"Hey, 30 year old virgin, do you want to have sex with me?", asked a 62 year old Abhi as his wife Pragya helped him get into the bed.

"Oh my hot and happening rockstar, you are a little too drunk for it tonight", said Pragya as she helped intoxicated Abhi to settle on the bed.

"Just too drunk in your love, birthday girl", Abhi pulled Pragya into his arms, kissing her forehead.

Pragya placed her head on his chest. Abhi kept on mumbling drunken sweet nothings until he started to snore lightly.

Pragya got up and removed Abhi's shoes, tried to take off his jacket but she found it hard to move his sleeping form. She then switched the lights off, pulled the blanket on him and joined him in the bed.

She could not help thinking about the same day 30 years ago.

"Hey, 30 year old virgin, do you want to have sex with me?", asked a 32 year old Abhi as his wife Pragya got out of the closet, dressing up for her birthday party.

Pragya was taken aback not only at the question but by the way Abhi asked it too. He was lazily leaning to the wall by the closet door, with a raised eyebrow as he waited for an answer. It was as if he was asking her about some random thing.

"Whhha what kind of question is thaa that?", Pragya asked with her voice shuddering.

"Do you want me to ask you again? It meant exactly what you heard. I didn't mean right now. We have a cake waiting for you to cut. I meant whenever you decide, let me know, alright?", Abhi walked away while Pragya pinched herself to make sure she was in reality.

Abhi was Pragya's husband of 10 months. Their marriage was arranged but it was a special arrangement indeed. Abhi was the most famous celebrity of the country, a rockstar who had seen success beyond measure. Pragya was an assistant professor of psychology at Mumbai University.

Abhi only had his grandmother for an elder who had raised him and his sister since his parents died when he was a 3 year old. The old woman had done everything in her capacity to feed the two kids and give them education. Abhi had grown up witnessing his grandmother's sincere love and dedication to him and his sister and nothing mattered to him more than the old lady's happiness.

The old lady never demanded anything from her grandson who grew up to become a celebrity of his own league except requesting him to marry a girl of her choice.

Abhi was left in a dilemma because he never believed marriage was his cup of tea, for he had his little on and off relationship with women from the glamour world. And he was 100% dedicated to his music and showbiz life that he didn't see the necessity to get tied down in family responsibilities at all. Yet, he decided to meet up with the girl his grandmother had chosen for him saying the girl matched him the most in a birth chart analysis algorithm. She was the daughter of a family friend whose ancestors were from the same village as his in Punjab. It was a quarter hearted chance he was giving, but he did want to give a chance to honor his grandmother.

So the girl was Pragya Arora, a Ph.D. in psychology who taught in Mumbai University. The girl didn't look an ounce like his choice for a girl but he was in for a shock and relief at the same time. The girl had very similar issues like him where she was averse to the idea of marriage but was in a fix due to her mother with a literally weak heart. She was also focused in her research career that she didn't want to be distracted with marriage at all. After going over the problem again and again they decided on an agreement that they would marry but live their lives independent. It was something like they will get married and stay in one house but they will not have any claims and rights over each other. And the future plan was that if it got to their neck to maintain this marriage, they will divorce. If they can do well and manage, they will adopt a baby or two to please their elders, which was going to be their next demand. For Abhi adopting children was a cool celeb thing to do, for Pragya it was helping an orphan.

So they married in a small ceremony since Abhi didn't want to make a big deal out of his marriage in the media. Pragya came to Abhi's house and started living with him. Elders on both parties had gained happiness and health seeing their children married.

Abhi and Pragya started their individual lives in the new setting where they had to share a room and do certain things for the family together as husband and wife. They managed quite efficiently as they worked as a team in everything they did. The best part was they had found a bantering chemistry that kept them both entertained and engaged. Abhi's world had gained order due to Pragya while Pragya's world relaxed into randomness around Abhi.

They talked a lot with each other and shared and cared. When Abhi shared his struggle to rockstar title and his life as a celeb, Pragya had heard it all without blinking her eyes. When Pragya shared about her one and only unrequited, failed before it begun love story with her friend Suresh, which made her shun all the doors to love with menkind, Abhi was amused.

So in a couple of months they knew more or less everything about each other and found their marriage convenient and successful as per their plans. Elders were happy, they were happy, their lives were as they wanted until Abhi found a problem.

He had met his friend with benefit, super model Tannu, after a long while only to realize he didn't have an iota of attraction left for her which he had in plenty before.

He even tried a random hook up to meet the need of his body but his mind did not cooperate.

Pragya had recognized a problem too where she found herself attracted to her husband. She often brushed it off thinking Abhi had made it to the "sexiest men alive" list this year too and hence any woman would find herself a bit attracted to him.

While Abhi had stopped looking out for women in his world, his eyes started to look at Pragya. But then he found it very intriguing that she literally hid everything on her with long sleeved outfits that were made of meters and meters of clothing that didn't show any skin beyond her face. But then gradually she became a Pandora's box for him, that he wanted to unleash but then it didn't seem like just about her clothes anymore.

And that day, which was her 30th birthday, when Abhi saw her coming out of the closet, dressed in another of her Pandora's box sarees, he could not stop himself.

And Abhi did not find any fun in asking the question round about. He straight went for the kill and asked her the question without hesitating a bit.

Sitting on the sofa, Pragya was sweating. OH MY GOD, what kind of question he had actually asked. It didn't seem like a joke at all to her given he had asked it with such a straight face. And she felt undeniable pride and joy that he wanted her.

Realizing it was time for cutting her cake, she did go down the stairs to join the family from her side and Abhi's side that waited for her arrival. She could not even dare to look at Abhi at all through out her birthday celebration and preferred spending time with her sister and mother to avoid Abhi. Abhi wasn't talking to her in particular either and she was quite happy about it.

After the party she had settled to Abhi's music room somehow rather than going to his room. She thought and thought about Abhi's proposal.

She had completely shunned the idea of having sex a long time ago when she realized men, even similar minded men like Suresh were not interested in her. Her idea of sex was an end point of eternal love but love seemed delusional now.

But then sex with husband was not really a bad idea, perhaps all married women did that with their husbands, Pragya thought. Sex with Abhi was the catching point for her for she knew she might have wished for it at some corner of herself that she never wanted to acknowledge.

And Abhi was right. She was a 30 year old virgin. While she knew of her 18 to 23 year old students in her class losing virginity, she sort of found it ridiculous that she was holding on to it.

After thinking over and over for 2 hours, she decided. It was her body, it was her life and she was going to let her body have that experience it had craved for. And sex with her husband Abhi sounded like the perfect idea all the more now.

She finally dared to go to Abhi's room, the door of which was left slightly open. She worried if Abhi had already slept for a moment but was relieved to find him listening to his headphones. But the same moment the ground under her seemed to sink with the nervousness of the situation.

But Abhi always made it easy for her and so did he this time too. "So, is your answer, yes?", he asked and without waiting for her answer he pulled her into a hug, kicking the door shut. He was so sure of her answer.

She thought she had something to say but then his mouth shut hers right then and the next moment she fully realized was when both of them were naked on the bed with tangled limbs, in a puddle of sweat and ecstatic breaths that started to calm down.

He had then smiled and kissed her, slowly for the longest time.

And then they didn't ever feel the need for divorce although 30 years passed.

They didn't need to go with their baby adoption plans either for Aarav happened in a bathroom escapade and Aditi in a floor adventure.

So, now a 60 year old Pragya smiled to herself. The past 30 years had been way better than the first 30 years of her life. Her husband was the best thing to happen to her. And she had so much to cherish now with her two kids settled, and even married. Her daughter in law was expecting a baby and so did her daughter. She was all the more happy that even Abhi's Daadi was going to soon see her great great grand children!
