Sanjay Dutt to spend Diwali in jail

Popular Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt,it seems, will spend this Diwali in prison.

According to television channels, Friday was the last working day of the Supreme Court before Diwali and the process for acquiring bail for Dutt from the SC has so far not been completed.

The next hearing of the Dutt case will be on November 20.

Dutt has been lodged in the Yerawada jail in Pune following his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

This is Dutt's second stint at Yerawada. He had surrendered before the TADA Court in Mumbai after receiving a copy of the judgement.

The actor, who was found guilty of possessing an AK-56 rifle ahead of the serial blasts that killed 257 people, was first taken to the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai, from where he was sent to the Yerawada jail.

Dutt's lawyers had been hopeful of getting bail for him before Diwali, which falls on Nov 9.
