"Men are no more immune from emotions than women; we think women are more emotional because the culture lets them give free vent to certain feelings..."
- Una Stannard

So, I wasn't going to make a post today because there were so many well-written posts out there and I would be a broken record. But, I cannot get over that hug, To be honest, I watched the hug scene and the recap because I didn't have the heart to watch the rest of the craziness.

The hug scene was heart-wrenchingly beautiful. I cannot get over the amazing extent to which Sidhant performed during that breakdown. Yaar, awards ki line lag jaani chahiye. But, overall, what I loved most was that they showed the breakdown of a male lead to the extent they did. I'm not someone who watches follows Indian TV shows regularly (IPKKND, QH (only the Aahil & Sanam season) and JA were the only ones) as I lose interest very easily. Something I've noticed, though, in many Indian shows is that they shy away from allowing the male leads to express their emotions as such. The only emotions that overpower the male leads and are most expressed are anger. I love TEI for doing differently. First of all, they gave us a fresh, new male lead (not the typical rough, angry young man types) and he admits his sensitivity, he cries and I love that. I think our society in general stifles the emotional development of men. For example, I cannot count the amount of times I've heard young boys to stop crying because they're acting like girls and etc. (Please watch this commercial atleast till 0:57- it's EXCELLENT (does not necessarily apply to Kunj but makes a great point)). This really hinders their emotional growth because they are unable to express themselves and it just gets awful inside them which causes them to lash out.

Anyways, I loved everything about that scene from the dialogues to body placement. It showed a raw, desperate, unadulterated vulnerability that Kunj allowed only Twinkle to see. I think it's beautiful that they are able to draw comfort from one another rather than Kunj always taking care of Twinkle. The only other episode I can think if where Twinkle took care of Kunj (emotionally) was January 8 with Anita talking smack about him attending college. I really look forward to seeing some more. We could see the battle within Kunj of wanting to be strong but breaking down. We could see how he does care for his father deeply albeit the obvious strains.

And with that being said, I return to my Psych homework. Do share your thoughts!

Aw so you didn't watch the whole episode? It's okay, you watched the best part so not missing out on tooo much but it really was a good episode! Now onto your post, as usual simply brilliant! I'm really glad you focused on this because I know everyone pointed it out in their posts but it deserves SO much attention because it's so commendable how the CVs are showing us this fresh perspective on a man's sensitivity. I only watched Qubool Hai season one with Asad and Zoya and we saw Asad crying and be at a vulnerable state MANY times and that is when I realized how rare it is to see this on television, especially in our own culture! Men are always portrayed to be the walls of steel, the protectors, the brave ones who don't cry. The crying is left to the women. For the first time we have such a male lead that openly admits he's sensitive, that is strong for his family but let's his emotions out. Sidhant' performance was brilliant to say in the least and I completely agree, where are his awards?! Kunj is an entirely special character, shown to be different from the beginning and today's episode just emphasized his character's amazing qualities.

Loved the quote and will definitely check out the commercial! Once again, beautiful post (:

No, I read the written update though. I couldn't stand to watch Usha's foolishness and Twinkle being blamed. I think once everything is resolved, I will go back to watch it. Thank you for kind words! I can't even get started with how important I think it for male leads in TV shows to be more human and realistic in terms of their emotions. I am so so so glad TEI is being different. Kunj is truly unique and Sidhant does so well portraying him.
