The show does give that feel, but the CVs and the entire team keep claiming that the show isn't a biopic.

Even I thought I get Lata-Asha vibes from this story. I have no idea what their equation is? Are they also on bad terms with each other? But the story of two Marathi sisters that become hit singers is very similar to Lata and Asha. But other than that, I dont know much about their background or family. So no clue how similar or not they are to Kalyani and Keteki.

BTW, I have just caught up to the show and love it. It's very emotional and a bit painful in some parts but is clearly a very well thought out story with a great cast and authentic production values. I am loving it. It has an old world charm you just dont get to see in shows much. The classical music is superb. I dont know much about Indian classical music, but boy is it beautifully done on this show.

Question: The songs they are singing, especially the one that the Dad and girls sing together...is it composed for the show, or an existing song? Whatever it is, it's gorgeous.

So apparently after reading up on wikipedia 😆 I found some parallels.
1. The sisters used to be part of classical musicals since they were young.

2. Their father was a classical singer and theater actor who died when Lata was in her early teens from a heart disease.

3. Mangeshkars moved to Mumbai after the father's death and a friend of their father's helped them get into films and stuff.

I can see where they took "inspirations" from though I have no clue of how close it is to reality. I do see Asha Bhosle saying things about her sister in a positive light many a times though.

ya it does give a look like lata and asha relationship I read somewhere and many people from industry says that in initial stage of there life they was sharing bitter relationship. which improve when they grew older.
there was even one film made on their life called saaz shabana azmi and aruni irani was there in that film.

Thanks for sharing! Read all of them...
Lets see what the story comes up with

But all I can say is that it's just not a mere coincidence in this matter...
