For some reason, the writers decided to uphold the values of honor and living for others when Twinkle and Knuj were suppose to get married; and instead of seeing hatred or contempt for each other from both sides, we saw a lot of disgust for each other along with sharp attitude.
Its not easy for both of these two to forget what happened that night. Albeit both had broken hearts, they were still not ready to marry and settle down emotionally and mentally. While Twinkle woke up to a bizarre state to see Knuj standing in front of her, Knuj had to witness his father threatening suicide. Both are traumatizing instances and not to be recovered from easily. What keeps both Knuj and Twinkle going on with their lives and not letting one incident define them is their love for their families respectively.
I know the atmosphere in the show looks like that a love confession needs to come but before we get a confession, the honest truth about the night needs to come out in front of the family. Everybody already knows about the affair but in eyes of everyone, including Tanejas; Knuj was the only person present there besides Twinkle. Until the truth is not cleared, Knuj and Twinkle accepting their feelings is futile because our eastern society holds male on a higher pedestal that allows them a certain level of power. Despite Knuj's righteous character, fingers can be raised over him and the foundation of their relationship.
A better developed friendship would be more suitable at this stage of a relationship to build up the trust that was lost.
