Jai Gangaajal makes a decent start

Expectations weren't high from Jai Gangaajal despite Priyanka Chopra in the lead. The movie managed a smooth start at the box-office minting 18.50 crores in the weekend garnering a spot in the Top 10 Highest Weekend Grossers of 2016 so far. The film's box-office collections could soar due to an open week with no competition from new releases this week.

Meanwhile Zubaan, which was raved about by industry folks, much like last week's release Aligarh, showed lackluster opening collections. While the film is generating positive reviews, lack of star value isn't helping to pull audiences. The fact that the music of the film, which was touted to be the film's USP, hasn't done well, means that it would be a struggle for the film to show a turnaround.

The two new releases of the week, Jai Gangaajal and Zubaan failed to affect the collections of Sonam Kapoor starrer-Neerja. The film continued its successful run at the box-office and has collected 63.79 crores till now. The Ram Madhvani directorial is made on a moderate budget of 21 crores and has made over 200% profit at the box-office till date.
