Part 22

Khushi always believed in the phrase, early to bed and early to rise. No matter what the conditions were, Khushi never failed to wake up early in the morning, do some pranayama and take a nature walk.

Though the journey was tiring enough for her, both physically and mentally, her old habits and nature had woken her up. The first sight which greeted her was Arnav's sleeping face which suddenly made a smile appear on her lips.

" Looks not too bad, when sleeping." thought Khushi, while getting up without making any noise as usual and rushing into the washroom to freshen up.

After freshening herself up and getting ready in her usual fashion, Khushi went out to take a tour of the mansion which looked more like a palace for her. After all, you don't get to see such big palatial mansions built in such a palace-like manner in urban areas everyday.

Khushi had no words to appreciate the true beauty of the mansion as a very excited and pleasantly surprised look adorned her face as she walked in the corridors of the palace. It had 4 floors and there were approximately 6-7 rooms per floor. Khushi touched the intricately carved out pillars and the beautifully designed walls as she appreciated every bit of the art which has been put in to make the mansion.

As Khushi was lost in her beauty, suddenly some words from behind brought her back to the reality. She looked around to see if anyone was there and when she didn't find anyone, she decided to follow the voice as curiosity took the better of her so as to who was shouting early in the morning.

" Don't know what charms you have used to trap our son. Maybe you came to know that he was from a rich background and you used this, this innocent looking face of yours to trap Akash Bitua. You must be very happy that your plan finally succeeded right? Both the sisters trapped our innocent sons." Manorama's words to Payal had a revolting effect in Khushi who had reached there to see a crying Payal. Khushi knew that Payal never went against elders so she had to take a stand for her sister.

" Aunty, please think before speaking. Jiji and Jiju got married with their own consent and what they have for each other is pure love, nothing else. And coming to mine and Arnav's case, it was an accidental marriage, which I don't even consider. I don't know what caused you to think this, Aunty but if we wanted was just money then we would not be here, giving explanations and crying at your words." Manorama fumed seeing Khushi's courage to backanswer her as she went and pushed Khushi, as she said,

" Were you not taught manners that you should not raise your voice in front of elders and to not interrupt when elders are speaking to someone? And all this gussa you are showing to Chotte is just an act."

" Manorama Aunty, you are elder to us but that doesn't mean that you will badmouth my sister and I will listen to it quietly." Khushi thundered at Manorama, while she stood aghast in shock.

" Look at this mannerless lady. Standing in my house, you are shouting at me? Or are you forgetting that you are a mere guest here and have absolutely no right to teach me manners?" An angered Khushi who was shuddering with fury was about to burst when Arnav's voice fell on her ears,

" Sorry, Mami. But Khushi and you are related to this house in the same manner. As you are the daughter-in-law of this house, Khushi is also the daughter-in-law of this house and even if she wasn't, she has every right to stand up for her sister. And what are you even accusing Bhabhi of? Trapping Bhaiyya? Haven't you see true love in Bhaiyya's eyes for Bhabhi?"

Khushi had gone numb that Arnav was taking her side and speaking up for her. Every single act of his seemed to prove his love for her as her heart felt warmth seeing his concern and protectiveness for her. Unknown to her, a smile adorned her face as involuntarily she thanked her stars for giving her someone so supportive.

" Chotte, even you are standing against me. Wow, these girls are turning our kids against us."

Manorama walked out fuming while Arnav took a deep breath before going to Payal to console her as he made her take a seat and knelt before her. Khushi was surprised by her own actions that she was thanking her destiny for blessing her with Arnav, whom she was supposed to hate.

" Bhabhi, don't take Mami's words seriously. I know what is the reason behind this. NK Bhai, son of Manorama Mami also wanted a love marriage as he had fallen for a girl named Sheetal. But sadly, the marriage couldn't happen as the whole family was against it and got him married to Shyamli Bhabhi. Now when Nani accepted us, Mami is feeling angry that injustice happened with her and as she cannot vent it out on Nani, she was venting on both of you. I apologize to both of you on Mami's behalf. "

Payal and Khushi exchanged looks before Payal started speaking,

" Don't apologize Devar Ji. I understand her predicament. Akash mentioned about this once and I am glad that you don't think the same as Mami Ji. But how come I didn't meet NK or Shyamli?"

" Mumma said Bhai had to speak to some dealer in Chennai and Bhabhi went along with him. Don't worry, Bhabhi. I am sure NK Bhai and Bhabhi will be very happy to meet you." Khushi had another question in mind and it was against her nature to keep any question to herself,

" If your Nani Ji was so much against love marriage then how come she readily accepted them now?"

" Actually Sheetal was not the right girl, Khushi. She was just behind the money and Nani gave the same reason when she rejected Sheetal so Mami is using it against you both.Nani was never against love marriages but that love should be genuine enough to convince her. And since the marriage already happened and both Bhaiyya and Bhabhi are in so deeply in love, Nani had to accept them. "

Arnav looked back into the past as reminisced how the incident had changed NK and how he never actually accepted Shyamli Bhabhi. He sighed deeply as he felt bad for Shyamli Bhabhi who was extremely nice and caring but destiny chose this for her.

Will this anger of Manorama change the dynamics of the situation?

But yay Khushi to the rescue! :D Loved how Arnav defended her. Oh I really hope everything will be fine between Khushi and Arnav and hopefully Mami won't bother Payal anymore although your last line is scaring the sh*t out of me :|
