Bollywood prepares for Diwali

The festival of lights sure brings in lot of hope and success to our actors.


Govinda, actor and MP:

I won't be in the country this Diwali. I'm shooting for Ganesh Acharya's Money Hai to Honey Hai in Mauritius and will be back in Mumbai only later this month. But my family will come over for the festival. We'll do the Laxmi Puja here but I'm not sure if I'll burst crackers. I don't want to contribute to sound and air pollution this Diwali.

Simone Singh, actor:

It's going to be a very non-traditional Diwali this time. My husband and I are off to our holiday resort in Goa. So there won't be any pujas and certainly no crackers. I'm not a cracker person. I don't play cards either. The only thing I'm going to do is decorate my house in Goa with diyas. But we're certainly going to gorge on Goan food this Diwali.

Nafisa Ali, social activist an actor:

This Diwali is going to be like any other Diwali. My children and the staff of the house will come for the Laxmi Puja. I'm going to decorate my house with candles and diyas that I buy from the Blind Society. In the evenings I always visit Dr Karan Singh's son's house for a small get-together. But I don't bother much with the clothes I wear on Diwali. And since we're out in the evening, we don't cook at home. I do attend a few pre-Diwali card parties, but I don't play cards. I always request the winners in the card parties to donate hundred rupees for charity, but they just shoo me away.
Shaan, singer: I'm not into rituals, so there won't be any pujas at my place. But we burst crackers; in fact, we've already started. For the kids I buy safe crackers like charkis and phuljhari. I'll probably dress the kids up in ethnic clothes and take them to a children's party. We get invited to card parties, but I don't play.

Bobby Darling, actor:

I've bought a house recently and I'm going to decorate it with fancy lights. I'll do the puja in the evening and visit my friends thereafter. I'm going to wear a nice backless choli and a ghagra designed by my brother for the Diwali parties. Koena (Mitra) and Tanushree Dutta have invited me to their homes for Diwali. After that I'll be attending Sanjay Gupta's party before leaving for a party hosted by an industrialist. I hope this Diwali I get to meet the man of my dreams!
