Chapter 4

Days passed. Riya has become an integral part of Arjun's life. He did his level best to find about her background and make her normal, but no use. Riya was now for him, his baby, his love and his everything. She was the missing puzzle in his life. His days started with her and ended with her, she always accompanied him to the office whenever he was busy nor he had field work, she used to sit in his cabin and draw. He was never tired of listening to her talks. She would speak incoherent things about her Ghost Arjun'. Even though it hurt Arjun to her about another person from her, nevertheless he would listen to her patiently. Even Riya became favorite of the entire ETF with her innocence.

It was a Wednesday, a new case came into ETF. A man was murdered in an Ashram' in Dehradun.

"Yoga Peedham', an Ashram set up for people seeking peace. The head of that institute is a 90 year old Guruji'. Two days back as a part of some ritual they had to open a cave in the institution premises and found a dead body there.

As ETF gone through the case details, Sameer decided that they should go to Dehradun immediately. Arjun looked at him hearing this. He was worried about Riya. Sameer assured him that Riya can go with them.

They reached the institution by night fall. They were offered rooms.

"Sam, when can we start the investigation?" enquired Arjun.

"I think we should wait till morning to investigate the crime spot. However I have requested a meeting with the head. In another 10 minutes he will be in the garden."

Suddenly Arjun got a phone call. He instructed Sameer to carry on and walked away speaking on the phone. Same time an attendant cane and informed them that Guruji' is waiting for them. Making sure that Riya is sleeping peacefully, they walked out of the building.

Guruji was waiting for them. He was looking like an old saint. The powerful positive aura coming from him was really strong. Unknowingly all ETF members bowed in front of him.

He smiled at them and motioned them to sit on the st9ne benches and he himself seated in one.

One by one he answered their queries. Suddenly a crying sound broke their session. Sameer realized that it was Riya. He sprang up to go to her when he saw her coming towards them crying. Seeing him, she ran and hugged him.

"Bhaiyya, I was scared. Riyu saw a bad dream"

Sameer heaved a sigh of relief knowing the reason. He patted her back and tried to calm her down.

"Is that... Is that Riya?"

A shaky voice caught everyone's attention. They looked at Guruji with doubtful eyes. He had tears in his eyes. Riya too looked at him.

"My girl! It's really you!!!"

His lips curved into a dazzling smile.

"Do you know her?" asked Sameer.

"Are you kidding me? I have known her since she was a baby", replied Guruji.

That news was indeed a happy one for ETF. Sameer tried to call Arjun, but the number was busy. So Sameer took the initiative.

"Can you please tell us more about her?"

"I will, but first tell me how is she with you? And why is she not recognizing me?"

Sameer told him everything about Riya. Guruji remained silent for some minute trying to digest the information. Then he started telling her story, correction, her and her Arjun's story.

Flashback Starts

It all started 28 years ago. Riya was born for a couple in love. They loved her so much. But fate had other plans. An accident took Riya's family away. She became an orphan at the age of three. She was admitted to the orphanage ran as a part of the Yogi Peedham. Riya was a kind hearted girl and the same time she has a penchant for danger. Wherever she go, she invites trouble. So hardly she stepped out of the Yogi Peedham.

One day, when she turned 18, she went to the outskirts of the Dehradun to collect wild flowers with the other kids. She was really happy that time as she was going out after a long time. But that happiness was short-lived. She lost her way. She screamed everyone's name but no one replied in that dense jungle. It was close to night. She saw a cottage nearby and a lady working outside. With relief she went there. That lady welcomed her like her own daughter. Riya told her plight to that lady.

That lady named Madhu' provided her with a room. Riya slept unaware of the danger lurking there. Close to midnight she woke up hearing some sound. She went to the next room and was shocked seeing the scene.

A girl of Riya's age was tied to the bed. And that girl was behaving as if she was possessed by a ghost. Madhu was soothing her while tears ran from her eyes. All of a sudden the girl looked directly at Riya. Riya jumped in her place. Madhu looked forth and between Riya and that girl. Her eyes widened in horror and she saw the roped were being loosened.

"Run Riya run..."

Madhu yelled. Riya started running aware that she was being chased. How long she rean, she had no idea. When she felt she can no longer run, she fell into her knees and started panting.

"Are you okay miss?"

She was startled by the sudden manly voice. Frightened, she looked up slowly. There was a man standing in front of her with concern written all over her face.

"Who... who are you?"

As if sensing fear in her voice he crouched down next to her.

"Hey relax. I won't harm you. I am Arjun, a naturist. I came to explore this forest and lost my way. I have lightened fire nearby and I heard your footsteps and I came here"

Riya was in two minds as to believe him or not. She looked at the direction he pointed and was relieved seeing the flaming fire.

Arjun forwarded his hands and Riya took it reluctantly. As they got up, they started walking towards the fire. Then all of a sudden that girl possessed with spirit appeared in front of them. Riya screamed in horror and stood in front of Arjun to protect him. Even in that state she knew that it was because of her Arjun also in danger.

She could feel Arjun trying to move forward to shield her. But she used all her strength and locked him behind. That girl came so close to Riya and looked directly in her eyes. Riya was shivering yet stood firm.

All of a sudden the girl started screaming in high pitched voice. Arjun broke

Riya's grip, turned her to him and closed both of her ears with his hand. Their eyes

locked. Riya felt a sensation she had never felt before
