Why Kahaani 2? It is a bad idea. They will end up ruining the first as well by introducing a twist or something. Why not something new, even a thriller?

There is nowhere to go with that story. It had its closure.

That's your opinion. Ash has given lots of great performances and box office success as well. Let's not forget that her Jazbaa, despite being a bad film opened much higher than most female oriented films.

I think the charm of Kahaani was that even though you knew it was a mystery, you didn't really know it was a thriller if that makes any sense. At least I didn't before I went to watch it and that's what made the twist so effective. That was the success of the movie, IMO, that even the entire movie preceding the twist (thanks to the very mild treatment) doesn't let you develop an idea of what eventually ends up being revealed.

But now since the audience knows that Kahaani (I) was a thriller...it's sort understood what to expect with a Kahaani 2...thriller, twists...especially something that has a previous standard to better. Don't think that precedent and pressure is a great place to be working out of. Not to mention that story was neatly tied up...why revisit it.

Perhaps it would be much better if they removed it from the Kahaani world. If it's an original story, I don't see why it needs to be a sequel and cannot be moulded into another great movie. There's the benefit of riding on a past success but also the chance of ruining its legacy. And Kahaani is definitely a movie with legacy in terms of ushering commercial viability for small-budget, female-centric cinema.

I think they would come up with a new story with different characters!
Anyway I am up for anything as good as Kaahani with Vidya on board. It is arguably the best thrillers made in a long time!
