate and foster peace in these areas.
