Hi sorry for being late in commenting.
I just read the fire part and couldn't agree more.
I guess when you were typing that fire scene I was living that. It just so happened that a huge fire broke out in our apartment building on 27th Jan. The fire had spread through the top 6 floors and we had to evacuate building. We weren't able to be back into our flat for almost 10 days! Thankfully it didn't reach my floor.
The repair work is going on still.
So fire episode reminded of that incident.

So Maan heroically saved Geet and she was overwhelmed with his concern and care.
Maan on the other hand, was scared of losing Geet and so he had become over protective of her.

Geet reminisced all the memories of past couple of months, and she was falling more deeply for Maan.
Maan hasn't yet recognised his feelings to be love but he knew he can't lose Geet.
let's see how and when Maan will recognise his love for Geet.

CHAPTER 19. AE KAASH KE HUM

And since that Geet started observing how Maan never entered her room as long as Viren was around. But why? Geet wondered. Did they hate each other? No! If so, then Viren would have told her. Family feud? No no! Daadima and Viren's Bua are good friends! Then what? Geet could not understand. Geet shrugged. She did not want to worry about that! She would rather worry about something else, like Maan sending her mixed signals. She smiled sadly as she remembered one of those instances...

"Geet! Geet stop running!", Dev scolded as he ran after Geet.

Geet giggled as she ran, "NAHI!", she shouted loudly as she clutched the photo album in her hands tightly.

"Geet! You better give it back to me or I swear...", Dev threatened as he ran after Geet. Geet shook her head as she turned towards the stairs and ran down them. From the first floor, Dev shouted, "Geet! Give me back those photos!"

Seeing that Geet was not stopping Dev started to follow her. Geet stopped in the middle of the main hall and turning around she stuck her tongue out to Dev, "No way! I want to see what is in these photos!"

"Geet! No!", Dev hollered as he stumbled down the stairs and Geet turning around started to run. Annie, who was standing at the corner of the first floor, continued to laugh. She was in store room with Geet. While Geet was talking about her friend Viren, Annie was sorting through the store room wanting to find her favorite knitting needles. She had left it in her room when she last visited and since then the needles had migrated to the store room when the servants had cleaned her room.

As Annie was looking through the things in the store room she found an old photo album. It was Dev's childhood album in which most of the time Dev was naked. When Annie and Geet decided to look at it, they retired to Annie's room. Before they could open it, Dev came around asking what was going on. When Geet giggling told him about his naked pictures, Dev lunged to get it from her. He was too embarrassed to let Geet see it. And that is when Geet ran away from there with the photo album in her hand and Dev followed her.

As Annie watched, Dev followed and Geet ran, she collided into something solid and both she and the solid thing lost their balance and fell down with Geet on top of the solid thing and the album flying right out of her hands. Geet closed her eyes the moment she collided. So she was quite confused as to why the thing that felt so solid when she collided with it, felt so soft and warm right now. She curiously opened her eyes only for it to widen. She had fallen on Maan. Hey Babaji!

Maan looked at Geet unblinkingly and Geet wondered whether there was something on her face. Suddenly Maan raised his hand and she closed her eyes, cringing. But then she felt his finger gently swipe her cheek and go behind her ear. Oh! He was pushing her hair away from her face! She opened her eyes as his finger trailed from her ear to her neck. Geet sucked in a sharp breath when the same finger made its way upwards from her neck to her lips. She bit her lip as she stared at Maan with wide eyes. Maan's fingers traced her lips and Geet felt her heart beat faster.

Just then they heard Dev mumble as he walked away, "Got my album back! Phew! Saved my izzat on right time!"

Maan's eyes widened as the bubble burst and Geet started to get up. Maan pulled his hand away as he sat up too. As both got up, Geet could not look away from Maan. Maan cleared his throat and excusing himself, he walked off. Geet let out a breath. What just happened? Did Maan really trace her lips? She touched her lips where she still could feel Maan's touch.

Geet shook her head as she came out of that memory. I don't understand you Maan! Sometimes you take care of me as if you feel something for me and then you start avoiding me in the evenings as if you are distancing yourself from me and then there are days when you make me feel that my love will be reciprocated by doing things like touching my lips and caressing my cheek. Maan! Stop confusing me!

As Geet sighed, she remembered the moment she realised she was in love with Maan. Before that she knew there was attraction, and there were some feelings that went beyond care but she realised that she was in love only after that moment.

Geet was walking by the study when she noticed something and frowned. It was almost 10 at the night and she would not have been prowling around if she hadn't been searching for Maan to ask him some doubts before hitting the bed. As she looked in, she felt anger bubble inside her. There was Maan still sitting inside working on something. But that was not what irritated and angered Geet. It was the plate of untouched food left nearby and that angered Geet. He always harped to her about eating on time and he is skipping it himself! Geet stormed into the room and glared at the man with hand on her lips, "Yeh kya ho raha hai yahaan?"

"English!", Maan barked without even looking up from his file.

Geet rolled her eyes, "Fine! I will speak in your language! What the hell is happening here?"

Maan raised an eyebrow but still did not look up.

Geet huffed, "Maan! You rant to me about eating on time! But you yourself don't eat on time! Why is that?"

"I am not hungry!", Maan commented absentmindedly.

Geet shook her head.

Just then Maan jumped into action by grabbing a marker pen and marking something. Geet sighed. This crazy man! If it was somebody else, she would have given up and walked away but this was Maan. And she did not know why Maan pulled her heart strings where no one else did. Letting out a breath, Geet picked up the plate in one hand and scooped the food in the spoon with another.

"Maan! Open your mouth!", Geet commented jokingly.

Geet was amused when Maan obediently opened his mouth without even noticing he did it. He was so lost in his files!

Geet clamped her mouth shut not wanting her giggles to come out and put the spoon in Maan's mouth.

Maan's eyes bulged in surprise as his mouth closed and Geet could not control her laughter anymore. She started laughing loudly as Maan took his time to chew and gulp the food.

"Dekho Geet...", Maan opened his mouth in anger only for Geet to feed him again.

Maan looked surprised again and Geet continued to chuckle.

As he chewed and gulped Geet warned him, "I understand! You want to work! But I want you to eat! So stop talking and work on your file! I will feed you!"

Saying this, she fed again when he opened his mouth to say something.

Maan sighed and then he gave up on stopping her and focused on his file while in between opening his mouth for Geet to feed him.

Since that day, Geet always made sure Maan had his dinner too and threatened to spoon feed him when he did not. Dev and Annie were amused by this new threat and always seemed to laugh when Maan sat to eat in front of them. Geet pondered for days why she cared so much for Maan; whether he ate or not, whether he arrived home or not. Geet did not understand her obsession with his every move and her worry about his being. It took Geet few days to work out that she loved Maan. Of course she never told anyone else. But the truth burned inside her and Geet hid it in like some secret refusing to let it out.

As Geet turned around her eyes fell on her books and she sighed. Bas only two months left for my final exam! She perked up. Then I can fulfil my dreams! Then she pouted. But then I will have to leave Khurana Mansion. I will have to leave Dev and Annie. And mainly I will have to leave Maan! Sigh! Waise what was the event that Dev was talking about? The one in which the bet would be hinged on my performance? Hmmm...

"I have got it! I have got it!", Dev entered the training room excitedly.

Maan and Geet, who were working on Geet's manners (you are not supposed to wave your hands so vigorously Geet, be soft!) and Annie who was playing on her mobile looked up at Dev confusedly.

"What did you get?", Maan growled annoyed that Dev interrupted Geet's training.

"The event that will decide who won the bet!", Dev announced and silence set in the room.

Maan blinked in surprise, "Oh really?"

Dev nodded, "Remember Bro? When we decided on the bet, I told you that there is an international event in few months where many big dignitaries would come along with embassy members, industrialists and all. The date of that event is out! Just got the invitation.", he waved the invitation in his hand and continued to speak, "It is in ten weeks! Geet! You have ten weeks to be your best!"

Geet's eyes widened while her face turned pale. Even though the bet was between Maan and Dev, the bet would, at the end of the day, decide her future. Maan nodded at the bet and accepting the invitation he read through it.

Dev continued to speak, "And that's just not it! Even the royalty from Jodhpur Gharana is coming over! Geet! Remember the bet! You have to fool them enough that they believe it when you say you are a Princess from Rajasthan's small gharana!"

Annie and Dev looked excited but Geet was felt with dread. 10 weeks! Princess! Hey Babaji!

Geet shook her head as she came out of the memory. Then it was 10 weeks, now it was 6 weeks! Hey Babaji! She pushed the thought away. She cannot think about that! If she focused on it, she will become nervous! No Geet! Focus on your studies, not the party!

Just then the clock chimed 5 and Geet jumped in excitement. Its time! She clapped excitedly. Now that she was given clean chit for the Doctor, she was excited to get out of the house. And when Viren heard this news he gladly offered to join her in her quest to get out of the house by suggesting that they went to a fair! A mela! Geet giggled excitedly and went to stand in front of the mirror. She had been ready since 3 PM for the trip but yet she went to check herself in front of the mirror. Hey Babaji! I am stepping out of this house after so many days! I am so excited!

Half hour later, Geet sat on a sofa in the living room, her whole body vibrating in excitement. Maan rolled his eyes but remained focus on his newspaper. Neither of them noticed the remaining Khurana siblings standing on the first floor observing the scene.

"Admit it! You are wrong!", Annie smirked.

Dev frowned, "Regarding what?"

"Arre! Weren't you the one who said that Geet and Maan Bhai are falling for each other?", Annie spoke.

Dev chuckled, "Yes?"

"But you are wrong right?", Annie asked excitedly.

"Nope!", Dev shook his head, "I am still right! I still think Maan Bro and Geet are in love with each other!"

"Ha! Then what do you say to Geet's excitement? Look how she is eager to meet Viren! A girl reacts like this only for a guy she loves!", Annie made her first argument.

"Don't get confused sister! Geet is not excited to go out with Viren! She is just excited to get out! That's all!", Dev countered.

"I don't believe it! Look how regularly Viren comes and meet Geet! Its obvious that Viren loves Geet!", Annie commented.

Dev chuckled, "Hey! I never said that Viren might not be in love with Geet! I mean any guy who meets Geet falls for her! Infact, I am surprised that I have yet to fall for her!"

Annie rolled her eyes and Dev continued, "But Geet loves Maan Bro! I mean she spoon fed him dinner, she is restless when he does not come home on time! Its obvious that she loves Bro!"

"Whatever!", Annie shrugged, "But I am rooting for Geet and Viren!"

"Ha! Traitor of your own family!", Dev scoffed, "I guarantee you that Geet will be our Bhabhi!"

"We will see!", Annie huffed.

"We will see!", Dev spat and both parted away, Annie went to her room and Dev got down the stairs.

Meanwhile below, Viren arrived and in her excitement, Geet jumped up and hugged him. Neither noticed Maan's eyes almost bulging out at the action but Dev noticed. Oh Annie! I wish you were here!

Soon Geet said her goodbyes and was off with Viren. Maan could only watch from afar as they walked away. Suddenly, the dream or rather the nightmare as he preferred to call it, came to fore in his mind's eye and now in place of someone else taking his Geet away and he saw Viren walking away with Geet. His hands clenched in anger and jealousy but he refused to give in. He had decided to keep his distance and he will. He was not weak willed person and he will remain strong! He got up and stormed away earning an amused look from Dev. When will you give up and give into the feeling called Love Bro? When?

"Cotton Candy!", Geet squealed in excitement and grabbing Viren's hand she dragged him towards it. Viren could only watch with amusement as Geet ordered the cotton candy for both of them. On the background some Bollywood song played through the speakers. Soon both were eating the candy and Viren spoke up, "Ab bolo! Where to go next?"

"Hmmm...", Geet thought as she looked around. On one side lay merry go round that she was itching to go and then on the other side was the game gun-the-balloons that she wanted to try. Her eyes widened when she saw the game where the player had to throw a ring at the thing they wanted to win. Then her eyes went to the puppet show that looked so cute. Where to go? There are so many options here! Finally she settled on merry go round and dragged Viren there.

Viren could not believe the fun he was having with Geet. They had been on merry go round, roller coasters and cup-a-twirls. And now Geet dragged him to Gun the Balloons game. She tried to hit the target but was unable to and looked so miffed that Viren took the gun from her and tried it. Geet clapped excitedly when he won her a gift and Viren could not look away from her happy face.

She pulled away and walked off but Viren was lost in his dream world.

Geet turned around and called for him. He came out of his thoughts and sheepishly smiled at her.

Geet and Viren walked towards the Puppet stall and watched the puppets dance. As Viren watched, his mind conjured a scene where it was him and Geet dancing like puppet. Dressed in a blue gown Geet danced in a ballroom like scene with Viren in white tux. They spun around and Viren watched with muted eyes at the happiness on their faces. Viren smiled as he watched himself twirl Geet and dip her down. Geet gave him a smile that warmed him upto his toes. An elbow brought him out of his day dream and he turned to see Geet laughing and clapping. Her hair flew around her and onto his face.

His hand pushed away her hair from his face as he watched her laugh.

Geet pulled him out of his daydreaming by dragging him off to the ring game.

In between they saw a balloon stand and Geet could not resist from asking Viren to buy her one. He smiled at her and looked at the balloons. He asked her to choose a color but Geet could not choose. She looked at all the colors and asked him to make a choice. Viren chuckled and bought all of them. Geet watched him with wide eyes and let out a surprised laugh when Viren went on one knee and handed the balloons over to her. Geet laughed loudly at his antics and Viren could not resist from staring at her. She grabbed his hand and he looked down at the hand and then at her as he followed her wherever she took him to.

Viren stared at Geet as Geet ordered the stall fellow to handover the rings.

Geet then shook Viren till he came out of his day dream and then ordered him to throw the last ring for her.

He threw and he missed. Both pouted sadly.

Then both glanced at each other and burst out laughing at how childish they were behaving.

As Geet continued to laugh, Viren stopped laughing and just observed her.

As he observed her, he came to a realization. He was in love! His expression turned into shock as he stared at Geet aghast. He was in love with Geet!
