How Crime Patrol select stories?

I would like to know that, how crime patrol select stories. Is it public based or from police files.

My 16 years old only brother-in-law was died on 25th Feb. 2016 by sink in water. His 2 friends said that we were bathing in river, but family is sure that its murder. Can you help by any means regarding this please.
