Comedy Nights Live which has replaced Comedy Nights With Kapil hasn't opened to an encouraging response. Disheartened?
Twitter reactions apart, the response has been moderate. I'm not disheartened easily. When we kicked off Comedy Nights Bachao, we were told it wouldn't work, but we've had Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on the show. When Comedy Nights with Kapil started, the TRPs weren't encouraging either, they picked up. Kapil has been doing a fab job, give the audience time to accept the change.

You got a lot of flak for taking digs at Kapil in the first episode?
He too took digs at us in the last episode, we even took digs at ourselves. The format of the show won't change.

Wouldn't it have been better to come up with a new show or make Bachao bi-weekly rather than replace a cult show?
The channel has confidence in our team, we're working hard to make it successful. Kapil is one of the finest stand-up comedians in the country, I'm a fan too. But I have my own brand of slapstick comedy. He can't dance and perform like me nor does he have a family legacy.
They are big shoes to fill par ab joota pehen liya hai toh fit bhi aa jayega. We have a Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir Khan who respect each other. Why can't we?

He will be out with his own show soon, worried?
Kapil is a fine actor and a great businessman. We may not be the best of friends, but I wish him the best and expect the same. I was hurt when his creative head Preeti Simoes said his show was Bajirao Mastani, mine Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3. We've had Madhuri Dixit and Katrina Kaif with Salman bhai coming to wish us luck.
