Zallak Thakkar is still in the midst of completing her graduation, no wonder she's got no big plans for her future yet. Television star Zallak Thakkar is bubbly, energetic and soft spoken. This Ahmedabad girl who shifted base to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting also loves to dance. "Dancing is the best form of relaxation for me," says Zallak. Zallak began her innings by acting in a Gujarati serial Paraniya etle patigaya. After that, she did a whole lot of regional movies before she was chosen to replace Neha Devi Singh, who played the lead Bhumika in Saarthi. "I have been playing Bhumika since January and this role has been a sort of lucky break for me. Bhumika is a complete woman and I love portraying her," says Zallak. "Initially, it was difficult to step into Neha's shoes. She had played Bhumika for two years and played it well. When I entered mid way, I had to try my best to live up to the audience expectations," she explains. And she credits her co-stars for helping her with the transition. "We are like a family on the sets. The entire team, starting from a spot boy to my director, have helped me immensely. They stood by me like a rock, I will always be thankful to them," says Zallak. So what's next in her kitty? Pat comes the reply, "I believe in living for the day. I don't plan for the future. There are a couple of offers, but currently I am concentrating on my serial." Does Zallak dream of Bollywood? "Yes, if given a chance, why not? But I don't intend to make a beeline for it. Maybe, if I am offered a good script..." she says. Like many of her contemporaries, this 19 year-old is still pursuing her studies. "I am currently in my second year of graduation. Since I am working 28 days a month, it becomes quite difficult to study. But I manage to find time for it," says Zallak. She also dreams of "working in all kinds of regional movies and serials. Every language has its own charm and it teaches you so much about the industry." |
