Tamil actor Abhinay passes away at 44 after prolonged battle with liver disease in Chennai

On Monday, November 10, Tamil actor Abhinay, celebrated for his role in the 2002 film 'Thulluvadho Ilamai,' passed away at the age of 44. Over the past several years, he had been dealing with a liver-related illness. In recent times, Abhinay's struggle with liver disease became public knowledge, as he reached out for financial support to cover the costs of his ongoing medical care. Currently, his remains are at his home in Chennai.

Abhinay’s health concerns

The Nadigar Sangam representatives are set to evaluate the situation and manage the funeral arrangements, as the actor has no family to oversee the final rites.

Previously, the actor had shared the severity of his health, with doctors delivering a concerning prognosis. In a widely shared video, he expressed uncertainty about his future, mentioning a medical estimate of only a year and a half left to live.

Abhinay’s professional front

Abhinay's career took off with a prominent role in 'Thulluvadho Ilamai,' where he starred alongside Dhanush, a film that served as a debut for both. Throughout his career, Abhinay was involved in over 15 projects in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada cinema, encompassing films, commercials, and voice-over work.

A significant part of his work included providing the voice for Vidyut Jammwal's character in the 2012 Tamil film 'Thuppakki,' directed by AR Murugadoss and featuring Thalapathy Vijay. His contributions went beyond acting, showcasing his dedication to the industry until his health began to fail.

Facing escalating medical costs, Abhinay turned to the film community and the public for financial assistance. Comedian KPY Bala was among the first to respond, offering monetary support. The widely shared video appeal also encouraged several other industry members to provide aid.

Dhanush, Abhinay's co-star from his debut film, was a notable contributor, reportedly donating Rs 5 lakh. KPY Bala also provided an additional Rs 1 lakh to support his treatment. His final public appearance was at a film press conference in Chennai just weeks before his passing.

The actor's death is a significant loss, especially for those who appreciated his work and contributions to regional cinema. His performances, particularly in 'Thulluvadho Ilamai,' continue to be remembered by audiences and colleagues, marking a poignant end to a career that began with such promise.
