Is it right for the audience to shame actors on their looks?

Hey!

Just a thought that was running through my mind- actors are on screen to portray real characters and Bollywood places a lot of emphasis on their looks.

Do only good-looking people have the right to be on screen? Since the job of an actor is to essay his/her role to perfection, how important is it for them to look good?

Do you think it's right that people like Arjun Kapoor/Sonakshi Sinha are criticised for their weight/looks?

I don't like Arjun much (before I'm called biased😆), but the character he is playing in Ki&Ka is that of an ordinary guy. Ordinary guys do look like he does- maybe with some love handles and thicker thighs. They don't have model bods. So, is it unfair to expect actors to look like supermodels all the time?

Doesn't it lend authenticity to an ordinary character when an actor actually looks the part? After all, we're not all DP/Hrithik Roshan in real life.

Do you think BW's emphasis on looks for actors, especially female actors is okay?

no one has right to look down or shame anyone due to their physical appearance..
ppl who scream their lungs out Budhdha budhdha i feel sorry for them most as one
day they too will grow old n new generation will repeat the history n series of same
mistakes of believing that they will be ever youthful n no aging ...

having said this..
there are some ppl who might look good..bt their inner character ..mentality is such
that it reflects even on their face as if the inner ugliness of mind evilness of thoughts
glows bright ..example Arjun kapur..😆
i am creeped out by the inner ugliness of ppl whose face cannot help hide their
true leechy being so ya i critisize on that face that scream evil from head to toe 😆

if the rumours abt arjun malaika khan is true..
then am aghast that a boy who probably knew his mothers pain when
Sri devi ji broke his family should nt have all the more gone ahead with
malaika khan..so i find Arjun kapoor an ugly man ..nt because of his physical
appearance bt because of his ugly mind projects his creepy eyes..🤢

Yes...if they are taking my money under the guise of giving me chocolate...but it turns out to be karela...then yes I have full right to beat and bash them...period...don't take my money if you are not what you are promising to be..simple.

Every profession demands certain inherent attributes and for films, it's 'Looks and Charm'. But if an average looking person has talent that makes good looks seem insignificant in his/her case, then I find it very lame to use the beauty card for them. No profession should be unattainable for somebody if they have the passion to pursue it. Hardwork, passion and talent above everything that is there. As simple as that.

For example, since you mentioned Arjun Kapoor, the problem with him is he doesn't look passionate enough to me. It doesnt look like he is bothered enough to improve himself. His attitude puts me off big time. And Hrithik, he is very good looking but what's even more appealing about him is the way he never fails to give his best in the lamest of roles and most casual of films. He constantly tries to bring something new to the table, always tries to evolve. Even DP is gorgeous but the respect she gets today is because of the way she sincerely put her everything in order to become a fabulous actresss.

Yes and No both! If they aren't looking the part they're playing in the movie , audiences have full right to criticise them! As for real idk, to each their own! I for one don't shame anyone for any physical aspects!!
As for the example you gave here of arjun kapoor, I wonder which of the A Lister hero/ actor would have agreed to do a role which he is doing. Answer is none! All of them are busy playing macho men keeping all the ladies (half their age) as sidekicks to them. At least he is doing something different than the others. And he wasn't that bad in the trailer!!
